I called and spoke to Lee, the assistant manager and he indicated that I could come at anytime before 6 and if not, park her in the lot and drop keys in the door. Groovy. I arrived right around 6 and Lee was actually leaving. But guess what? He helped me out. Explained a diagnosis would be 100$ or applied to the repair of the car. Fair enough. They would check her out on Monday. Cool. What I didn't tell Lee was that I have one of those engine light scanner deals. Let's see if they're straight with me. Promptly on Monday morning at about 9am, I received a call. Lee basically repeated everything I had already scanned and gave a detailed breakdown and cost per line item. Wow. He even explained what each thing was when I inquired. Double wow! 1600$ hmmm okay let me think on it. And then I call him back because brother in law said it was leaking oil too and what about hoses? I hang my head in sadness, Lee reluctantly tells me that a seal is worn and the hoses are indeed spongy. Dang I knew the part about the hoses too. 2700$ The Pirate and I round tabled all options. From the outside she looked great! Some just age well with care. I knew the truth, time to call Bridge House. Since they couldn't get her until Friday, the Pirate called and asked if it would be okay to leave her there until they could pick her up. I went by the day before and paid Lee the 100$ (plus tax)and thanked him for their services. On Friday I met the man from Bridge House in their side lot so I could donate her. She hauled many an oyster from da bayou to businesses in New Orleans, multiple trips over her favorite bridge (the Luling bridge), a zillion trips to the airport, road trips with my dear Mother and even saved a man's life from a refinery explosion. She was tired. When we left, the Pirate said "damn! If we ever need anything on our cars, we're coming here" I agree, Honesty is the best policy and it's their policy!

I want to be clear that I am leaving this review based on an interaction my wife and I had simply…read morewhile walking past this business -- not as a customer. On the morning of April 19th we were visiting town and walking by MidCity New And Used Tires on our way to a nearby coffee shop. I'm a tall, brown-skinned man with locs, and my wife is mixed with curly hair. As we approached the shop, we noticed three men sitting outside. One of them, who I later had an issue with, was about 5'9", had a short haircut with a low fade, and noticeable neck tattoos. The others were a heavier-set man with curly hair and a thinner man with longer curly hair. As we walked past, the man with the low fade noticed us and began speaking in Spanish. At first, he was sitting on top of a truck, but as he started talking, he stood up. He spoke quickly -- too fast for me to catch what he said initially -- but it seemed like he was testing whether we understood Spanish. When we looked at him without responding, he seemed to think it was safe to continue. Speaking louder now and in a sing-song tone, he said something along the lines of "Señora...something something...culo" -- although he pronounced it more like "cuelo." Whether it was slang or a mispronunciation, the meaning was clear: he was making an inappropriate comment about my wife's body, directly in front of me. The reason I'm describing all three men is because, as prior military, my wife and I were trained to observe and assess our surroundings carefully. In situations like this, one individual's disrespect endangers everyone present if no one steps in to correct it. While my main issue is with the individual who spoke, I hold the other two accountable for staying silent. And while part of me was ready to confront them -- all of them -- I chose not to. That's not who I want to be. My wife is pregnant, and protecting her and our family was my priority, not reacting to ignorance. I'm posting this review to inform the owner of what happened, and to warn others who might consider doing business here. If an employee feels bold enough to disrespect a woman and her husband to their faces -- simply because he assumed we wouldn't understand -- it raises serious concerns about their integrity and what other predatory behavior he might be capable of, especially toward women seeking service here alone.

I said today and i would wait for alignment and tire rotation. Was quoted 1 2/2 hrs-2 hrs. No problem. Sit down in the lobby to wait. An hour into the wait, the guy that was waiting in the lobby is told they will no longer work on his car because they couldn't turn off his car when thet pulled the car into the bay. They said when thet tried to shut it off, something blew and now the car wont start. He is onviously really upset since he went in for a replacement battery. So I am nervous since I heard how he was treated (store refused to take any responsibility and made him sign a waiver to release the vehicle.) Phone calls were not answered and anyone coming in was given curt responses after 15 mins of no greeting or acknowledgement. But I sat there for another 90 mins until I was passed my quote time with no feedback. So when i finally asked them about the eta on my car, I guess I shouldnt have been too surprised that the worker looked confused then screamed into the back to see if the mechanics knew the ststus of my car. At this point, I am pacing around the place. I glance outside and noticed that my car is parked in the exact spot i had parked it. Not moved, not touched during the entire time I was there. That was the moment they said thwy would pull it to the back. I said that won't be necessary, got my keys back and left. What a waste of time, energy and effort! Never again Firestone in Gretna! May that customer get recourse to what y'all did to his vehicle.
