Been here multiple times with family and even on a couple dates. Food is good I almost always choose the chicken pesto melt... YUM! Servers sometimes seem distant or not interested in conversation which I find odd since they are hardly ever busy. Would recommend if your looking for a quiet place to eat. We went to BG for the Black Swamp Festival and decided to stop in when we got hungry. The place was very clean, the decor was pleasant and I enjoyed the art work on the walls that must have been from a local artist. My husband and I both ordered burgers. They were both cooked perfectly, and tasted great. I especially liked the grilled bun which was a pleasant surprise. The burgers and sandwiches come with chips, but a pickle would have been a nice addition also, but no big deal. The waitress was nice and the service was good. We're from Perrysburg, but I'm looking forward to going back for dinner some night because they had a nice selection and some great daily specials. I'm looking forward to trying the Perch dinner, as we've just moved back to the area from Florida and I missed the Lake Erie Perch. read more

Great atmosphere, great food, and great drinks. Their menu has a lot to offer but not too much that it's overwhelming and confusing. Soup and salad are good, and I normally get the flat bread. I have been here multiple times and like it more each time. read more

Saturday night- 7:00 pm, every other restaurant in bowling green was packed with 45 min-and hour wait. First time at Sam bs and we had a party of 6, called in and they were extremely polite and said they would have a table right away for us. The place was full but we sure enough had a nice candle lit table. The lighting is great and the food was AMAZING. Great wine selection and has a good variety of food. I went there for lunch with a large group. Service was excellent. I asked for an open face tuna sandwich and the waitress didn't know what that was. So I explained. I got my tuna salad all on one piece of bread with an empty piece of bread lying next to it. That was ok. I re-made it and it was very very good. I am an out-of-towner but frequently am in town visiting, so I have eaten here often over the course of five years. No more. I am not going back. I have noticed a pattern in the negative reviews that matches my own experience. This is not acceptable for a restaurant that is purports to be (or what it could be really, if things were different). The food ingredients are of a decent quality (my burger was quality beef, but over-cooked), but the preparation and service is not acceptable. My last experience was typical: Mom ordered their Kaiser chicken sandwich but requested a regular bun instead of the Kaiser roll. Our waiter had to check...ok..then a waitress appeared and told us that the Kaiser roll really wasn't a Kaiser roll, it would be ok for her. Normally, not a big issue, but due to an upcoming medical procedure, we couldn't chance it. After more arguement, my wife suggested white bread..."OH ok". I kept my order simple...black n blue burger NO tomatoes. Waiter comes back, asks me how I want the burger cooked? Medium rare. After a bit of a long wait (not crowded at that time of day), food appears. As the waiter is putting my plate in front of me, he says, "oh, you wanted no tomatoes!" Sets it down and walks away....!? We eat...half way through, I see the burger is well done...no pink anywhere. At that point, different wait staff stopped by to ask..."everything ok?" After a pause, I managed a "good."...four times they returned to ask..? What do you do...send it back and wait for another burger... while everyone else finishes? Ridiculous. OK. Anytime the management starts to explain how the customer's minor wishes are not possible (or how is a Kaiser roll not really a Kaiser roll and you should eat it anyway?) Forget it. Then to notice the order is screwed up (out loud) and walk away..?. The young waiter was not rude, just appeared to be inexperienced, but the others were older and more experienced...just did not care. Based on my experience and the reviews here, you get what they choose to give you...not what you pay for. Should I have told them exactly what I thought? Why would I? They had already explained why I (the customer) was wrong. I will 'fast-food it' before I go back to Sam B's. Very Poor. read more

A Bowling Green classic, great food (sandwiches especially) and good drinks. Worth a visit for sure, I always come here when I'm back home.

When my husband and I moved to Bowling Green we pretty much gave up on going out to eat because we could not find a place in town that we liked enough to keep going back. We went to Sam B's as a tourist in the town, after walking up and down the Main Street we entered not knowing what to expect. We were greeted and seated promptly. The menu was such a pleasant surprise, it wondered a wide range of homemade soups, salads, pastas, and beef. I tried a shrimp linguini which was delicious. My husband had a filet that was cooked to perfection. The salads were a nice mix of a variety of greens, not just iceberg. Nice wine list. The service was excellent. We hosted my Mother-In-Law's 80th surprised birthday party at SamB's and we were thrilled with the service and food. It took one phone call to plan everything for over twenty people. The manager made it extremely easy and stress free. They provided dinner, cake and decor...all we had to do was show up. The private room's decorations for the party were beautiful...it looked like a mini-wedding reception. There were plants, lights, flowers and the set-up for the buffet was gorgeous. The staff was friendly and happy and very efficient. The food was absolutely delicious and the cake (with butter frosting) was better than any bakery could have baked. This was the easiest and most successful party that I have hosted. The cost was ridiculously low for what was included. I will definitely recommend SamB's for the rest of my life. read more

The only reason to give this place any stars is that it has nice waitstaff. But you go to a restaurant to eat. SamB's chef unfortunately does not seem to grasp the concept of flavor. They used to have one or two edible things, but lately they seem to regularly change their menu for the worse. If you are looking for vegetarian offerings, be prepared for lots of stuff in cream sauce with almost no taste. We ordered linguine in pesto, not realizing that it was "cream pesto". It was absolutely swimming in tasteless sauce-- cream with specks of green that perhaps might have tasted like pesto were it not overwhelmed by the white stuff. The mushrooms and broccoli stood no chance against the ghastly tide of glop. The pasta was half the volume of the sauce. The only thing that stood out was the sun dried tomatoes. Their so-called bruschetta is two pieces of bread drowned in icky sweet balsamic vinegar. Presentation is cute, skewered on a Rosemary branch, but again, no flavor other than the balsamic. This is why I don't eat out in my home town much. read more

My family from Columbus and Toledo met at Sam B's for a birthday luncheon today and this first visit exceeded any of our expectations. The restaurant atmosphere was quiet and enjoyable, the service was terrific, and the food was delectable. Our menu selections included Chicken Marsala, Cajun Tenderloin, the Roast Beef Platter and the Reuben Sandwich. The salads served with two of the entrees had a nice balance of green and red lettuce and the dressings are all homemade. The Lobster Bisque and Black Bean soups were also delicious. Our coffee cups and iced tea glasses were kept full and empty dishes were quickly cleared from the table. All in all, this was a very pleasant dining experience that we topped off with a shared piece of key lime pie - Yum! Try this restaurant - you won't be disappointed. read more

I was in bowling green to visit a friend in school. We decided to go to sambs for dinner before we went to the bars. We made a great decision! The food was great and the place was really cool inside. They had artwork displayed from local artists and a really friendly staff. I had the crab cakes and they were fantastic! They have a really good happy hour too. Great start to our night. Really quite a disappointing experience. The atmosphere is nice, but the food was incredibly bland and did not seem very fresh. I had the Chicken Parmesan and my girlfriend had the Orange Chicken Marsala, and neither had much of any taste. The same went for the vegetables, as well. Overall, I can't remember dining at a restaurant with less enjoyable food. You'd be better off checking out another place. read more

Sam B's is the community's first choice for a great meal for a great price. The food and service are always above average. I love being a "regular" and treated like family. The managers take the time to talk to you and ensure your experience is as good as it gets! It is our favorite restaurant in town for celebrating our anniversary with steak and seafood, taking the kids out for burgers and fries, or enjoying a happy hour with our friends. This restaurant is definitely more for the special occasions and not so much casual dining. And the prices are high. But the food is worth it! I have enjoyed several meals here, but the most popular dish (that is only offered Thursday thru Sunday) is the prime rib. Definitely my favorite as well. Their pasta, chicken entrees, and burgers are also fantastic. If you save room for dessert, go for either their famous cheesecake or the tiramisu. A bonus - $15 off your dinner if you go on your birthday! Another bonus - wonderful service! My husband and I were blessed to have our rehearsal dinner there in one of their larger, private rooms in the back. Extremely satisfied every time we go there. I ordered chipotli bites and a skewered bruschetta off the lunch menu. Instead i got cold bufflo bites and what appears to be "from last night sitting on the counter till now" skewered bruschetta.
