In search of some vegetables on a warm summer day, we stumbled upon SALÜ - Genuss am Fluss. The bulk of the dining is outdoors on mismatched tables spread throughout the lawn. In warm weather, the setting is absolutely phenomenal.
The cafe was very casual and there were many people lingering and drinking for hours. It had an artsy vibe and the clientele was mostly young and hip. The menu is small and changes every one or two weeks. I believe everything is vegetarian, but my German is terrible, so I could be wrong. We ordered a dish that was kind of like an open-faced roasted eggplant sandwich with roasted red pepper sauce and sesame pesto. I was fantastic! We also had a summer salad with lots of fruits and veggies and lightly fried halloumi cheese.
They also have an extensive drink list. Regional wines and beers, plus a well-rounded cocktail list. The beers were very reasonably priced at around 3 Euros. Actually, everything was really well priced, we had two entrees and four beers for around 35 Euros.
I would definatly recommend visiting this cafe - especially in the summer. It is a great place to spend a few hours with friends, food and drink. read more
