I ordered one item from lunch menu and one from the regular menu. Bread - so fluffy, warm and soft 10/10 Fettuccine Venzeziana (lunch menu) - it was super tasty and flavorful. the chicken was a bit rubbery, but the sauce and pasta were cooked to perfection 10/10 Panzerotti Camarata (cheese ravioli/regular menu) - soo delicious. the sauce had great flavor and the pasta was super soft and the cheese filling was really good. Shrimp was cooked well and tasted great too. Tiramisu - it was okay! I liked how soft it was, but it lacked a bit of flavor for me. Service was attentive! My waitress checked on me often and was super helpful on what to order. Both dishes I got were actually suggested by her and I loved them! The plating has a lot of thought and detail in every dish, which adds a really nice touch. The inside is beautiful and has plenty of seating. Very welcoming, has a homey feel, and the music was on point. I could see this being a good spot for lunch or birthday dinner.

They have one of the better lasagnas I've had & the spaghetti is the best I've had. Chicken Parm is a winner with me too as is the Margarita Pizza. For an appetizer I get the Mushroom Ravioli, very flavorful & the bread you get with the Olive Oil to start with is pretty good. Desserts are hit or miss, wasn't really a fan of them, salads are good tho. Customer service is cool, polite but they can be a bit friendlier & check on you a bit more for drinks. It can get busy at times so just have a little patience (in my Guns & Roses Axel Rose voice) it's worth it as their food is good & they are polite & go as fast as they can. And don't sleep on their Calamari it's real good. Definitely our go to place in the South Bay for good legit Italian food.

I'm obsessed with their STRAWBERRY SPINACI salad and the classic CAPRICCIOSA pizza loaded with prosciutto cotto, mushrooms, artichokes, and black olives. If you love seafood, the LINGUINE A MARE is a whole ocean of flavor--Spanish shrimp, calamari, clams, mussels, white wine, garlic, lemon, and chili flakes. And don't even get me started on the soul-warming RISOTTO E OSSOBUCO... absolute perfection. I decided to take my parents out for their 38-year anniversary, and they chose to try the place I've been telling them about Garbatella. My birthday is also the day before their anniversary, so this dinner was meant to be special. We walked in at 5:15 PM after seeing on the website that Happy Hour was from 3:00-5:30 PM. Our reservation was at 5:45 PM, so we wanted to catch the end of HH. We stood there for almost five minutes without being greeted, which in any restaurant for a guest is a long time. When we were finally acknowledged, the server already seemed irritated by our existence. We told her we had a 5:45 PM reservation but wanted to enjoy Happy Hour and asked if we should order at the bar or if we could do it at the table. She completely ignored the question, sat us, and handed us regular menus. When I asked again, she said HH was already over. I mentioned the website says 5:30 PM--and at that point it was only 5:22 PM. She responded that it actually ends at 5:00 PM and that the website is outdated. She then seated us directly between the only two other tables in an otherwise empty restaurant, so there was no sense of space or privacy. Again, if it was a full house totally understand but it was practically vacant. Trying to laugh past it, we ordered drinks and bread. The bread came out before the drinks--which is a restaurant SIN. When I tried to order the Pappardelle Rione (a dish I've ordered here many times and is still listed online), she told me they no longer have it and again said the website is old. I asked if there was anything similar or if the kitchen could make something close, and she pointed me to roast beef with mashed potatoes... after I had clearly said I wanted pasta. She rushed through taking the rest of our order, and I already felt like an inconvenience. Mind you, there were only three tables in the entire restaurant. She could have tried to meet me in the middle on an item but acted as if she had no time to deal with my order or make any suggestions per my requests. Two minutes after ordering, I decided to switch to the bolognese with burrata--just to stick with pasta like I originally wanted. She told me they had already started my dish and that changing it would be an additional charge. At that point, with the inconsistencies in HH timing, outdated website menu, seating, and overall attitude, I just said to add it to the bill. Since we all know she wanted to rack it up at that point or to shut me up basically. I've worked in the industry for some time now and not ignorant to servers antics. Both of my entrees came out. The meatballs were likely microwaved, the burrata was missing, and the roast beef with mashed potatoes was nothing special. Couldn't be that fresh if it came out that quickly is all I'm saying. My Coke was empty by the time the food arrived, and she never once offered a refill. Eventually, my mom had to flag down another younger server to get drinks. When our original server finally came back, we ordered tiramisu. My refill came barely before dessert was dropped. She then completely disappeared to chat with another table. No acknowledgment of our celebration, no dessert gesture for my parents' anniversary -- NOTHING. I actually had to get up from the table to find her so I could pay. She seemed uncomfortable when she realized I was the one paying--and tipping. I typically tip 20-30%, but this was the first time I've ever left 10%. She didn't even provide me with a copy of the receipt after saying she would. I have never felt more brushed off by a server in my life. Didn't get her name. She was older, dark hair, heavy eyeliner, and cold unwelcoming demeanor. What happened to good customer service? Don't know if it was our race, my age (much younger), or if we just caught her on a bad day. Either way would not recommend due to the inconsistencies of the times, menus, and service. Based off of the other reviews it looks like they pick and choose who to give it to. Especially the demographics... VERY interesting and disheartening.

While the Colonia Cacho is very trendy, with a happy mix of retail, restaurants, apartments and single family residences, the Hipodromo neighborhood is Tijuana's "Upper East Side", with roads lined with flamboyant mansions, many of which are gated and sequestered on private roads with lyrical names like "Tula", "Techuacan", "Mina", "Tepic" and "La Paz". Although open for only about six weeks, Caccio Hipodromo is already Ground Zero for Tijuana's gentry. You will note much table-hopping and air-kissing among the guests, since everyone seems to know everybody, like one big house party on steroids. The blue-jacketed valet posted out front under the scalloped umbrella will take your car. Walk up a couple of steps [the restaurant is located on a hill] to the large glass entrance doors. There is a definite Mid-Century vibe to the décor that is clean-lined and pleasing. Vast windows look out upon Tapachula Street as it inclines up the hill to the houses of many of those happy people in the dining room. The lighting at Caccio Hipodromo is dramatic, with multiple pendant lights dropping over large round tables, and elsewhere recessed lights in the ceiling creating a magical starlight effect. A long row of "Mother-in-Law Tongue" plants backs up a banquette like a sturdy line of toy soldiers. The menu is identical to that at the original Cacho, consisting mostly of salads, pizzas and rotisserie chickens. In addition, some new dishes have been added to both restaurants. Yesterday, I enjoyed a half dozen Kumiai Oysters with served with a Sauce Mignonette and lemon before the famous Rotisserie Chicken with roasted potatoes and asparagus. The complimentary grilled bread with butter is addictive, and the crusty and thin pizzas are prepared in the same Neapolitan ovens as in the best pizzerias in San Diego. As is expected in Mexico, the service at Caccio Hipodromo is kind, efficient and ever-present. Special mention should be given to my server, Jose-Maria, who decanted the Santos Brujas wine with expertise before serving the wine in the special large wine glasses that the restaurant stores behind the bar.

I've been here plenty of times and service has always seemed to be an issue. Not ever with me personally, but with the parties I've come with. We've experienced servers forgetting plates or bringing food out when everyone else is already done eating. I could see this place being better suited for smaller parties or couples, or maybe they just need more servers. Either way, when it gets busy it seems like this is where the issues start. This time I came on my lunch and the food came out fairly quick, no issues. Portions are on the smaller end. I do like that the pasta is made in house and the chef makes it all fresh. Lasagna was a good size and tasty, I just personally didn't care for the sauce too much. Still worth trying though! The pasta was fresh and soft. The mushroom ravioli - 1000/10 !! Loved every bite! The pasta tasted sooo fresh and the sauce was chefs kiss ! Boy oh boy do I love flan and let me telll you.. this one knocked it out the park! Never have I ever had an orange flan before and it was soooo AMAZING. Texture was perfect and exactly the way I like it! Also loved that it wasn't super sweet. Creme brulee - 1000/10 ! I would come back on less busy days and avoid weekends, but definitely try it for yourself! Street parking is available, but fills up fast on busy days. I'm pretty sure you can reserve the back patio too for bigger groups or celebrations which is cool. Just keep the food wait and service in mind.
