Visited 06/30/2017 for lunch. We stopped our meandering for lunch along the beautiful Zugersee. No reservations but they made room for us. Shared a couple of mixed green salad and a pizza (bacon, onions and peppers) between the 4 of us along with beers and a wine for the Mrs. Everything was quite good and along with the great service and scenery, made for a great lunch stop. read more

San Marco inspires great disappointment in the service industry of Zug. Located in the heart of the altstadt, on the edge of the lake, there is a lot that needs to go wrong before one swears never to set foot in this sorry establishment again. Somehow, this restaurant ticks all those boxes with ease. The restaurant manager prides himself on being ready to serve not a soul. Tables are left unattended and patrons ignored and scoffed at when they finally get up in desperation to ask for menus, drinks, food and bills. Food takes forever to come out, and once it does, is mediocre if not simply nasty. Considering how few options Zug has, this restaurant needs to be replaced swiftly by entrepreneurs who have a vision, passion for food, people and creating a good atmosphere. Decent food at what seems like reasonable prices in a very expensive country! On a great summer's day, you can sit outside and enjoy the sun next to the lake. Pasta is nicely al dente, but could have richer flavour and more generous meat ingredients (only 3 shrimps). Prices quite reasonable by Zug standards. read more

I only tried the pizzas but they were fantastic. Really thin crust and great sauce and cheese. The Gorgonzola was the surprising favorite. The restaurant has great views of the lake from the patio and it's reasonably priced. The waiter is a bit grumpy though read more

I accompanied my husband on business and had Zug, and Old Zug all to myself while he worked. I was wandering through the completely empty beautiful streets of Old Zug by myself and came upon this quaint place right on the waterfront. It was full of couples but no matter, it was cozy and I was hungry! The waiter spoke english and was the first person I came across where I didn't have to try to communicate in my butchered German Swiss or Italian - quite confusing for everyone involved! Anyway, he made me feel right at home, recommended a great bottle of chianti (Toscana Santa Cristina Chianti Superiore DOCG 2011/12 Antinori 75 cl or 41.00 CHF Traubensorten: Sangiovese, Merlot) and I settled in to take in the views of Zugersee which are simply majestic! DON'T GO HERE.....Forget this place. All they are doing is milking the fact that they sit on the edge of a lake. Go there for a coffee if you wish, but i would never recommend eating there. A friend and I went there on a Tuesday evening. Restaurant was fairly busy and tgey had one grumpy waiter. Sat for ages waiting for an acknowledgment and to be asked if we wanted a drink, or were ready to order. Same with three other tables of diners next to us. Food was mediocre, they got my order wrong - but i did not feel like waiting again for an age so just ate it. Surly, inattentive staff, ridiculously bad service, average food.
