Needless to say they can be a pretty bad experience that's why En Route is an awesome alternative. It's a really inexpensive town car service. They have spacious Lincoln Towncars with really nice professionally dressed drivers. It's a couple dollars more, but for a spacious comfortable ride it's worth the extra loot. From OB to Hillcrest it was 25 bucks which is roughly what a cab would be minus the BO smell. They are not the newest vehicles, but for the price its a great way to add a bit more luxury to an evening out on the town.

She was very sweet and eager to help, I just wasn't sure if we were planning to use a travel agent at that time. Well, after a couple weeks and my (at the time) fiance still hadn't booked our honeymoon (for June...) and my #1 choice of room at a Sandals resort was booked for that time, I decided we needed help. I reached out to Michelle and she immediately began searching options for us, based on what was important to us and what we truly wanted! She emailed me and my fiance consistently with updates of what she was finding and if anything seemed perfect for us. She spoke with my fiance many times to make everything just right. We decided to go with an incredible, all-inclusive (a must for us!), adults only resort in Cancun! Michelle was able to get us our dream room with our own plunge pool and upgrade us to club level for extra perks during our stay! She met with my fiance the week before we left to go over all information we needed, our travel itinerary, resort information, etc etc. She called the resort to make sure our room would be ready (we were crossing our fingers we would get an early check in) and informed us our room wasn't ready, which wasn't her fault at all and on the contrary, I was so grateful to know so we weren't expecting it. Our trip was INCREDIBLE! Completely relaxing - our #1 request! Neither my fiance nor I had ever truly vacationed so we were slightly in the dark with what to do and where to look. The stress from arranging the trip was immediately relieved once Michelle became involved. She is very knowledgable, goes above and beyond for her clients, and is very pleasant to work with! She checked in while we were traveling there and made sure we made it ok and everything was perfect for us, then reached out once we arrived home to hear about our take-aways! When you rent through Sun Diego you are supporting a family-run business. It may not be quite run…read morelike a professional chain of car rentals, but you will receive personalized care and a much more reasonable price. We rented two 15-passenger vans for Mexico (flew into San Diego airport) for a week and all went well! At first, I was hesitant because the price was almost half of what was quoted by EZ rent-a-van and it was hard to believe. I phoned Ryan and Carlos several times to get confirmation and ask questions. Though they are closed on weekends (family time), they get the vans ready ahead of time for rental and are available by phone. The drive was 10 minutes and the vans were ready to go on a Sunday. I paid Friday by phone/credit card on Friday, signed electronically and received the rental agreement. Ryan made sure that everything was good for us. Even, when last minute someone returned one of the vans we were going to use, damaged -- he got a replacement ready quickly. The vans themselves were fine - actually a relief that they weren't new - so we felt comfortable travelling in them. One did have a light come on that lasted, but it wasn't serious. We fit 15 persons and put luggage in a truck. Otherwise, it's ideal to have 11 passengers and then room for luggage in the last bench. We drove 3 hours from the border into the hills past Ensenada and that was fine with the Company. After our trip, we dropped the vans off on a Sunday and put the keys in the box. That was it! We will definitely be using Sun Diego Car Rental again and are grateful that the two vans fit right into our non-profit budget!

I called Sun Diego about five minutes after they had closed, but the amazing team there (HUGE shoutout to Carlos) went WAY out of their way to figure out a way to get me set with a rental for the weekend. They totally saved us and were fantastic about every step of the way. They've made a forever customer out of me.
