Calling this place a resort is like calling a gas station hot dog a five-star dining experience. "Crystal Palace" sounds luxurious. What we got felt more like "Questionable Motel Behind the Highway Exit." Which I did expect going into this trip but my goodness, it was worse than I thought! The accommodations were underwhelming, but management somehow managed to be worse. I completely understand policies. What I don't understand is a complete inability to exercise common sense or basic customer service. We had family members actively sick with COVID and asked if we could either modify or cancel our reservation. Not for a refund, just move the reservation. Not for special treatment. Just a little flexibility. Their response? Essentially, "Sounds good. Bring the COVID." Apparently protecting your family, fellow guests, and their staff was less important than enforcing a reservation policy with all the warmth and compassion of a parking ticket. As a result, half of our family went and half stayed home sick. Nothing says "family vacation" quite like splitting up your family because management couldn't be bothered to show an ounce of understanding. The entire experience left such a bad taste in my mouth that I found myself wishing I had been the one stuck at home instead of spending time at this place. Save yourself the headache. Stay literally anywhere else. Sleep in your car. Pitch a tent in a parking lot. Befriend a raccoon and ask if it has a spare room. All would likely provide a more pleasant hospitality experience than Crystal Palace Resort. The only thing "resort" about this place is the amount of regret you'll have after booking it.

They double booked us but luckily we checked in on time. The other people came 30 minutes later. Upon check in the beach house was dirty!!! No one came to clean it. Trash was everywhere and dirty towels on the floor. Jenny or her assistant told me someone in my party canceled. Nope! I was the only person who booked. Then after that I couldn't get a hold of anyone!!! Jenny or Jeanne whatever her name is, is very unprofessional. We had to buy toilet paper and detergent to wash sheets b/c of COVID-19. We don't want to sleep in dirty sheets. She asked me days later how I could make it up to her. I told her a partial refund would suffice. She agreed and has yet to make this wrong a right!!! All I get are EXCUSES!! This poor excuse for a human does not care about customers!!! STAY AWAY!!!!! One of her excuse is that she has too many properties to keep up with.

The Galvestonian is one of the pricier options in Galveston but it was worth it for us and we are so glad we decided against the many air b&b options in the area. The Galvestonian absolutely felt like a hotel with a large lobby, luggage carts and staff was friendly and fast. I personally loved the free coffee in the lobby and complimentary pastries and fruit at breakfast. We had to call maintenance and they arrived quickly and immediately resolved our problem. Because we have two small children, beach access was a must so we didn't have to pack sandy kids back into the car. It was great to walk straight from our condo to the beach. The beach access was amazing!! Complete with outside showers so you can wash off all that sand. The condo also had a beach view which was so relaxing. Our family visited the Galvestonian pool as well which was clean, convenient and kid friendly. I was worried the condo might not be well maintained but everything was in perfect condition. The Galvestonian also rents by unit so we could rent this exact unit in the future if we wanted.

I play craps, and this place doesn't have table games, so I spent my time at the bar playing card games on my phone. This place seems to have plenty of slot machines. It didn't take Dad long to drop his $200, but such is gambling. The other geriatric patients that I overheard in the restaurant seemed to have the same experience. Though this joint is clean, it smells like an ashtray. I wish that casinos would consider that most people don't smoke these days. But, apparently the people who suck down heaters still drop money in their machines. Oh well. Parking here is free. The place is easy to navigate. If not for my dad, however, I wouldn't come here. And I definitely wouldn't stay in their hotel. If they added some table games and sent the smoking clientele to the back 40, my opinion might change.

We came for a wedding and stayed for two nights, and overall, it was a very nice experience. Our room was beautifully decorated with a minimalist touch. The high ceilings made the room feel inviting and spacious, and the large windows with shutters were such a beautiful detail. The Sky Bar could have been a little bigger, but it had a quaint, cozy, and friendly atmosphere. My biggest disappointment, however, was that there is **no pool**. I was counting on having one since I was traveling with my daughter. I honestly don't think I've ever stayed at a hotel without a pool, so that was definitely different for me. And knowing the Galveston waters, I decided we would just stay put, relax, and enjoy some downtime in the room. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely come back--especially with a group of adults. If you're traveling with children, just keep in mind that there's no pool or water feature to entertain them.

We stayed for 4 mornings and each morning they woke us up by being incredibly loud. And i'm not talking just the carts moving or speaking softly , i'm talking about loudly speaking to each other down the hallways, singing and laughing loudly, and loud banging. I've stayed in many hotels and have never had less respectful cleaning crew. I never review places, I made a yelp specifically to warn people about this issue, it seriously impacted our vacation. If you would like to sleep past 8:30 pick a different hotel.

It's a secluded party house essentially, with a pool and access to a beach that's way less busy than anything on Galveston. But, you've gotta deal with some things. The room was clean. It stunk like Pine Sol for hours. So, take it or leave it. You need to bring towels, soap, etc. Think of it as indoor camping. The dude I met was super cool. But after he bailed, the inmates essentially run the asylum. The pool is open all night, people are partying at the beach at all hours, they're not crazy loud, but their presence is omnipresent. The beds on stilts thing sucked going up and down. The door had to be slammed in order to shut, and the light out in front was constantly annoying because it affects the room light. If you want a Wild West style trip, this is your deal. If you want to call someone because you need more blankets, this ain't for you.

Not only were we conveniently close to the cruise port, but we were also able to walk to The Strand and enjoy the local attractions. We picked up our wine for the cruise, treated ourselves to ice cream at La King's Confectionery, and enjoyed some live music. In the morning, we took a short stroll to Starbucks just a block away, enjoying coffee outside in the beautiful morning atmosphere. We then returned to the hotel for breakfast, which was a satisfying continental spread. They had bagels, muffins, cream cheeses, cereals, fresh fruit salad, and even some Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches you could heat up. It was a nice, plentiful breakfast with something for everyone. A special shoutout to Dee at the front desk who made our check-in smooth and welcoming. Watching the cruise ships sail in from our room was such a unique experience, and the overall comfort of the huge king bed and the spacious room really made our stay special. Peeling paint in the bathtub/shower. Broken light fixtures. The floor was covered with sand and had obviously not been swept or mopped. You are better off sleeping in a tent on the beach. Since we were on a beach weekend getaway, we did not avail ourselves of the pool but it was sparkling clean. The wonderful family that owns the location is warm, friendly, and attentive.
