I can say without hesitation that Nora, Harmony Grove Recovery, and the entire team there saved my life. When I first arrived, I was barely hanging on. My family brought me to Harmony Grove Recovery, but I continued to resist the process. Eventually, I was asked to leave because my behavior was disrupting the peace and progress of others. That was my lowest point--and the turning point. I called Nora for help, and without hesitation, everyone at Harmony Grove welcomed me back with compassion and understanding. I feared judgment, but I never experienced anything except genuine support. The team was truly excited to see that I was finally ready to recover, and they guided me every step of the way. Even after completing Inpatient and Outpatient treatment over a year ago, Nora has continued to be there for me. She has supported me through countless challenges, including a difficult family court situation. After seven months of not being able to see my daughter, Nora played a pivotal role in helping me reconnect with her. Yesterday, I saw my daughter again, and I wish everyone at Harmony Grove Recovery could have witnessed that moment. It was a direct result of the work they helped me do to rebuild my life. Today, I am a present and loving father, son, and friend again. For that, I owe Nora and everyone at Harmony Grove Recovery my deepest gratitude. Thank you for giving me my life back.

When someone makes the decision to seek help, that moment is critical and she understood that. There was no runaround, no delay. Within less than 24 hours, my loved one was admitted and safely beginning medical detox. What truly stands out about Coastal Detox is the combination of professionalism, evidence-based treatment, and genuine heart. This is not a one-size-fits-all program. The care is individualized and holistic, with a strong clinical foundation. Services included medical detox, addiction therapy, trauma-informed therapy, clinical support, DBT, CBT, individual therapy, music therapy, and more all thoughtfully integrated into a personalized treatment plan. Nina is incredibly present and involved. She doesn't just oversee the program she cares deeply and stays engaged. Her clinical staff reflects that same energy: professional, knowledgeable, warm, and truly invested in each client's recovery. The intake process was smooth and efficient, which matters more than people realize. When someone is ready for help, the process needs to meet them with open arms and immediate action and Coastal Detox absolutely did. This place has been a true blessing for our family. We are beyond grateful for the care, integrity, and compassion shown every step of the way. If you're looking for a program that combines evidence-based excellence with heartfelt, hands-on leadership, this is it.

It is truly an honor to be associated with a program with such integrity. Who knew that incredible programs that go above and beyond even existed? I think back to the stale, dreadful shaming program(s) that I went through, and there is no comparison. I have to say that it was the development of the tools and all the classes and group settings. But after realizing over a period of time that they are nowhere near what I thought, I'm updating the experience. (Although I still don't believe the previous review about sage and still think he was covering his actions) They allow people to drink and when asked say "we know who's doing what" nonchalantly. That's pretty wild. They allow people to stay in the program even when they are found with drugs AND high. They will only allow someone to stay if they can sweep it under the rug. If it's a big show and cops or any other public incident they will make you leave and discharge you and threaten to get you in trouble. I genuinely had SUCH high hopes. But they don't treat patients/clients equally. They allow counselors to break HIPAA, twist peoples words, and talk about personal things that shouldn't be discussed in a work or professional environment. Adult topics specifically to clients families. Inappropriate! They don't even give warnings or tell you that you might be kicked out for something that is beyond your control. They expect you to just know. They allow families to come by and drop off clothes, supplies, etc but then they'll suddenly switch up and say you could be bringing drugs and use that as a final reason to discharge you. They allow weapons on the property (or just don't pay attention when someone brings a weapon, either way NEGLIGENCE) to the extent that people get injured. When told about a relapse, they literally can and do just sweep it right under the rug. And then since they don't document things like that if they choose not to, the director basically calls you a liar. Fortunately I documented every single incident and issue. Crazy. 3 of the counselors are great. But higher ups and the other half of the staff need to figure out what consistency, fairness, and professionalism in a healthcare setting means. If you come here, you could probably get away with just about anything as long as they can pretend it didn't happen I am not only filing a grievance, but reporting them to CDPH, DMHC, DOI, DHCS. Especially the last one (department of healthcare services).

Was placed as a missing person. After two days she did contact me. Explained she became very frightened. To be alone in an Uber and thinking she was going to another mental hospital. I explained this Akua. They claimed they gave her bed to someone else. I asked cant you find another Akua residential place for her. You have quite a few in California. She had to wait in a hotel for 8days. Meanwhile the meds that have been given from the hospital were leaving her body. I expressed that to them. Then they found a place in SanDiego. My daughter was excited. The same day a Jacqueline Hernandez called and said they cannot take her They just happen to have a training group coming there and they wont be able to" handle my daughter". Its a house with 6 people. They really don't treat people with by polar schizoaffective disorder. A police officer came to visit my daughter to make sure she was ok. He spoke to Jacqueline and to me and had a good conversation with my daughter. I spoke to Jacqueline. I found her to be insincere . She could care less. And she is the director of Akua. So now my daughter returned home with no medication in her. Back to square one. Jackqueline undid everything that the hospital accomplished with my daughter. I feel that Akua might be more for Drug Addiction. Compassion is not there for someone that is struggling with mental illness. It was a horrible experience. Akua may do much better then to have Jacqueline Hernandez as a director.

He wanted sobriety, but he never truly felt supported, equipped, or empowered to make the choice let alone have it stick. We stumbled across Jackson House actually researching how we could support him through detoxing at home. As we called and inquired, they were honest and real and caring and supportive. Wanted to help give him the best chance of making it through successfully to the other side. The short interaction helped my man feel comfortable to make the choice for himself and chose to ask for help. From the very beginning, the care was different. Detox was handled with compassion and professionalism. The staff didn't just help his body safely heal but also made sure he felt safe, seen, and supported through the process. Once he moved into residential, he found structure, community, and growth. I am beyond grateful for his discharge planner Brady, his therapist Cade, and the entire team. They treated me with such kindness and care. Even as just his partner on the outside, I was included, informed, and supported as well. They made sure not only that he was prepared to come home, but that we were set up for success together. The aftercare planning gave us direction and confidence instead of fear! The biggest shift happened when he stopped feeling ashamed and started feeling empowered. They helped him see that sobriety was possible for him. He didn't just leave sober -- he left excited about sobriety. Energized. Proud. Hopeful. That mindset change has been everything. As of today, he is 37 days sober -- and I can honestly say this experience has changed our lives for the better. The program is not magic, you will truly get out of it what you put into it! In a safe, structured, and caring environment like Jackson House, you're finally given the tools, the battle armor, and the support to choose life and sobriety for yourself, your family, and your future.

Dr. John Harper is the worst , not only doctor but human being!!…read more I fell while in the middle of going through Chemotherapy. He went out of his way to make it impossible for me to get help. He even went as far as to write letters to the physicians in my medical file that I went to for help. He told them that he had seen me the day after I fell and that there was nothing wrong with me and I was just "drug seeking." After 4 months of going from dr to dr looking for help because I could not lift my left leg and the pain was horrific! FINALLY, Dr. Brad Cohen, an orthopedist, actually looked at my X-rays and was baffled that I could even be walking around. I had 8 broken pelvic bones, which included both pubic rings broken straight through both bones of the structure, a broken tail bone and several of my lower vertebrae were broken. I had been in to see Dr. James Bried, who had been my Dr for over 30 years, after 7 weeks and he never even looked at my X-rays, just told me that they must be healed at this point. So there I was, a walker, no hair because I had lost it all doing chemotherapy, in tears because I couldn't lift my left leg and the pain was overwhelming. I told him that I just needed to know how badly I had been hurt from the fall and wanted to know how to fix it as soon as possible. I was not there for pain medication that was the furthest from my mind. I just wanted the damage repaired so I could walk and end being in pain. He looked at me and gestured up and down my body and said, " It's been over 6 weeks at this point and is healed. So I don't understand this behavior." At 4 months, when I was finally talked into seeing Dr. Brad Cohen and my bones were still broken. Apparently Dr Harper's letter had arrived before me because he made it very clear that he would not give me any pain medication. He did end up giving me 5 days worth of pain medication and said he WOULD NOT ever refill it and worned me not to even try. At this point I was still in the dark about the letters. Anyway, long story short, I ended up getting surgery to place the left pubic ring back in place because it came together as at an angle that's why I couldn't lift my leg. She put a broad through the top bone of the pelvic ring and did a lot of bone grafting. She said that it never would've healed because the connective tissue trying to heal. It was a gummy sticky substance and that's why it kept breaking apart. After that surgery, I could walk and lift my leg, but I still can't work exercise swim or have sex. Dr. Harper crippled me for life by preventing me from getting the help I needed right from the beginning all that needed to be done, was to set the left pubic ring Back so it is properly together and would heal and to stay off my pelvis for 6 to 8 weeks it would've healed and I would not be crippled right now. He had over 40 years worth of records that he could've gone through to find out if I was a drug seeker I have been Dr. Arsham's patient since 1981 when he retired, Dr. Harper took over for him and totally Ruined my life by crippling me he had no right. He's a horrible man who had no right to do that to me. Also, when he took over for Dr. Arsham, he decided I didn't need the medication I had been on for 35 years and just stopped filling them. It's the pharmacist to put me back on them. Some of them were prescriptions that you can't just cold turkey quit and pharmacist told me that I was not the only patient of Dr. Arsham's that he was doing that too . What a horrible man, definitely on a Power trip. I was gonna sue him, but I had been so ill and in so much pain that I missed statute of limitations by 10 days. 10 days! I wanted to sue the pants off of him.
