The quality of the steak and ribs is up with the best, service is attentive, polite and some what adorable. Downside, don't go too early unless you want to eat with geriatrics and children. The decor is close to a sad unloved Chinese restaurant and an Australiana diner. Not pretty ! Drop the front window vinyls to table level, put your tables of 2 to the front would be a good start. All up it's a good local steakhouse you can rely on.

It was not busy the night we went so we got good service but the steak lost us so we headed to Oliver Brown for a great coffee and dessert. The calamari I had was not but don't let this fool you-it is excellent regardless. The standard Dory is also great. A lot of seafood places have soggy chips, not so here. Other places also encrust the chips with so much salt that you may die. (They do this that if you do die, they can raid your wallet before the cops come-this is my theory.) The chips are quite solid and crisp. A solid feed. Avoid death, eat here!

Everything I've eaten, which I doubt I could recall now, has been delicious - the laksa is spicy and hot, and a favourite - but really, anything they serve up is going to be good. The prices are very reasonable, and you have to check this out if you're in the Hornsby area. Ignore the food court at the Westfield, and get down here.

The ingredients are there (you can see for yourself on the photo), and based on looks it would seem a great meal. However, the soup wasn't hot enough to actually cook any sprouts, nor release the lemon zest. The flavour, though genuine, was also a bit dilute - this leaves me wishing for the richer variants found in Bankstown, or Hurstville. The tea is standard, and the locals seem to enjoy themselves. So it's evidently worth a try.

Phew. Come Christmas, Seafood @ Hornsby is an absolute zoo. They extend their hours to suit, but you're still better off ordering ahead of time and simply collecting your bounty on Christmas Eve. I'm already mentally making my order for another scrumptious seafood Australian Christmas. I explained AGAIN I was just looking and assured her I was not from Woolies. She carried on yapping at me for a while until I finally just left in disgust. The rude attitude, unwillingness to listen, and sheer gross paranoia were just not worth putting up with for a simple puchase of fish. I would suggest focusing on providing a service to the customers and prospects who enter your store rather than alienating them would be a better approach to growing your business. Chasing ghosts and abusing prospects is a losing strategy. I for one will not return ... And anyone I speak to will be advised to go to Windybank or DeCosti where they focus on friendly service and quality product.

Chef's Gallery was across the street from the mall we were shopping at making it convenient. It wasn't busy coming in after the lunch rush. We were waiting for awhile before getting acknowledged. Finally a lady came and asked if someone was helping us. I said "no" and her reply was ok I'll get someone for you. Ended up waiting a little longer before seating at a table a few steps away. Just deal with it I said. Remember this is Australia I said. They don't accept tipping here I said. And service is not a big thing here I said. I said all that. To myself. It helped a little. The restaurant is large with decor from mainland China. Cultural and historical pieces gave an enjoyable ambiance. Chefs can be seen working at their stations in the kitchen through large windows separating the dining area. The station for the hand made noodles drew the most attention especially the pulling. They make it look so easy. It certainly enhances the dining experience. Dishes are meticulously crafted with color and aesthetics to appeal to all senses. The decor, traditions and flavors of China were balanced in harmony. It is a mystical journey worth the journey. I so wanted the noodles but we just needed something a bit lighter to make sure we had room for dinner in only a few hours. The food is served family style. Large portions meant for sharing. Luckily there were small dishes we could order. We decided to share the Hot Sour Soup and Sweet Sour Pork. I would eat most of the soup. One of my faves. The soup was elegant. Fresh green onions came through the thicken broth. Mushrooms had a lite crunch in contrast to the soft egg texture. This was good. And equally good was the pork. Crispy battered outside but tender and juicy on the inside. I wish there was more sauce with this. Dessert buns were brought out complimentary. That was nice. Next time I'd like to try the hand made spinach noodles. The green color drew envy from everywhere. Many tables ordered these noodles. That's a sign of "that good" huh. Maybe pair that with the rock lobster. The noodles are definitely the signature dishes. Dim sum and hot pots are available. Small sharing dishes, main sharing dishes and roti selections include quality ingredients of wagyu beef, lobster, lamb, pork, shrimps and other beefs. The menu is amazing and wonderful to look at. I wanted to try everything wishing i had 3 stomachs to fill. Water was brought to our table in a large cola type bottle. It went down fast. while waiting for the food. I was trying to flag down someone to get more. Couldn't see our waitress. It took awhile but finally got it. Sheesh. Same thing happened with the check. I was flagging anyone who looked my way.
