Trust that she wants you to look and feel incredible. Bring in a swatch of the color you'll be wearing and let her do her thing. I was in and out less than 60 minutes. In D.C. I would have paid double. My eyes water ANY time I do lashes. So she had to redo that part. She was so patient. When I walked out one of the customers said "are those your eyelashes?" I was looking for a place near me for a haircut and came across here on Yelp. I called and phone was answered promptly. I was able to schedule an appointment for the next day at the time I requested. Signage for the business is slightly small. It is next to the nail salon if it helps you locate. Upon arrival there was one person getting her hair blow dried. As I arrived slightly early I was able to sit and browse the stack of magazines available. I was taken to the wash bowl right at my scheduled appointment time. I was asked how I wanted my hair cut and felt that I was listened to. When blow drying he did not put any products in my hair. Cost for the hair cut and blow dry was $35 which is very reasonable. However, the reason for the loss of a star is due to not accepting credit cards. There was no sign on the outside or inside indicating this. Good thing for once I actually had cash on me. read more

He got me in the next day and I was in and out with a three color treatment, cut, and style in two hours. I told Sam to do whatever he thought would be best and he did a fantastic job. I went to Sam in a pinch because he had glowing reviews. I only got all over color. I didn't have a great experience but the worst part was that he rubbed so hard at my hair line to get the dye off my scalp that he RIPPED all of the hair around my face. I now have baby hairs around the whole top of my head. I would have rather gone home with the dye on my scalp than have to wait years for these tiny hairs, he ripped out, to grow back. He also rubbed the dye into my scalp as if he was shampooing the hair which is the opposite of what they teach you in beauty school. The 2 stars are for the price and ease of getting an appointment. But now I know why it was so easy to get an appointment. read more

Sam is a perfectionist and very meticulous. He is great. Sam is also very flexible and can usually squeeze me in with short notice.

Overall the service was solid, only thing was I might have caught Sam at a bad time and he wasn't the most friendly / helpful given it was my first time coloring my hair. I also felt he rushed a bit and the whole service was ~30 minutes. read more

I wanted to find a new hair cut place near me. I read the good reviews so I gave it a try. I am very simple and easy going with my hair I just get layers with a trim off the dead ends. I asked for 2 inches off but he definitely cut a lot more off. The whole time he seemed to be in a big rush and constantly tugged at my hair. I will say though I was surprised at the end when I saw that the outcome was still good. My hair was a lot shorter than I wanted but it looked good. The hair cut was not bad, I've had better but I'm mostly giving 3 stars for the overall experience. The worst part is that he charged me $60 at the end. It was definitely way overpriced, I do not think it was worth $60. I think it was worth $40 at most. All I wanted was a simple trim and blow dried afterwards. read more

Sam fit me into his schedule when I called for a first time haircut and did an excellent job. I desperately needed a change and told him my lifestyle (parent to small children, don't have time to style my hair every day). Im very picky about who cuts my hair, but a month ago I needed to get a quick haircut unplanned and boy was I surprised to this day how I love my cut. Very friendly and accommodating. I'm new to the area so this was my first try to find a new salon and this seems to be a lucky break! Not only do I love my haircut (I had over 3 inches cut off so it wasn't "just a trim") but it was quick too which I appreciate. Couple notes: Sunday's are by appointment only and they don't accept credit cards so be prepared. I'll definitely come back. I recently discovered Sam's Royal Salon and couldn't be happier. I was able to get a Sunday appointment which is very convenient for me schedule-wise. Sam colored, highlighted, cut and styled my hair perfectly. I then brought in my 16 year old son who is very particular about his very thick, straight hair (he has hair like the Beatles in their early years - LOL). My son has routinely been disappointed with almost every haircut that he's gotten in the past but Sam gave him a great haircut that was perfect. We are now both loyal clients! read more
