After three straight nights of traditional German food, I was craving something different. 36 Pho Co was the busiest restaurant in town on a quiet Tuesday night and we decided to give it a try. It turned out to be one of the best places we ate in three weeks in Europe.
The most popular thing here seems to be the fusion burgers, but I would argue that the best section of the menu is the sticky rice entrees. We had ours topped with duck and it was caramelized to perfection. I can't say enough good things about this dish. There were so many fun flavors in one bowl.
The portions here are more German than Vietnamese in that they are huge. The sticky rice entrees are enough (even more than enough) for an entire meal. I wouldn't recommend getting fries with your burger, you won't need them. I do, however, recommend saving room for dessert. The desserts are more modest in size, all homemade, and delicious.
It is also worth stating that the ambiance here is very nice. We were here in the summer and there was outdoor dining, a few tables downstairs, and a bustling loft area up top. People seemed to linger and sip on their tropical cocktails for hours.
Don't go here expecting traditional Vietnamese food. It is fusion, but fusion done in a tasteful way. Truly worth a visit! read more
