4 to a 4.5 Can I…read morejust first start by saying I really underestimated a medium, I was so full, I almost threw up eating the last bite. Yes, that's TMI but that's how full I was lol. I'm also probably just a weakling and shouldn't have forced myself to eat all that. Anyways, I have only heard good things about firehouse subs forever. Surprisingly, my bf has tried it before I have and he too raves about them. I finally had a chance to try a few bites from my friends' subs as they had ordered some through skip the dishes. I was blown away. I tried a few bites of the Italian and the Steak and Cheese and it was sooooo good. Also, for a bootleg Philly cheesesteak, which I know they do not claim to be, it was pretty good!! So a week later I was super craving my own and could not stop thinking about it. Thankfully for me, there's one an 8 minute drive away. Since I had such a good experience with the Italian that's what I decided to order. A medium. Also I had no idea you could add certain extra toppings at no fee, until my gf started ordering them lol next time. Anyways, somehow my friend's sub last week tasted so much better and it was delivery! Lol. Maybe it's because I got whole wheat. I need to make note to stick to white bread next time. The sub was still super tasty, packed with meat and fresh ingredients. I love their buns. They're the perfect softness. I hate buns that are hard and hurt my gums. Ya I'm sounding hella old. I'm super impressed with these subs and it's literally just a sub but I find myself craving them all the time! I can't wait to try all the flavours!

New restaurants often receive lots of hype, but it's not too often a restaurant chain does…read more However, word of Firehouse Subs has been making quite a bit of noise since they've entered the GTA market in the last year or so. Hype is great to generate buzz, but it can also lead to unrealistic expectations. I'm happy to report that Firehouse has completely met and even surpassed my high expectations. I'd heard great things about their meatball sub, so I went with that on my first visit. I had a couple years as a teenager loving meatball subs at Subway, but have since largely moved on due the sub-par meat quality. The meatball sub here is EXACTLY what you would look for in a proper meatball sub. The meat quality is top notch, and that along with the sauce really brings out a great homemade feel. And of course with a sandwich, you can't overlook the importance of the bun and Firehouse has knocked it out of the park in that regard. It should be noted that all subs are toasted here. They also ensure it's toasted thoroughly so it will take a few minutes for your sub to be finished. Beyond that, they only have a handful of toppings to choose from, and ones that are conducive for a toasted sub - so no lettuce, tomato and others. There are still a few others however, such as bell peppers, jalapenos and more. I wanted to wait for another visit before I gave my review since a meatball sub could be a bit easier for a toasted sub place to pull off. I came in today and ordered the beef brisket sandwich. They describe it as smoked for 16 hours, though obviously it wouldn't be the same as a brisket from a BBQ joint. The brisket is deli-style meat, but their fridge is on full display and you can see that it arrives whole, which means they would slice it fresh. Beyond that, once I received my sandwich and began to eat, it's clear that it's about the highest quality deli meat available. It was apparent from the look and the taste, and even the smoked quality was evident. I brought a co-worker on this visit and she absolutely loved her steak and cheese sandwich. It's all about the quality of the ingredients here which makes the sandwiches great. They are also well-staffed here to manage many customers and they're super-friendly. I'm not sure how much I buy into the firehouse theme or even the fundraising/philanthropy aspect of the business - but when the food is this good it doesn't even matter.

September 4/2025: Dinner with Bruce/Cathy/Al & Dawn…read more This is a brand new remodeled restaurant with many start up pains but still a solid 4* to be sure. The service was a bit slow & disorganized but that's to be expected given the stage of the start up. Our server(s) were very nice & did a great job of looking after the table & were very attentive. The beer I had (Moretti-$8.50) wasn't as cold as it should have been, so the server replaced it. As for food...I ordered the Mesquite BBQ Chicken Pizza ($18.99) which was on special at $3.00 off for Thursday. The pizza was delicious. Perfectly done but it lacked enough BBQ sauce. It was good on the toppings & I asked for it to be well done which it was. The owner was very kind & was clearly working on making our dining experience as good as it could have been. As a new Spot they offered espresso & churros as a no charge promo. This was a casual but good dining experience. Great menu selection so that means if definitely go back. It's a solid 4-Star.

The entire restaurant, except one table, was empty. We waited until she came by to the main door, to escort us to a table. Ordered a Margherita - she comes back to say they don't have the ingredients for it. So I switched to a Coke. Comes absolutely flat. Zero fizz. See picture. It's been 20 minutes. Feels like a total disaster so far. Waiting for the food. Hopefully the kitchen is staffed and we won't have to wait hours for food. Hope floats. 35 mins from the time we placed the order for food. Nothing yet. Just checked all the 5 star reviews by the professional 'local guide' reviewers and realized everything is for sale these days. We called her and she said our order is not even in yet. And now we are leaving. She did not charge us for the flat coke, by saying "I'll pay for it". Just when I told my wife, that this experience wasn't really the servers fault, she tries guilt shaming us instead of a genuine apology. Every thing that can be a disaster in a restaurant, was a disaster here. Dont make the mistake of going here. Especially if you're celebrating or if it's a significant day for you. Never mind the paid for, "5 star" reviews by the "local guides"

My main complaint is that it wasn't enough meat but maybe I'm asking for too much at that price.. The fries were 5/5 excellent, the beans were very tasty and the beef had a delicious texture and flavour, especially with that strip of fat on every piece. Vegans need not apply. Some of the beef cuts were almost dry but that was easily resolved when lathered in mouth-watering hot sauces (northern heat & I can't remember the other but it was 4 's) My son got a dish with their "dirty rice" as a side and that was also well seasoned , is probably try it as a 3rd side next time.. I don't think my wife was into her shrimp dish , not sure.. I tried the shrimp and while it was good, I was glad to go back to my brisket right after. Would go back.

This was one of the only places a guy that I was seeing when I was in my early twenties and I would go, late at night, when we knew we wouldn't catch anyone else we knew out. The food was predictable, always - and not in a bad way - it just hit the spot after a night of drinking, or when you are hungover. The salad will forever have too much dressing and will be the unhealthiest thing but the souvlaki here was honestly the most shocking thing. Mind you I have not been in six and a half or seven years so don't take my word for it, but for a place to be around this long and still have loyal customers - they're really doing something right, it's not just sheer luck so give it a go! There is zero ambiance or date night feel here, okay. Don't take your girl unless you've been married over ten years. It's boys or girls night out material only. haha

Tips: - The porchetta sandwich is divine!…read more- Biggies is beside Pizza Pizza and a few doors down from Kung Fu Tea. A recent Yelp elite experience put Biggies Gourmet Foods on my radar. For years, I have visited this plaza that has Biggies, but never noticed it until now. Biggies used to be called Porchetta Roll. I dropped by after work on a Wednesday. It was roughly 2:30 pm. This eatery is roughly a ten-minute drive from my workplace. It's in a plaza that I visit regularly. It has Cora, Kung Fu Tea, and Lezzet Shawarma that I like. It's easier to look for Pizza Pizza. Next to the orange sign is Biggies. I found an available parking spot fairly close to Biggies. I backed into the spot and walked over to the eatery. A female customer was ahead of me. She picked up an order and left. The nice man behind the counter cheerfully said hi. I reciprocated. He asked me what I'd like. I had looked at the list of sandwiches and mini meals before dropping by. I had the porchetta sandwich on my mind. After all, if it was a part of the original name, it must be good, right? He went ahead and made my sandwich. I saw him lightly toast what looked like a kaiser bun. The place smelled good. The porchetta is roasted for a good twelve hours. It has garlic aioli, mustard, sautéed onions, and arugula. He saw me looking at the Biggies cap. I loved it so much with the cute bear logo. I let him know that I'd be back for it and the meatball sandwich. The photo alone of this sandwich made me salivate hard. He handed me my sandwich in a paper bag. I thanked him and wished him a great day. He hoped that I'd like the sandwich. I left and headed to my car. I was still stuffed from lunch. I ended up running a bunch of errands before heading home. I had this sandwich as a snack watching the Winnipeg Jets game. This sandwich was massive! The man had wrapped the sandwich such that it was upside down with the arugula at the bottom of the top bun. It was interesting. I loved how tender the porchetta was. It was so flavourful and yummy. The garlic aioli and mustard were the perfect pairing of condiments for this sandwich. I loved the sautéed onions that brought out the natural pork flavour while providing some sweetness. I normally don't like using arugula in salads or anything because it tends to overpower everything with its peppery, bitter, nutty taste. I feel like the baby arugula chosen for this sandwich wasn't as in-your-face in boldness as it can be. It was a light peppery flavour that worked well with the other ingredients. This sandwich was so good. I am still thinking about how awesome it was. The porchetta sandwich goes for $12. It is packed with a lot of love. I'd definitely return and get another one. It's worth it, as the sandwich is massive. I had a great experience at Biggies. I'll be back for more good eats. (110)

I ordered a small 6oz grilled chicken plate (42g protein), with potatoes, caesar salad, and biggie's sauce. First off, the portions are MASSIVE. I was so full and had so much leftover potatoes after my meal, even though everything was delicious and I was straight inhaling it all. The chicken was brined, seasoned, and grilled to perfection-- I also don't typically go for chicken as my first choice of protein but this breast was JUICYYY. And with the biggie's sauce? Total flavor bomb. Caesar salad was just as expected, it added freshness and tang paired with the chicken and potatoes. The place is small, but clean and has a decent amount of seating available. The guy at the front was super friendly and gave great recommendations on what to pair my chicken with. I also really liked the music they put on, whoever was on aux has a great taste! The location and exterior of biggie's is unsuspecting for the quality of food they serve so it definitely classifies as a hidden/local gem. If you're a gym rat or in need of a balanced, filling meal that won't leave you feeling bloated or disgusting, I highly recommend their plates. However I will definitely be back to try their porchetta and fried stuff. 10/10 spot.
