Also, the cap diameter didn't mate up with the barrel diameter. Which doesn't look natural. I could get the same look with one of the many thread protectors I already have. This additional, uncalled for work cost me extra. Also, during this same time I asked for a common Weaver scope base to cut in half and have it mounted to a slide that required drilling and tapping two holes in the slide. Tom did this to my satisfaction but he also said it required the bottom of the base to be "machined". It did not require this nor did I ask for it. This also added quite a bit of expense. To do what I only asked for i was expecting a bill of around $175 instead it cost me $210. If you are fairly local to him and don't want to send your firearm off, I would recommend Bent Horn Gun Works. I suggest writing down exactly what you want done and no more and have a copy for Bent Horn. Also get a price before hand. I did, that's where the $175 was expected but it didn't turn out that way. In the end, I paid, took my items and left.
