Hot choc

I've tried their hot chocolate and churros so many times and they never fail to impress me Yummy and so perfect for Melbourne Cold. The winter days call for warm choccy from san churros! And their options are so vast it's perfect for cheat days!

Visiting Melbourne during winter season need to some hot drink and I saw the big orange sign says "chocolateria".. Gotta have good hot chocolate. Very slow on Monday around 1:30pm I ordered and took the number to the table . I ordered Spanish hot chocolate(milk)-was very delicious! Very rich creamy but at the same time wasn't too greasy. Not too sweet was perfect!! Yum! Churros single order (with milk chocolate deep and cinnamon )- crispy enough and good things about this churros not so much sugar on it . Especially deep with milk chocolate deeping sauce was good! Definitely returning to this place when I see on the street!

Churros fiesta - 2 of these with 6 dips

Pros: White chocolate dip and caramel dip were the best ones! Cons:HORRIBLE SERVICE. When we went on a Friday night they were training new employees and they as well as the experienced employees were very rude. First sign was when I asked to try the ice creams they ignored me for 5 minutes then looked me right in the eye and shook their heads no when I asked. Then we ordered the churros fiesta. The churros came out about 10 minutes before the dips and by the time the dips arrived the churros were all cold and honestly not even worth eating. A waste of calories for me. After that we complained and they talked to the manager and only reluctantly did they offer to remake them. But by that time the dips would be cold and not worth eating. Wish they would have just given us a refund but they said they would at first and then changed their minds and said that they wouldn't.

Loved my hot chocolate tonight. That marshmallow!! To die for. The service is quite prompt and on the ball. The churros were perfectly prepared. The fruits and ice cream look fabulous. This place is always a very nice treat at the end of a very busy Friday and working week. Kudos to the owners and staff.

Now let's be honest, who isn't a fan of chocolate? (Well there was that one girl in high school who was allergic, I didn't believe her but apparently it was true). Chocolateria San Churro offers you the finest spanish chocolate in town and i have to admit, there's nothing like it! Located on the intersection of Swanston and Little Lonsdale, CSC is a busy little hub pleasuring the city-goers with amazing chocolate infused beverages and desserts. The beverages are delightful, my favourite the spanish hot chocolate. You can get the hot chocolate in a variety of different flavours, with a hint of mint, coconut, hazelnut and you can even get it hot or cold. The venue offers inside and outside seating, I prefer the inside as you can bask in the wooden interior and stare at the bookshelves with mounds of different variety chocolates (I can never say no to getting something off that damn bookshelf!). With that in mind the venue can be a tad crowded but how could you resist the call of a fine spanish flavour-infused Chocolateria. P.S Oh and do yourself a favour and dont think about how many km's on the treadmill you will have to do to burn the delicious chocolate off and get the most appetising thing you can find!

Basically, as you can probably tell by the name, this place is Spanish (or supposed to be Spanish, I'm not sure if it actually exists in Spain or whether it is just an Australian chain pretending to be Spanish) and is predominantly a chocolate shop. The problem is that I'm not a huge chocolate fan so even though I turn up here every so often for a coffee, it really is only for a coffee and as a place that sells coffee it isn't actually all that good - the coffee that is, I can't comment on the chocolate because I haven't had any. They also have a small selection of cakes, but small is the operative word because the focus does, as I have mentioned a couple of times already, happen to be on chocolate. If you like chocolate and pretty average coffee then maybe it is a place to check out, but I wouldn't come rushing in here to expect anything all that fantastic.

Chocolate Lava Cake
Acoupleoffoodlovers ..

After dinner one evening, we decided to head over to San Churro at QV in the CBD for some dessert. We both ordered the 'Chocolate Lava Cake', as we are both huge fans. We also got cookies and cream milkshakes. It was very busy as it was a Friday night, but overall it had a pleasant atmosphere and enough room to accommodate for a large number of people. We took a seat just outside and waited for our dessert. The shakes came out first. They were pretty mediocre. They had a nice taste with a hint of cookies, but both were warm. We have had a lot of different shakes from a variety of locations and assumed that this shake would stack up pretty highly against others, but it fell a bit short. The lava cakes were brought out soon after. The presentation was lovely - the lava cake on one side, a bit of whipped cream in the middle, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the other side. They were slightly smaller than others we had tried before, but tasted really delicious. The cake was soft, warm and decadent, and the chocolate was really runny - as it should be. The ice cream and whipped cream complimented it well as it broke up the intense sweetness of the chocolate.

Trying to raise our spirit in the cold, wet weather C and I stopped at San Churro in the QV Centre. C has been there before with her friends. The place is busy but it is still a very pleasant place to sit and get out of the rain. The freshly cooked churros come with the option of dark or milk chocolate - C told me that she always has the dark chocolate and I didn't disagree with her choice. The churros don't taste that fatty. These are sweet but you don't feel sick after eating them. The churros for two are just the right size, as C doesn't have a large appetite. I had the Aztec hot chocolate with chili a take on the original way that chocolate was drunk before Europeans discovered it. It is good to have the hot zing of chili with your smooth chocolate. I can easily resist all the menu items, the chocolate tapas, the chocolate fondue, and the tasting plates because I'm not such a big chocolate fan that I have to overdoes on chocolate, a little quality chocolate goes a long way.

Hot chocolate was rich and tasty. It had a bit of an after taste that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Staff was friendly and efficient. I would recommend..

Kept it simple - churro and dark chocolate. Perfect and awesome on a cold rainy day.
