Amazing food. Home cooking to a whole new level. The lasagna soup was one of the best soups I have ever had.

This was excellent BBQ. Everywhere we go we look for BBQ.. we don't always try it. But the pics…read morewere too good to pass up trying, plus we love beef ribs. And the meals came looking just like the pics. The owner and grill master prepared our meals and his wife was our waitress. The bbq sauce is made in house, We tried both the pork and beef rib. Portions were huge. Two hungry people could have shared one of the dinners. We saw the sandwiches. They were also full of meat and according to a fellow customer nearby, delicious, the meat is always tender, never dry.. we started with the nachos. Normally I don't like non traditional bar type nachos, but I ate at least half the order: it had pulled pork, cheese, bbq sauce, and yes, baked beans. . Never thought I'd like baked beans on a nachos, but it worked. each nachos chip was loaded. We did go back a second time the next day for lunch with a friend. She'd never been here before, but liked it and said her dad and brother would love it. She could only finish half beef rib meal. The sides were good, they are in the process of changing the menu a little. This is not a town that likes very spicy food, so you had to request heat. The Mexican corn needed a boost Mexican chilli powder, but it's catered to local tastes. It was good, I'd order again. Home made baked beans. Very good. We enjoyed the fries, but wish we had changed them out for something more exotic on the sides menu. Would we return, we did, ordered the same thing all over again and still enjoyed it. Wished the cook but as many baked beans on the nachos. Maybe request more because it is good. All I can say is, you gotta eat here, even if you are travelling along the 401. It's worth the detour up to Chatham for the restaurant.

They had this killer corn beef sandwich with salad and a house beer balsamic vinaigrette that was amazing. A little on the salty side so I needed a bit of water but damn the sauce was so good I asked for seconds to use as dipping for my corn beef sandwich. The corn beef sandwich was rich and juicy and bursting with flavour . Topped with a dry rye bread that really balanced it all out. As for the beers my favourite was the spirit wolf. A light blonde beer with a strong pleasant aroma of coffee. If you ever I'm Chatham i would definitely recommend checking out this brewery if you are a beer afficianado. Update : went another two times before leaving Chatham and would recommend the space heater zephyr and spirit wolf beers super tasty and interesting , banh mi was not pickled enough in regards to the veggies so I found it only okay but that might just be because I have high standards as a Vietnamese person lol. Got Reuben sandwich again and can say it is very consistent and delicious . Also bread and butter is a must try. Sounds simple but they addd a bit of Honey and a little something else that just makes it oh so divine. Will definitely come here again if I'm in town

They have about 8 or 9 sandwich options all made to order on a crispy focaccia bread. They also offer my favorite, San Pellegrino Italian sodas and homemade chocolate chip sea salt cookies. They slice the meat for you right there and it was all super fresh. I got the #2 which had salami, prosciutto, and capicola with burrata and pickled hot peppers. The sandwich was good and tasted really fresh. I really enjoyed the burrata. I also did not miss the fact that there was no sauce or spread on it. I'm not a huge fan of crispy or hard bread, so I think I would have loved it even more if there was a soft bread option. I definitely look forward to returning though, maybe they do have another bread option available, I didn't ask. You can also customize the sandwich, so I would have added some arugula. The cookie was incredible!

Staff are always…read morefriendly and welcoming - but its the sandwiches that really keep me coming back every time I'm in Stratford. The newest location is right by the river - with lots of public parking across the street. Beautiful old building and a nicer overall decor than the previous spot. Still colourful - with cool drawings of their famous sandwiches on the walls. Lots on offer, but really, who am I kidding? "Mennonite sandwich, please" is what I said - and what you better say if you know what's good for ya. That delicious summer sausage, fresh corn relish with a subtle but delicious kick of spice. The cheddar - classic taste - nice slice - just how I like it. Definitely not processed cheese. The fresh country white bread - melt in your mouth but still with a crunchy brown crust. MMMMMMMMMennonites seem to have the secret of sandwich making down pat. This is the kind of sandwich that puts hair on your chest...What's that joke - why do Mennonite boys grow beards? Because they want to look just like their moms! Lol a bit off side maybe there - but my point is simple - a hearty, tasty sandwich - one of the best and most classic available in Ontario. Get out there and grab a few. The baking is also delicious!!

Fab! The best sandwiches in Stratford! At INCREDIBLE prices, too!!!…read more Check out the checklist-style takeout menu: http://www.yorkstreetkitchen.com/YSKSandwichmenu.pdf Most of my friends are huge fans of the Mennonite Sandwich. I enjoy the Othello (sans pesto, of course) but most often create-my-own. Last time I was there I had local goats cheese (swoon-inducing) on multigrain (OMG freshly-baked and so so so good) with alfalfa sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocados, lettuce, roasted sweet red peppers, honey mustard (made by local mennonites!) & mayo. I always add the "deli dills" - I'm pretty sure they're local mennonite too. Needless to say, PHENOMENAL. They also have THE MOST AMAZING 4-bean salad. Try it. Trust me. I don't even LIKE bean salad all that much... this one converted me. Really. GET IT. They lose a star because it's time to fix the service. It takes waaay too long to get your food, and that's true whether you eat in or order from the take-out window. Service is a bit better for breakfast, but still nothing to rave about. Expect to wait 20-30 minutes for your food. The kitchen & waitstaff are unfortunately more often than not visibly frazzled/stressed. I have been here for breakfast a bunch of times, as well as dinner once or twice. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their jam - "moss berry" - never heard of it before or since! For dinner, I've had the Spinach, Marinated Mushroom, Red Onion and Goat Cheese Pizza ($6.50) as well as the Caramelized Broccoli, Red Onion and Ricotta Stuffed Pasta Shells baked in a our slow-cooked Tomato Sauce ($13.95). Both VERY yummy. Their breakfast burrito is legendary. I must recommend it as your first breakfast expedition at YSK. For meat-eaters, try the peameal bacon. LOCAL PORK FACTOIDS: A note on peameal bacon + Stratford: this is prime peameal bacon territory. If you don't make it to YSK, try to get to the Stratford Farmer's Market where you will find a chuckwagon of sorts vending DREAMY peameal bacon sandwiches. OMG. AMAZING. Perth County produces some of the best pork in the country. If you're passing through Shakespeare on the way to Stratford (or back - it's just east of Stratford), make a stop at "The Best Little Pork Shoppe", which is certainly NOT little. Check it out: http://www.porkshoppe.com/ Last interesting pork fact? The Annual Ontario Pork Congress happens in Stratford too. Just one more point in proof that Stratford is THE place to be eating pork. Which I don't, to clarify. I've been a veghead for 13 years now. But I have juicy childhood memories of Saturday mornings at the market with my Dad eating peameal bacon sandwiches with LOCAL bacon, LOCAL cheddar cheese, FRESHLY-CHURNED LOCAL butter on a FRESHLY-BAKED kaiser bun. FOR REAL. Back to TSK breakfast. I've also had the French Toast with local maple syrup and some sort of homemade apple-pie-filling-type side (INCREDIBLE) and the H.M.S. Pinafore Breakfast Sandwich (toasted bagel with that gorgeous local goat cheese, smoked salmon, tomato, onion & lettuce) is worth a try too! So basically, if you're looking for a unique, personality-filled, delicious place for breakfast, brunch or lunch, HEAD HERE!
