Worked directly with Cotto, this review is form first hand experience…read more Mrs. Cotto's legal practice and methods are From my experience are less than ethical. She is not board certified in any discipline of the Law. A Board Certified Specialists are lawyers who have been recognized by the State Bar as demonstrating superior knowledge, skill, integrity, professionalism and competence in a specific area of law. Mrs, Cotto has had a career all over the board as a public defender and now family law. Mrs. Cotto is not from the United States and is completely unaware of how our sophisticated culture works. In my experience she is more likely to try and drive up client billable hours as supposed to attempt to reach amicable solutions. In my experience Mrs. Cotto employed bulling tactics and will attempt to intimidate and push you around. It's almost comical. She dose not speak English as a first language. The problem is if you have children, Mrs. Cotto's tactics in the long run created incredible duress on all parties involved. The out come will be less than desirable when it's all over and she is paid. If you want your spouse to suffer and allow the process to destroy any hopes of an amicable relationship and eliminate any hopes to create a healthy environment for the future of your children then Mrs. Cotto is your attorney. My experience with Mrs. Cotto's clients is they do not abide by court orders and injunctions. I though attorneys were suppose to uphold the integrity of the courts and the orders they hand down? '

I was introduced to Sonja Duckstein about five or six years ago, and since then, I've reached out…read moreto her multiple times--for myself and for others--for various consultations. Each time, Sonja has proven to be an incredible resource: calm, clear, responsive, and genuinely on your side. Most recently, I experienced one of the scariest moments of my life--A dozen police officers showed up at my home, guns drawn, yelling for me to come out. They had a search warrant. After a long twenty minutes turned out the search warrant was for an individual I had rented the guest house to. In the middle of the chaos, the only person I could think to call was Sonja. True to form, she picked up immediately. Her calm demeanor and steady voice helped me breathe. She listened carefully, explained exactly what was happening, told me what my rights were, and walked me through the steps I needed to take. Just knowing she was there, guiding me through it, made a huge difference. Situations like these don't just test your nerves--they test your trust in the people you turn to for help. I've always been a tough critic when it comes to reviews (usually I only write them when I'm unhappy), but I can say without hesitation that I have 100% confidence in recommending Sonja. She's one of the very few people I trust fully, and she's earned that trust over and over again. If you find yourself needing a criminal defense lawyer--whether it's something serious or just needing clear advice--Sonja is definitely the person you want in your corner

When we met with our attorney, she was very kind and courteous to us. Her paralegal was wonderful in gathering information and always returned phone calls and messages incredibly timely. We as parents put our faith and trust into these individuals and thought we had done so well. We spoke with our legal team last week and were given no indication that anything was wrong. We were expecting to proceed forward when we received a letter in the mail, after six months of building a relationship, stating they were withdrawing representation. While I understand making business decisions, the fact that we were not given the courtesy of a phone call after all the trust and faith we bestowed in them was very, very discouraging. To add insult to injury, they spelled our daughter's name wrong three times in the correspondence they sent us withdrawing representation. I am still shocked that after six months building rapport, this is how we were treated. I had thought that we were more than just possible dollars to them and that they were truly vested in making sure our daughter was protected in the future, but apparently, I gave them far to much respect and trust than they deserved.

I was so impressed with all of their legal knowledge, preparation and expertise. I have worked with other attorneys in the domestic relations field and Mr. Skupin and his staff are truly exceptional.
