Quinta Don Jose Boutique Hotel - Relaxing by the pool

Recently, I stayed three nights and found my Quinta Don Jose stay a wonderful place to be. My room was quiet, comfortable and nicely appointed with everything I needed. The refrigerator and water machine were especially nice. Of note, my room was across the street from the main building (I had to "buzz" in/out of the property which was fine.) Each morning, I enjoyed a delicious breakfast and maybe a drink or two at the bar (Charlie was so welcoming and friendly!) One night, I ate at the restaurant and had an excellent meal served by my new friend Carlos (he was so nice and attentive!) While the pool water was a bit chilly, I used it 2/3 days and enjoyed the beautiful courtyard - it was a great way to relax from the hustle and bustle beyond the hotel property. Love Quinta Don Jose, would definitely return! 5 stars

Quinta Don Jose Boutique Hotel has definitely become one of our favorites, and it's one we've chosen to stay at more than once. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and the staff truly go out of their way to make every guest feel at home. It's that "home away from home" vibe that keeps bringing us back. The rooms are cozy, clean, and decorated in a charming, authentic style that reflects the culture and history of the region. While it's not a 5-star luxury resort, it offers comfort, character, and everything you need for a pleasant stay. The hotel itself is a beautifully converted old house, complete with an on-site restaurant and bar that serves delicious food and drinks. The complimentary continental breakfast is a highlight--fresh coffee, tea, and a traditional Mexican breakfast that hits the spot every time. One of the best parts is the location--just a short walk from Tlaquepaque Boulevard, making it easy to enjoy a relaxed afternoon or a lively evening in town. Quinta Don Jose will definitely remain on our go-to list. Since we travel back home often, we usually plan to stop in Guadalajara for a night of rest, and this boutique gem is the perfect place to do it.

This charming former hacienda is stunning. We stayed in room 1 on the ground floor and the artisanal look and charm was evident everywhere. We were greeted promptly after figuring out where to park the car. Tip 1: If you're driving, drive up to the hotel, check in and then park across the street in the gated garage. There is no valet service at La Villa de Ensuenos, so you'll need to get your luggage and walk back across the street to the hotel. The rooms are very nice. They are beautifully decorated and have everything you would need. Tip 2: There are no mini fridges in the rooms. We were given a drink coupon for our first night and a breakfast coupon for the following morning. The courtyard, pool area, La Collection, and the eatery area are exquisite. You don't feel like you're in Tlaquepaque or even in a city. It's so quiet and refreshing. My wife was thoroughly impressed which doesn't happen very often. In Room 1, the AC unit did make a lot of noise and our bed as with most beds in Mexico was extremely firm. The hot and cold water in the bathroom worked and had excellent water pressure. We also like the little card from Mari who was are assigned housekeeper. Breakfast was delicious. Our waiter spoke both Spanish and English. They made accommodations for me as a vegan which was very nice. My coffee was hot and not weak. My wife ordered a child plate of pancakes and a side of fruit. Tip 3: Like everywhere in Mexico, the beans are fried with Manteca or pork lard. We will stay at La Villa del Ensueno again and look forward to enjoying more of the amenities.

The housekeeper Elizabeth was very sweet, and got us a refrigerator delivered to our room, when we didn't have one. Located one block away from the downtown San Pedro area of Tlaquepaque its the perfect place for travelers looking for a great place to stay. The hotel itself is small with only 9 rooms available for guests. Several of the larger rooms (king size beds) are on the first level, with the rooms with queen sized beds are on the second floor. There is no elevator for the second floor and one must take a winding staircase to access the rooms and breakfast area. The room itself was very charming, well maintained, and very clean. Ceramic tile floors and solid cement brick walls keep it cool and sound proof. Because of the gorgeous Guadalajara weather, air conditioning is not required in the room, but there is a fan if you'd like some air circulation. All the doors and windows do open to allow maximum airflow. It was so nice to open them in the evening and allow the cool breeze in. One issue that should be addressed is some of the noise from the street below. While this could be an issue for those individuals who are hypersensitive to noise, it really isn't an issue. It actually was a nice little reminder that you're in a beautiful, modern city with traffic, people and full of life. Your room will include free breakfast every morning. At 8am, the staff sets up a wonderful juice and coffee bar on the second floor dining area. Its an open air dining area...the perfect place to enjoy your meal. The staff who prepares and serves breakfast can make you a custom made "American style" breakfast with eggs (your choice) bacon, sausage, cereal...anything else you can think of. Be sure to show the staff your appreciation and leave them an appropriate gratuity. The staff is wonderful, always ensuring the property is clean, well maintained and providing guests with whatever services, recommendations or assistance they need. Overall, this is a wonderful place for travelers of all levels. I would strongly recommend this location if you're looking for a romantic experience for couples, or looking for a peaceful stay in a beautiful city. Enjoy!

Too many overall issues.

They didn't charge me for my plate and service was really bad. Room is great and breakfast are amazing but dinner here I have to say not good at all.

We went down stairs and the front desk switched us to a new room, no fuss. We went up to the rooftop bar, great views and great drinks. The food however was a different story. Everyone in my group had issues with the food we sent back some of the food, but it wasn't any better when it returned to the table. Needless to say we did not eat here again. If you stay here visit the bar for the views but avoid the food. Overpriced and very low quality. Lastly, the hotel lobby has no restroom!!! Almost everyday while waiting for our friends in the lobby we had to make the trip up to our room in the 5th floor to use the bathroom. The was such an inconvenience. The hotel is centrally located and there are many restaurants and places to see within walking distance. I personally will not stay here again.
