We are staying in Islamorada, so it took us just about two hours to drive to Key West. If you're not staying in Key West, one must take the driving time into consideration, as traffic can travel pretty slowly sometimes... Our captain was Lanier and Parker was first mate. They both did a great job of taking care of us. Lanier offered really helpful information and was great at answering our questions as he steered us to the reef. Parker was really nice and made us feel welcome with conversation and drinks. Once we got to the reef, the snorkeling was really great! I don't have very good eyesight, so I bought some prescription goggles and I was not disappointed. I saw many different kinds of colorful fish, including some that liked to swim pretty close to me. It was a bit windy, so there were some waves that eventually had me feeling slightly queasy, but I was still able to snorkel for 40 - 50 minutes. Unfortunately, my wife actually did get seasick and Parker was super sweet to aid her and a handful of the other guests who got seasick. Her ice on the neck trick seemed to really help us "land lubbers" :) If you're in Key West and want to see some beautiful fish, I would definitely go with Floridays!

I had to cancel this reservation and now here I am on day 8 still waiting on a refund due of $2300, which they demand up front and in-full. FAKEHARBOR already deducted funds from this charter, yet they don't refund the customer with the same timeliness, even though they were never given permission to take my money. My Council will be going after Your Island Charter for my refund, plus interest and attorney's fees (and other), because I never authorized them to use a third FAKEHARBOR to take funds from my credit card, leaving me to continue paying interests on said funds.

Pretty disappointing experience to pay so much for a private charter captain!…read more We pretty much got skunked trying to snorkel for keeper lobster or fish for keeper yellow tail snapper, grouper (or any other fish). Our captain was short on fishing rods and tackle. In fairness, this was only a 4 hour charter (at $600+tip) and the weather was 3-4 feet but we pay these guys for their knowledge, to put you on fish and navigate/back up plans for choppy seas.

Landon is knowledgeable in a plethora of areas; he is able to connect with his clients, knows the area and is well versed in fishing/snorkeling and relaxing locations! We had an eight hour fishing excursion and every moment was amazing. From the second you step in the boat, Landon is not only your captain, but your friend and guide for the day. He makes a point to get to know you and the group, what your expectations are and he delivers! Of course, boating and fishing excursions are reliant on nature, so if we went out and saw absolutely nothing, that would be no fault of Landon's. However, see things we did! We caught several barracuda and kept one that he filleted for us at the end of the evening that we marinated and grilled. Delicious in fish tacos! We stopped to snorkel and saw a sea turtle, hog fish, lobster and more! Landon does a great job balancing safety and letting you enjoy the experience. We spent some time swimming and floating before continuing on with our fishing excursion. We were able to go further out in the ocean and saw dolphins and sharks and caught several types of fish. The highlight came when we caught (and released) two Goliath grouper! Let me tell you, Landon was prepared and able to help us bring them up for a photo opp before letting them go. His knowledge of the area and boating was superb and I cannot recommend him any higher. Take this as your sign to book an excursion with him!
