Ready to go home!
Jeanna A.

We had a wonderful experience adopting our kitty from here. The facility is clean and well managed, with lots of room for the kitties to roam around. There was an abundance of toys, soft places for cats to relax, water fountains, and even access to a catio (and enclosed outdoor patio) for some of the cats. Everyone on staff is friendly and can answer questions about the cats. The adoption application is online and was quick to complete. In the covid era they do require appointments to visit and interact with the cats, and ask that you sanitize hands and wear a mask. I'm so glad they let you interact before adopting because so many places aren't allowing that right now. Our fur baby was already fixed, and had his rabies and FVRCP vaccines administered by the crew on site when he was rescued. I'm not sure what their fee structure is, but we paid $70 + $15 for a microchip (optional) to adopt a two y/o kitty. We're so excited to welcome Oliver (previously Citrus) to our family and are so grateful that Sammie's Friends rescued him and cared for him until he found his furever home with us!

Lara Mitchell 405-627-9772 Anyone who has this cat foster or adoption please call. I have looked for him for 6 years. And he has a family and we just want him home. He is lived and missed dearly. Thank you in advance for your help in getting him back to Oklahoma with his family! I would leave zero stars if I could. So my cat was posted on their website September 11 2024. Of course by the time I found it comments were turned off. I live in Oklahoma and the breeder of my cat phoned me and told me that my missing cat Sir Gilmour Poo D Cat was listed in lost and found savannah cats on Facebook. It then led back to this shelter. I emailed and left many messages. Finally I was able to reach Alicia currie who then told me that the cat I was speaking of was under two years old and that could not be my cat. Clearly by the photos this cat is not under two years old. At one point in our conversation she asked me to hold so she would speak to the director. Funny when I asked to speak to the head of the place she stated she was the only one there that worked with the cats. But she didn't place me on hold , she hung up on me. Alicia I cannot explain how he ended up in California. I wish I could. However there are tons of stories where lost animals are found states away. Just Google it. My cat doesn't have his own border control. Just because he is lost in Oklahoma doesn't mean he cannot cross the Oklahoma border. And so I wish I could explain that to you. And I did explain how he had an unregistered chip. I have been able to provide all the documentation and proof to show this to you. But Alicia you lied and said to the don't have access to emails so I cannot email you the proper verification. Then your statement of this isn't my cat because he is under two and that he has been adopted and nothing I can do about it. Wrong. I would bet he's at your house. Alicia you have no business working with animals and I pitty any animal in your care. I can prove through the breeder the vet and the data mark petlink chip company that he is my cat and why his chip is unregistered. But I was told due to his adoption there is nothing I can do about it. I was then told next time adopt don't shop, make sure my chip is registered and to not give my money to a breeder. Alicia currie is my cat at your house? And Alicia just because I paid money for my cat doesn't mean he is not a cat who is loved and wanted home. Your personal opinions are not valid and when it comes to my cat he is a family memeber. And we love him. Anyone with any info please help me get my boy home. Lara Mitchell 405-627-9772 His name is Sir Gilmour Poo D Cat. Missing from Oklahoma since July 11 2019. I have looked for him every day since then.plEase help me get him home.

The new kitty

I adopted 2 cats and it was a very enjoyable experience with both. The 1st kitty passed away after having her for 10 months from cancer. But I decided that another cat could come home.

Rocky and a friend. A moth hitched a ride on his collar.

Animal Place - Thank the Turkeys, great event!

We had booked a private tour for his birthday to meet the rescue animals who call this beautiful place home. Yasmin met us at the entrance and, after swapping shoes for some solid boots, gave us a very honest, very real, and very important rundown of industrial agriculture. Now, I have to add, neither of us are vegan or even vegetarian, but Yasmin proved to be an actively non judgmental, compassionate host. She walked us through the grounds, addressing each animal by name, and was full of knowledge and insight! After the initial meet and greet, we were off! We hiked across the beautiful grounds and met tons of sheep (Jet loved my partner!) goats, and pigs; all of the animals roam freely, coming and going as they please. It was actually delightful how so many of the animals came up to say hi and hang out out of their own volition! We brought some grapes for the chickens and they LOVED them! But oh my god, the turkeys. Wow, just, two little friendly, fluffy orbs that floated around our party showing off while Yasmin gave us an informed and empathetic story about them. She did that at every habitat; letting us in, introducing us (by name!) to the boldest of the bunch, and explaining how they ended up at Animal Place. It was an entirely wonderful, enlightening experience. Also, fyi, turkeys are so soft. I cannot recommend this organization enough. 10/10, please give Conrad an extra treat for me!

Ian and Amy run one of the most caring and well run rescue projects I've ever been too. Most of the…read moredogs they house would have been put down if not for them and it is a joy watching the animals come out of their shells around others. I helped out at their place for a long weekend and even over that time, it was amazing to see the progress that their new rescues made. The youngest puppy went from cowering and lashing out to fully playing with the other dogs under Ian and Amy's guidance. I could not recommend adopting from them highly enough. You can also be confident in your choice since the Spandows know their rescues so well. They will walk you through the dogs' personality, temperament, and fit with your home. Im happy to have supported such a good cause.

I've always been an avid lover of all animals, especially dogs, so when my doctor recommended I consider looking into service pups or one I can train to my needs, I was beyond excited and nervous. I wasn't actively looking too hard when I came across a posting for Little Ziggy and said "hey, why not inquire about him?" After an initial telephone conversation with Ian where we discussed Ziggy, another beautiful shepherd River and my needs, he invited me up to their beautiful home to meet "the pack". Upon arriving, I met River and Ziggy, both absolutely beautiful smart dogs, but something just wasn't quite right. Amy then brings out the most gorgeous girl I've ever seen, then known as Sally. I felt a connection almost immediately and after spending time with her and hearing her back story, said I'd be back in a few days to hang out again. On my hour and a half drive home, I couldn't stop thinking about her. There was just something in her eyes that made me realize this was my girl. As long as Amy and Ian would allow, I wanted her to be my companion for life. I headed up Friday and the connection was still there!! We made up our minds I would come pick her up on Sunday morning and start our life together, seeing how she'd mesh with my little indoor farm of two bunnies and two kitties. She jumped right into my car on Sunday like "you're not leaving me again lady!!" As soon as we got to my house, she made herself at home and made quick friends with Grimm, my two year old tuxedo cat. I cannot wait to see how her personality unfolds day after day! I cannot thank Spandow House enough. Anyone looking for a forever companion with the best manners and temperament, PLEASE reach out to Spandow House. They will make sure it's a good fit for everyone involved and I'm lucky to call them a part of my chosen family now. Sage and I will forever be in debt to you for how you've cared for her, and we can't wait to share our lives together!
