So we decided to check it out. They had a good selection of beers and allowed us to taste a few to get what we wanted. The beer was good and cold and the beer tenders were friendly and helpful. There is no table service, you go up and get your own. No problem if that's the gig. The music was awesome as many musicians dropped in to jam together in an cooperative fashion. We only had one beer as I was driving so we stayed for just one set before returning to the hotel several miles away. If we had been staying closer like walking distance i definitely would have stayed for more.

They seem unwilling to put in any effort to sort and even sometimes lift items from the donation area into the store. Much more willing to toss it in the dumpster or just leave it in the back for themselves or others to take. Was told recently while trying to drop off a trunkload of items that they could take only maybe 50 to 60% of what I had, and so I should just take it all to the dump. I know this isn't the norm with them, but from what I hear, all too common. They need to step up their game.

The problem with this store (24th St) seems to have come around when they closed the store downtown. You would think there would be more merchandise but instead there is less. Sometimes it's a matter of available space and sometimes it's how the space is used. Only a very few I've visited can organize space to make it feel more department store than a thrift shop. GIA is a huge store, for what it is, with nearly everything you'd find in a department store. Clothes, of course, and shoes, sorted by size. Children's clothes and toys, Christmas decorations, books, CDs, vinyl, DVDs, kitchen utensils, lamps, appliances, furniture, and miscellaneous. They've done a good job using items donated to delineate the areas and although there's only one separate room it feels like at least three. The prices are reasonable, and from time-to-time GIA will have a sale of sorts where you can fill your cart for a flat price. All the items I saw were in good condition, worn, but not trashy. Gratitude in Action uses the money from the store for their mission of support for recovery and sober living and giving people in recovery a chance to be independent.

I am not certain exactly the problem but what I did notice was the humiliating nature of the shouting in which these ladies were engaged in. One of the females was accusing each the other of having a foul odor. Then I heard the young lady who was being targeted defendnherselfnand it all but broke my soul. Apparently shes is going through cancer treatment and if you have half a brain you'd know that these treatment often cause an individual to sometimes emit a foul odor which is absolutely not their fault and should never be persecuted for such a thing can you imagine going through cancer and having to go through these treatments and having absolutely no way to combat such humiliating side effects and not even your own fellow female colleagues have your back. Shame on you two ladies for treating her that way. The blonde gal was witness to it as well but took satisfaction in being just senselessly nasty to the gal with cancer. I am appalled and embarrassed for everyone involved in this encounter. I hope everyone takes a moment to think of how they could have contributed in more of a positive way to this situation. We're women we're not idiots conduct yourselves accordingly! The way that you show your own self-respect to the rest of the world is by treating the rest of the world with respect.

I was ready to set up my…read morefamily for an entire household membership, but when I got the details from their kids department, I learned that unvaccinated or delayed vaccinated children are not allowed on the premises at all, no exemptions accepted. I spoke with the director lady on this topic to be sure, and she confirmed it. Even with a clergy statement regarding religious beliefs, the Y still won't allow an exemption for your kiddo. It's disappointing, to say the least, and in a post COVID world I think it's crazy to still think that way. And I think the Y doesn't recall that they are supposed to be Christian.... It's right there in the name guys.
