Do not come here; the photos shown on their website are nothing like the dilapidated piece of crap it is today. Never came across a trash can our entire stay, later discovering they were all sitting by the dumpster at the end of the parking lot, which could explain all the garbage lying around. The volleyball pit was in a decayed state with not even a net to play with. The golf course didn't feature any proper golf equipment, just wooden sticks and no golf balls to be found. "Life size pool" is an alright idea I guess, except all the balls were flat and some had gaping holes in them. Weeds and grass are taking over the place, it seems like it hasn't been mowed or sprayed in months, or even years. The guy at the front was barely able to give our rooms to us as he was a couple beers deep and we observed him wandering around drinking and smoking throughout our stay. And this was the only visible employee I saw the entire time we were there. No wonder the resort is such a ramshackle. I didn't take any picture of the room because I thought it was alright. The Yelp description says they provide pans, but we didn't find anything like that in the kitchen. There's a fridge, microwave, sink, a tiny little coffee maker, and a little bit of soap. There were no cups, utensils, plates, or anything. You have to bring everything yourself, it's like camping. The bathroom had no towels or soap in it. To my surprise, though, they had toilet paper at least. The pool and water pad are pretty good, but since it's in the shade it was pretty cold. There is a little playground thing for kids which was really fun, but the rest of the place pretty much ruins everything. To bring all this to a conclusion, this place is ridiculously overpriced for what you get. How do I explain the Boardwalk? Does it suck? No. Would I do if again? No. So, the premise works. It's a secluded party house essentially, with a pool and access to a beach that's way less busy than anything on Galveston. But, you've gotta deal with some things. The room was clean. It stunk like Pine Sol for hours. So, take it or leave it. You need to bring towels, soap, etc. Think of it as indoor camping. The dude I met was super cool. But after he bailed, the inmates essentially run the asylum. The pool is open all night, people are partying at the beach at all hours, they're not crazy loud, but their presence is omnipresent. The beds on stilts thing sucked going up and down. The door had to be slammed in order to shut, and the light out in front was constantly annoying because it affects the room light. If you want a Wild West style trip, this is your deal. If you want to call someone because you need more blankets, this ain't for you. read more

We came for the amenities, hammocks, kayaks, hot tubs etc. Hot tubs closed due to COVID, ok sucks but we will still have the rest. But no, Kayaks gone now, beach chairs gone. Hmm. This place is a scam!!! The guy, Johnny Hamm who is supposed to be on the on-site customer relations is a local drunk that everyone seems to know is a scam artists. Telling those that reserved the unit they never paid the day of arrival and stating that a cash payment must be made to acquire the unit. When questioning him via text bc he won't answer the phone, he finally calls and uses vulgar language to intimidate. When telling him I knew he was by name he proceeded to call me a vulgar name and hang up because he realizes I'm not playing his game!! We stopped by prior because we arrived early and the pictures do not portray the reality of the run down place it is on the exterior. Boardwalk resort (if you can call it that) is the most unflattering rental I have done myself the disservice of attending. There is not a single aspect of this place that is up to standard. We were staying here during COVID-19, hoping the place may be kept cleaner , but it was absolutely filthy. Do not stay here this place will rip you off.. I booked through Travelocity. I canceled my reservations on the 16th day of January. My reservations were for February 17-18 . on the 17th of January they took the entire amount out of my account. John is the so called manager, who has given me the run around for weeks, saying they had issued a refund and it was my banks fault. HE REFUSED to give the the name of the management company or the owners or his boss. Now they are saying they are not going to give me a refund. I wish I has read the reviews before I booked it. If I could 0 stars I would. We had a room reserved about a month in advanced for Fourth of July weekend. Less than 48 hours before our arrival, they sent us a text to let us know that we will not be able to stay there due to a ceiling falling through. I asked for it to be fixed or for them to place me in another room and they said no due to no other rooms being available at the time of booking (which is not true). I had family flying from out of state and was looking forward to this. I should have seen the red flags of all the bad reviews and also the fact that their listing was removed off of Airbnb due to all the horrible reviews on their preventing them from getting business. Never again. This family owned business has poor business manners, with no staff on site for maintenance, it's no wonder they have such structural issues. Horrible customer service was hung up on by Johnny the manager after being told we were not going to receive a deposit due to the room smelling like smoke. We did not smoke in the room we smoked on the beach that night and also in the parking lot of the building that morning which I'm sure can all be supported on camera. We were told we could not speak to anyone about the matter but Johnny. The deposit is fine but Johnny being rude and hanging up on me after I called for clarification on the situation is unprofessional. My cousin and I discovered Boardwalk while trying to find and book a house on Bolivar for us and our 5 teens for Spring Break. Boardwalk was perfect for us and our kids! The property is brand new, and there are several things that aren't completed, but we understood that and made it work! I was happy to be one of the first to stay at this property, and cannot wait to see how well they do. The property was clean (a bit of construction dust, but that is expected due to work on-going), the room was a little tight with 5 teens but would have been perfect with smaller kids. My only suggestions for future guests are: bring your own trash bags. We struggled to figure out the trash situation and that should be added to the instructions by the owners. I would also suggest you bring a folding chair if you have more than 3 people staying in your condo, as there is only a couch and nothing else to sit on. Also, It would have been really great if there had been access to washer/dryer amenities like most condo's and homes have. But, we managed to go buy more towels and make do. The pool, hot tubs, kayaks, mini-golf, beach access, etc were are in perfect working order and we loved it! We will be back. Thank you Boardwalk for a fun getaway! read more

Me and my girlfriend booked this place on a Monday and Tuesday night. The place is alright, close to the beach, but customer care was absolutely terrible. Tuesday night, our keypad to the door stopped working at 1130 at night and we were locked out for hours trying to get ahold of josh, the concierge, never got a single answer. I tried calling Tuesday at noon about an unrelated incident, never got a reply all day...and then this night time issue never had an answer as well after calling at least 15 times. We were lucky enough to find a couple working on the palm trees of the property, he went by the name of cowboy with Palm Stars and offered to help me find a way back in my room. This man scaled up to the second floor with his ladder to get to my balcony and come in through the balcony door and unlock the room for us. Truly something I never thought I would experience. We took care of him and his wife, paid them $100 for being so helpful considering that's not even their job. So, $700 in the hole for 2 nights at a subpar room and no reply from anybody associated with the company or properties. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! Chances are you can find a cheaper, better managed property with nicer rooms too. read more

The photos are deceptive of this place. You are going to have the experience of a warehouse with rooms built in and a bathroom built in the middle which you crawl on the top of for the "master bedroom" which is a mattress on a floor. The rest of it is cubbies and nooks with a cheap mattress shoved inside like sleeping in a casket. The windows have no covering so everyone out by the beach can see in your room with zero privacy. We rented this room for a local fishing event and a storm came through and the island lost power. They refused to refund our money even though it was no fault of ours they had to close. We only needed the place for that specific date, but we were told by Expedia we had to reschedule. We tried to do this for a month before we could even get anyone to answer their phone. No one stays at the site and it's more of a turnkey outfit. This place is shamelessly bad. The rooms are unbearable and claustrophobic and cheap. We paid for two nights and left at dawn after the first miserable night and ate the second night. These people are crooks and the place is more like a hostel. read more

2 Bedroom paid $500 for 2 nights and they don't provide towels, they don't make your bed. The first night you get here you have to make it your self and then take all your bedding off when you leave. One side bed had a narrow ladder with nothing to hold onto to pull yourself up. Definitely not kid friendly at all. Extremely tiny room. No elevator, you have to carry all your luggage up the stairs. I would recommend this to college students who like to pile up in bunk beds and all pitch in to share the cost. It is not for young kids or older adults. We are currently staying in Galveston tonight if that tells you anything. The narrow stairs and ladders are not safe for family vacations because there were no rails. Our ladders and stairs were an accident waiting to happen. The stacking bed cubicles gave us claustrophobia and we could barely get in or out. My bed loft had someone's snot rags between the wall beside the mattress. The locks on the doors did not work right and the room was not clean. The floors were filthy. Our feet stayed black. It also would have been nice to have bathroom rugs. To top it off, smoke alarms went off all night because of a power outage for two days. We had to push reset buttons with a broom every 8 minutes in the dark until the concierge was able to disconnect them. If we had had WiFi it would've been nice. No elevator, no towels, no soap, and no blinds on the windows.The hot tubs did not look clean. You are expected to make your own beds when you arrive and the plastic fitted mattress covers pop off. It would have helped tremendously if the beds were already made when you walk in. The beds are difficult to make because they are in little cubbies or lofts. But we had 3 TV's, and that was helpful. The beach area in front of the Boardwalk was very clean and safe for everything. We loved that part. Several hammocks overlook the water and the hot tubs. That was a relaxing place for morning coffee. They also had plenty of beach chairs and even kayaks. The kids enjoyed the splash pad, miniature golf, and a game of soccer on a huge pool table. The pool was nice, but so crowded and was not clean. Mosquitos were bad at night and when the wind dies down. Don't forget your repellent. There is not a front desk, and the people who live on the premises have their hands full. They were very nice but probably over helmed especially during the power outage. It is very over priced for what we got. I upgraded and got a room that slept 11 and there were only 6 of us. My bill was over $900 for two nights and we felt cramped. If I could give less than one star I would. This place is a SCAM!!!! Hints the no refund after you pay in advance. We booked a month in advance for a wedding. We arrived and the place is super dirty and unsanitary. Health Department should take a look at that. We called the emergency number to check in but it wasn't working. So we found another number for another business that appeared to be associated. We were told we would recieve a room number and code via text. That never happened. We eneded up staying somewhere else and our booking company is issuing a refund (travel insurance people!!). Our booking company has since then removed them from their page (my guess is we weren't the only ones). Another wedding guest (who booked through a booking company months in advanced) was told by the property that her card was declined and she would now have to pay cash. After she proved that she had in fact paid she was cussed out and hung up on. She reported them to the police but was told she had to go through small claims. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY!! This place was not was as expected by looking at the reviews. It had a horrible smell of fresh paint. The beds were similar to what a college dorm room provides. The room itself had dead bugs and there were stains in various places. There is also no bolt lock on the door which made me uncomfortable. I was highly disappointed, and I would not recommend to anyone. When we texted to discuss with the management the issues and that we may not stay with these conditions, they basically told us to just leave. If I could leave no stars or a half star I would! This is my review of The Boardwalk on Crystal Beach from May 17, 2019. Someone put the code in my door Saturday morning about 4:30am and opened the door to my room! Let's just say it's a good thing they didn't walk in! I was there alone, due to scheduling conflicts and I was armed. And they have NO interior door locks! They removed them when they were breaking the doors and never replaced them! Managememt told me the code on the doors were randomly assigned but that can't be true if two doors on the same floor had the same formula, ie room 215, code is 2115#. I know room 212 had the same formula I overheard them talking about it! That's not random! I have a feeling it was a drunk guest trying to get back to their room, and I place the blame solely with the management of BOARDWALK! If they had truly random codes and interior locks I would have felt safe and no one would have been able to unlock my door much less fully open it! On top of all of that -the beds are not made! You have to make them yourself! For the price they charge for the rooms that is ridiculous! Plus there are no curtains on the balcony doors so I hope you enjoy ambient light from the parking lot flooding your room at night because your room will be nowhere near dark.o read more

My wife and I traveled 260 miles for an anniversary weekend on the coast. We do not just up and leave for some small inconvenience. Corey Morehead (owner) and Josh (manager) were not on site. They were 165 miles away in Lufkin, TX. He has no clue the condition of the room or what occurred that afternoon. Problems we saw: immediately upon entering, we noticed a spider on the floor and a spider on the inside of the balcony door. Tried to open the balcony door to get the spiders out --- couldn't open it --- bolt was unlocked - top of the door moved but bottom was seriously stuck. The place was unsanitary! Dirt and trash in the dustpan --- dirty footprints by the beds --- beds not made (website has pictures of made beds- False Advertising) linen (not stacked) haphazardly thrown on the bed (What lodging establishment in the world does not make the bed for its guests?) --- family dog on our floor (website strictly states NO PETS). The toilet paper roll had about an eight of a roll left - can't even put out a new roll for your guests? Morehead's problem is a business one - he does not know how to run it. He is dependent upon those he hires. We never saw a manager in the 30-40 minutes while we were onsite. A maintenance man appeared 15 minutes after I began to complain to Josh. If I am an owner and guest service is primary, I have an onsite manager to that person within 5 minutes. We saw only the maintenance man who was unsure of which room to go to --- he went to 2 rooms before ours (I waited in the hall). We left because while waiting for some representative, I called my credit card to file a dispute to get a refund. They said we could not stay on the property if we wanted a refund. When it comes down to it: Morehead and his group did not professionally prepare our room for us and no professional representative was there to address our concerns --- I had to text and talk to a person 165 miles away! UNPROFESSIONAL!!! How would Morehead know the condition of my room - he wasn't there - and he is depending on the word of people who did not do their job. Why would he offer to knock off the $50 cleaning fee if they claim the room is clean? I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the State Attorney General. In his response to my complaint, Morehead focuses on toiletries and that "I didn't like the room" and basically calls me a liar. My wife and I had no problem with the room itself other than it was not clean and unsanitary. When you shell out $446 dollars, the LEAST one can EXPECT is a clean room - don't you agree? STAY AWAY!!!! You can find properties with owners onsite who care about their patronage. This guy DOES NOT CARE!!! read more

We were disappointed with the accommodations as website and Expedia did not mention that all beds are loft beds. Your pictures greatly enhanced the actual property. It was a costly one night at 600.00 as we did not stay the second night of our reservation as mattresses were like sleeping on a pallet on the floor.
