I had an in depth meeting with Sam Rad yesterday and I feel compelled to write a review to reflect my experience. With regards to seeking advice from a financial advisor, the most important aspect to me is trust. I have found that Sam is someone that has a very high level of trust and truly cares about helping other people. I had been scheduling meetings and doing research; Sam was the first to respond and he always held himself to a very high level of professionalism. I, myself, am a CPA, and I found that Sam was very knowledgeable. I look forward to working with Sam because I truly believe that Sam puts his clients' needs first, giving honest, insightful, advice in a manner that is easy understood by someone that does not have a degree in finance. Not sure if Sam is still practicing- he seemed to know his business, but after losing a significant sum of money for us on a bad investment (ended up being a real estate ponzi scheme) he left the country and went to Mexico- Not making any part of this up- and we could not get ahold of him. Sam is young, smart, and an amazing resource. Just finished a retirement planning and information session with him. He was able to provide a broad overview of retirement planning (401k, 403b, IRA, etc.) and provide retirement advice that was easy to understand and easier to implement. The session began with him asking very specific questions about my finances including yearly income, existing savings amounts, short and long terms savings goals. The purpose of these questions was so that he could tailer his advice around my individual needs. He even put his example on his window glass. Although it may be difficult to undetstand, Sam was able to make learning about retirement savings easy. I will begin implementing his advice tonight. There is no doubt in my mind that Samuel knows what he's talking about as far as money. And I really appreciated his offering a deal of $49 for two whole appointments (his regular rate is $300/hr), and his offering an intro lecture and dinner at Ruth's Chris. I was really looking forward to the appointments...which sadly, never took place. We never even made it to Appointment #1, which was supposed to take place with one of his junior associates, not Sam himself. No problem; my financial picture is not super complicated right now so I was cool with that. The appointment rescheduled FOUR times, until finally cancelled altogether and they refunded the $49. I know the world is being overrun by Covid-19 but c'mon, we do Zoom meetings at least twice weekly at my particular workplace and the appointments were originally scheduled on Zoom (or one of those other virtual conference platforms). Very surprised that Samuel and his team couldn't even do that much. I guess they weren't up to the task. Oh well. I guess maybe if they come back sometime, I wouldn't be opposed to meeting with them if they can give me the same deal as a second opinion is always good. There is no doubt the guy has a great pitch. He does a very good general summary of financial products and folksy anecdotes that subtly includes pitches for complex insurance-related financial products. That's why he's got so many great reviews. The bottom line is, we came in with very specific goals and tasks and instead of working on that, pitches us insurance-related products and sub-prime lending pools. He's very amiable, very likeable guy with his photos taken with celebrities in the digital photo frame on his desk. Maybe he helps others and doesn't pitch insurance products to them, but, definitely did not help us. Super sketchy. read more

After reading Sam's excellent reviews on Yelp, I decided to make an appointment with him. I had been wanting to accomplish this list of things for a while, but had no idea where to begin: *Rollover to Traditional IRA *Set up Roth IRA *Explanation of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, CD's *Savings plan for purchasing a home Sam got straight to work with me and explained all of these things in a manner in which I could understand. He broke down my financial situation and helped me find a smart way to allocate into each of these categories. At no point did he ever try to sell me on a specific service or product. I left my consultation with Sam with a well defined list of objectives to complete in order to reach my goals. I soon realized that this list was not accurate and that I would not be able to contribute $5,500 in both Roth and Traditional IRA each year. I can legally contribute this amount between the two but not into both. My savings would accrue in exactly half the time, which simply would not work. Sam became much less available and less helpful when he had less to gain by assisting me. I'm not upset, as this is the world we live in. I am scheduled to consult with a Gerber financial planner, which also had great Yelp reviews. I will review them after my consult. read more
