It has a fantastic balance of old and new: - lovely antique furniture, floor coverings, exquisite old light fixtures, etc. - exercise room, high speed internet, business centre, flat screen TV + DVD player in the room. We were blown away by the small touches as the modern stemware in the rooms, updated bathrooms and complementary chocolates on the bed. The bed was a dream to sleep on, once the pillows were cleared and stacked in the corner:-) Nice light cozy comforter on the bed. Now for breakfast - simply fantastic! Cold buffet with solomon gundy, smoked salmon, cheeses, etc.. A bread stack that included fresh from the oven croissants. We went with the a la carte eggs benedict - and don't let them give you the back bacon - go for the smoked salmon option - yummmmmm!!! We will definitely be going back. The question is only whether it will be another mid-winter, off season fantastically priced get-away or a full priced mid-summer Lunenburg folk festival week? Not to be missed!

It has 2 rooms so when we arrived we were the only guests. The main floor has a large sitting area as well as the dinning room and kitchen. The bedrooms are upstairs and Robin lives in an apartment downstairs. Outside he has a beautiful garden with a large pond. The design and decor are very modern and clean. Our room had lots of extra space and all the normal amenities plus some extra stuff like robes and slippers, fresh fruits and snacks and a Tassimo machine. Our bathroom was awesome with a double rain-forest shower. When we arrived we were met at the door by our host Robin and his 2 dogs. They are some of the best trained dogs I have ever met and they, with Robin were amazing hosts. Robin knows almost everything there is to know about Lunenburg and is happy to help in any way. He gave us information on the best places for dinner and even called about reservations for us. I cant say enough about how much we enjoyed having Robin as a host. What put this place up to a 5 for me was the breakfast. With our welcome package Robin gave us menus for breakfast so we could pick what we liked. Amanda and I chose the French Toast Sandwiches (Eggs, bacon and tomato between pieces of french toast). Lisa and Norm selected the English Breakfasts. When we came down in the morning we were not prepared for the quality of breakfast we were about to receive. We began with fruits and yogurt that were super fresh (Mango, Honeydew Mellon, Strawberries, Raspberries and Blueberries) Followed by our selections which turned out to be gourmet quality. For drinks we had fresh orange and apple juices as well as our choice of several different coffees and teas. It all tasted amazing and was more then enough to fill us all up. An internet search brought us to Oceanstone, which seemed like the perfect place to stay as we also wanted to check out Peggy's Cove too. We were lucky enough to secure one night and totally fell in love with the resort, pretty much at first sight. We had put in our booking comments that we were on our honeymoon, hoping we might get a really nice room. We were so pleasantly surprised to walk up to the kitchen in our super cute private cottage and find a lovely bottle of wine along with handmade, outrageously delicious sea salt caramels and a hand written note. To the resort, perhaps a small gesture but to us, it really make our stay that much more special. We really enjoyed our night's stay in our private cottage, which was just set behind the main lodge. The cottage was quaint, clean, and well appointed. We loved our small balcony just outside the living room area, we enjoyed our coffees out there in the morning. The bed was also super comfy too, like a cloud. We loved it there so much we inquired about staying a second night however sadly the resort happened to be fully booked for a wedding party the days immediately following our stay. We ended up eating at the restaurant on their property, Rhubarb, three times in just 2 days - it was so good. We enjoyed an early dinner when we first arrived, then ordered pizza as a "later" night snack then ordered take out the next day for dinner from the next cottage resort we ended up staying at just down the road. We also took a couple of lovely, calm walks along the ocean front during our stay which was so nice. The property is stunning and it feels like you are in another part of the world completely. Looking forward to someday returning again!

The breakfast room was huge with a small pub area, and offered private restaurant style table seating (which is nice for those who aren't morning people and wanting to make new best friends at 8am with a table full of talkative strangers). The big windows let in the light and the view. We were offered the choice of made to order hot breakfasts (french toast, or eggs & bacon) and there was a long table set out with continental offerings that we were able to help ourselves to as well. Gave us amazing recommendations for other local vendors, like kayaking, tours, food, catering, etc. And they were all perfect! Judy and John, her husband, were the most gracious hosts. Basically, anything we needed, they provided without hesitation. Judy and I even planned a surprise event for everyone and it went off without a hitch! Now onto the lodging, my hubby and I stayed in room 305 and it was everything we could ever want! For all of the rooms, which I got to take a gander at because we had rented out the entire place, they were so precious. The website truly does not do the Boscawen Inn justice. Everything is immaculate, clean, and every detail was perfection. Honestly, I can't wait until we get to go back. Thank you Judy and John!!!!
