This used to be a place that my family loved getting food from till today. Made an online order at 221pm it stated that the order would be ready at 246. Arrived at 243 and paid for the order. Order was not ready . They stated it would take 15-20 minutes. I didn't not walk out of the restaurant till 345 with the order. While asking about it in between I was told 3 different times that it would be done shortly. I was also told that they were running behind, which is cool but state that in the beginning. Nobody wants to wait over an hour after your order was supposed to be ready . I could have went somewhere else. Final kicker is that we get home and the food doesn't taste quite well. I'm going to start this review by saying that this used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Northeast. Used to be. They had two owners before. The food, service, atmosphere was so good. The prices way lower then they should have been. I recommend it to everyone and frequently enjoyed it! Then everything changed. Sam, the then only owner, first moved his "office" in the first booth as you walked into the restaurant. It started with some paperwork, an occasional interview. One night, it was a huge fight between the cook and Sam. It was embarrassing for everyone in the place. That was our last visit for years, until tonight. I was craving some food Chinese and was on the Northeast side of town and saw the building. Since I never had an issue with the food, and this was a take out order anyway, why not!! It's not even close to the same. The place was dirty and run down. His office still in the first booth. The food was blah. The supposedly spicy General Tso was really flavorless, except for the jalapeno, yes, jalapeno in it. Not the spicy chili peppers, or red chili flakes, but one jalapeno, on the top. The Crab Rangoon, again, was flavorless. It a just cream cheese with maybe some pureed crab-like sorta substance. Although, I would say, it was deep fried wonderfully. So disappointed. read more

The food has always been good however when you order extra stuff like soy sauce they make you pay for it and then don't get it. This has happened twice. Today I called in this mistake and the MANAGER insisted she put in and proceeded to argue with me. I love this place but I will never get food here again. Dinner date & everything was delish. Best egg drop soup I've had in a long time. This was first time trying the dumplings and we liked them both steamed and fried, they were very fresh. Also recommend the beef chow mein. They don't skimp on portion size here and you definitely get your money's worth. Our server was so courteous and the nicest waitress we've had in a hot minute. This place gets busy on Friday nights but we had no wait time. I have had Sam's Bistro a few times already and every time I am left consistently disappointed. The ambiance of the restaurant is charming, and I will say well done. The food is visually appetizing and smells delicious. However the flavor and texture of the food is of substandard quality. The beef and chicken they serve is questionable, tasting of tap water as if it were desperately rinsed to rid of contamination. It is often shredded and mangled to hide it's appearance underneath a bouquet of undercooked broccoli and bell peppers. The dumplings they serve smells as if they were in a dirty bin with flavor equal to intensity. Noodles were also thick and mushy. Much of the food is of course not traditionally Chinese in flavor, ingredients, and preparation, however I would've been able to look past that if the food they served was actually delicious. Much of the sauces they use is budget and watered down, and it is clear they are cutting corners in preparation. The steamed rice was the only thing that can be eaten without too much worry, however it is clearly unwashed and seems akin to the quality of Uncle Ben's or Great Value brand rice. I will not say staff service was either poor or abysmal, but below average for a local experience. Servings were often huge and although that may seem like a plus, it feels as though they were trying to get rid as much food as they could. I tried to like this restaurant time after time again, with their huge variety of meat, soup, and vegetable options, however the quality and flavor of it all is so repeatedly bad that I just had to write a negative critique for this spot. After looking at other reviews and photos of this restaurant I am not surprised at their consistent low ratings and will not be eating here again. read more

The hole in the wall restaurant! This has been one of the best delivery Chinese food in the area. While only in Fort Bliss for a short period of time me and my friends were looking for beef chow fun. Surprisingly we checked through around 10 restaurants on yelp no luck. Then we found Sam's Chinese Bistro had great prices for lunch specials that we can order everyday! (Most restaurants exclude lunch specials for the weekends). The food arrives in a short period of time, nicely displayed in these togo containers. Not sure why there are bad reviews. Everything we've eaten is delicious with 25 years of eating Chinese food I think this is my top 10 togo! I would highly recommend! We were there waiting for the food, picked up and 5 min drive home. Food was cold and flavorless. Orange chicken had one slice orange peel and one broccoli and had a cold mushy texture. My review is based solely upon my delivery experience, or lack thereof. I ordered online, which was pretty easy. The wait time was an hour. An hour and 15mins later, I called. The first person said my order hadn't been "tagged" yet (not sure what that means) and that it would be another hour or hour & a half AT LEAST. Incredibly frustrating. The next person said the food was on its way and that it should be there within 20mins. Mind you, I live less than 10 minutes away, but okay. So, after waiting for an extra 45 minutes, I decided to cancel my order. This was a really frustrating experience and I'm not sure we will ever try this place again. UPDATE: My food was delivered a few minutes after I posted this review. Ha, typical, right? The food is alright. It's pretty standard Americanized Chinese food. The crab rangoons are a little weird. Hot and sour soup is good. The meat quality is pretty low. The fried dumplings aren't bad. It's just alright. Okay I'm just going to say this the last visit I had with the disappointment but the only reason I'm giving good stars is because I always get good service there the food is on point but this time they forgot all about me I was sitting there with my dad and my son and we're just eating what they brought and we're waiting for the pork fried rice and we're like. Super anxious waited way too long but the food was good for sure for the price the value it's worth it try it out my problem was the service who's on point.. Personal opinion, this place has potential to rival PF Changs if they changed a few things. The decor is very clubby, the lighting is not comforting, I was like you were stuck in a twilight zone episode or if you are in a flashback of a dramatic scene, if they chose to go d as rk with individual table lighting it would have worked out. The atmosphere was quietly awkward, some background instrumental chinese music would have helped. The servers were prompt and cordial, they made sure to check we had water and utensils. Food wise this place has decent flavor, but the quality of ingredients were a roulette depending on what you order. It's understandable for the price you can't complain that the ingredients are not five stars. My biggest grievance is the use of spaghetti noodles for the Dan Dan mien, and my coworker said he bit into a piece of meat that was freezer burnt. Pros on using fresh veggies, con on using freezer burnt meat. Overall, this place is worth of being a solid take out restaurant. Side note after looking at other reviews, the owner needs to make sure his chefs' work ethic stay consistent or it can very easily drive customers away. read more

FRUSTRATING EXPERINCE. I placed an order for Pick-up via Door Dash. When I went to the restaurant to pickup my order, I was told by the staff there that "If it's a pickup order, Door Dash does not send us the order. So you have to cancel the order from Door Dash, and place the order here". This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. My husband and I were craving Chinese food and haven't liked any of the other places we've been to so we tried this place. We picked up to go so we knew it wasn't going to be as good as it would be in house. We ordered 2 entrees, one noodle dish, a soup, and an appetizer. The two entrees were okay but weren't what we were thinking at all. It was equivalent to getting it frozen from the store and heating it up. The chow mein was made with top ramen like noodles and had had globs of sauce in random parts of the noodles. The dumplings were okay, I'm a fan of fried dumplings but steamed (how they come) is good too. Lastly was the egg drop soup which was alright. There wasn't any peas and carrots I normally see in there but that's alright. For lunch today I had some left overs and found a piece of metal something inside one of the chicken pieces. I go to Sam's for lunch a few times a month with colleagues from work. The lunch specials are incredibly cheap and the food is Amazing. You can get two full meals, a full plate of rice, drinks and soup for about $19. Individual lunch meals are $5-$7. We go with a group of four usually and order two lunch combos so everyone gets to pick their dish and we share. There is always food left over to take home. I think people should rate a restaurant low because they have an ax to grind or a single experience that somehow rubbed them the wrong way.
