On this special occasion I thought it appropriate to visit it and write a follow-up review. So today, I drove up to this BJ's to do just that. From the moment I arrived at their parking lot, the first thing I noticed was how clean and organized it was, compared to other wholesale clubs, and its modern storefront that seems to be a preview of what you will find inside. Inside, you can always find a shopping cart of which one of their employees has brought in. I like their well lit space and the cleanliness of the store reflected in their sparkling clean floors. Their large screen tvs display is very impressive, as well as all the holiday items they always stock the store with. Most of their employees are very friendly and helpful, and if any are not, management listens to customer's feedback and takes action to make it right. Today, I went to the Deli department to purchase some Chorizo Cantimpalo, and noticed they had hired a very efficient and friendly lady with nice customer service skills. It's a pleasure to shop at a place with employees like these. Their prices are very good for items you always buy, such as Evian Natural Spring Water, which is my favorite. Besides this, today they had a sale that if your bought two 12 bottle cases you received $4 off. Today, I noticed a sign about their app's ExpressPay feature and that you got "$10 off on your first ExpressPay purchase of $10 or more." So I decided to use this feature, but was a little hesitant. But I asked for some assistance from one of the checkout associates, and found it very easy to use and very convenient. As I was leaving, I saw a sign at their Optical department announcing "a comprehensive eye exam by a Doctor of Optometry using a state-of-the-art technology." It appeared to be in person, but when I asked it ended up being a Remote Eye Exam. This is one where "an on-site technician operates the instruments while a licensed optometrist reviews the images and talks to you via a live two-way video call." This eye exam doesn't include eye delation. "Instead, it relies on digital retinal photography to capture pictures of the back of your eye without using liquid dilation drops." I also asked the associate in that department, if I brought an eyeglass prescription from an optometrist, if they could make my eyeglasses there and if they accepted insurance. He said they could, but didn't take insurance. So for people with insurance, I don't see the monetary advantage. As I was leaving, I showed the BJ's associate at the exit a QR code on my BJ's app. He scanned it plus three of the items I bought and let me through. Depending on one's situation, one can benefit from the services offered by wholesale clubs like this BJ's.

I also had reward points on my BJ's credit card. My son chose a 43 inch Samsung. No issues checking out. Staff was ok checking out and receipt check. I'm sure I will be back at some point with my son now residing in Roanoke.

If you shop at Bargain Barn in Proctorville they are going to charge you a different amount than…read morethe amount they tell you when it is rung up if you use a debit card. My receipt says 98.06 and I have that receipt but they also have me another receipt that says 101.98. I didn't see that until I got home. My bad. I called them and talked to Jeff's gf and she really didn't care. I told her I am posting this and she said ok. Ok. So beware if you shop there. They are charging you an addition 4 cents on the dollar she told me. I won't be going back there.

Yesterday I self-scanned probably $700 worth of merchandise. I had exactly 4 items left in my cart…read morewhen the scanner went down. The woman came over and said I needed to use a different register. I asked her if I needed to re-scan everything I had already scanned. She said yes. I walked out. Today I drove almost 2 hours (4 hours round trip) to go to Costco to get the same items I was planning on buying yesterday. About a month ago I got there at exactly 8 AM to shop (not $700 that time). As I was leaving the guy ahead of me at the check-out probably did have $700 worth of merchandise. The woman at the door seemed to be checking EVERY item in his cart against his register slip. I went around and headed for the door. She yelled at me that I needed to stop and have my cart checked. A second employee also yelled the same thing. I turned and told them both that I wasn't an employee of theirs and that if they didn't trust me then they needed to hire more people on the registers. Absolutely the worst shopping experiences of my 77 years. I can only hope Costco opens a store closer to home.

After multiple times of coming in and waiting to be assisted for 30 minutes +, I finally went to the car and called the office from my phone. I asked the lady that answered if I needed to come on a certain day or maybe make an appointment because I had came in and waited with no one seeking to help me. To which her response was "There are no appointments. We are just busy." Glasses are good. Office seems clean. The office on the left side for the appointments is really outdated and cluttered. Super sad that this is the only place that my insurance will accept.
