This is an older beach vacation condominium that boasts three pools, condos of various sizes, a gym, a pet area and is Seawall beach adjacent. The 500sq condo we stayed in for our family vacation was on the second floor and had a patio that overlooked one of the pools. You could see the beach somewhat and a little retention pond which was nice in the morning and evening. It was tiny but convenient and boasted a full service kitchen, king sized bed, generously sized bathroom, two bunk beds and a pull out couch. Theoretically it could sleep six people, but we were a little tight with two kids, two adults and a dog. It is conveniently located to the Seawall and other drive up beaches, and restaurants/other amenities are not too much farther down the road, though you are away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy areas - which was what we wanted. It did not break the bank as far as Air BNBs go. BUT... The property is older and not as well kept as you would think, for $700/month HOAs fees (we looked it up online). They have strict parking enforcement and it costs $10/day during your stay, which we found to be a little ridiculous since the parking is nothing special and not any more secure than a Walmart parking lot. There are elevators but they are not conveniently located to the outer units, so lugging our bags and supplies up and down two flights of stairs in the humidity was a bit tiresome. The pools are maintained if not exactly nice, but well chlorinated. Unfortunately we didn't want to get in them due to the fact they are heated (or maybe just hot from the sun) and it didn't feel refreshing in the Texas heat- it felt more like bath water. All in all, it was perfectly fine. The amenities left a little bit to be desired but the unit was clean and quiet, and close to the beach. It met our needs and we enjoyed our stay. read more

Alright, so we rented a condo here for the weekend. The people we rented from, they were amazing hosts. However, let me tell you about our initial impression of things. When we got there, the office to check in was closed. You have to pay for parking, and also receive your pool band, while staying there. We waited outside the office until the office staff arrived. Upon their return, a bald man with shorts and various tattoos opened the office door. He had a bag on his hand, which we joked was a 6-pack..just to be clear...no beer was seen. My husband went in behind the guy, and found another girl sitting within the office. She had apparently been sitting there the entire time. Checkin was easy, and we went ahead to our room. The elevator was incredibly sketch, but it was functional. Parking was not an issue, as we were able to easily find a place. The pool was really nice with plenty of seating. I think we would definitely consider staying here again. We really enjoyed being so far down the seawall, it is far less busy! read more

These condos are individually owned and many are rented out (we booked ours through VRBO), so this review really is just a commentary on the complex as a whole. Our individual unit (311) was renovated and very nice and clean, but the quality of the individual units depends on the individual owners. The entire front of the building is being remodeled, so there is some construction noise and the fitness room is currently closed. It definitely needs it, though, so it's good to see them making repairs. The exterior of the condo is outdated, rusted, has uneven surfaces, etc. If you can get past the cosmetic issues, it's not that bad. The location is great. We did not want to be in the middle of the busy, crowded, touristy part of the seawall, and this condo was perfect. It was just close enough--about a ten minute drive to the Pleasure Pier and a 20 minute drive to The Strand. Within walking distance are a fishing pier with a gift shop and restaurant, a great little shaved ice truck, mini golf, batting cages, a movie theatre, and go-karts. There is plenty to do within a mile walk. The beach immediately across the street from the condo has large cut rocks placed there for erosion control, so at high tide there isn't much of a beach, and there also isn't a crosswalk nearby to access the beach quickly or safely. However, Pocket Park #2 is a short (about 5 min) drive from the condo and it's an awesome beach to hang out for the day. The pool area was nice and the water was refreshing--the hot Texas sun warms it up a bit, but I prefer my pool water to be more like bath water than ice water! There were plastic lounge chairs in the sun as well as bar stools in the shade under a large thatch-roof gazebo. There was an "island" in the middle for the littles to jump off of into the water, and the pool is large enough that it never felt crowded. Overall, the individual condo you rent will make the biggest difference here, but the complex itself is a decent value for what you get. read more

One small pool is open, under construction with nothing telling us that. $10.00 per day parking $2.00 for wash and $2.00 for dry, no iron, dirty, no grills available (all locked up). 224 Terrible. We booked 3 nights here NEVER AGAIN. Left a pizza on our kitchen island and a roaches came crawling out of it looked at my microwave and there's roaches hiding under it and in it. We looked around the room and there's baby roaches coming in from underneath our condo door!! This room has many issues. Out screen door is broken,They have holes all over the walls and in the ceilings, our couch had dirty all over it, the room smelt musty. They have microwaves in the room we can't use the one above the stove but they brought us the one filled with roaches. I will never stay here again. read more

Overall the place is nice. Great location about 5 mi from pleasure pier and within walking distance to the beach. Biking distance to stores. The pools are awesome and well maintained. There is a dog park around back. Down sides is the elevator doesn't work or is being repaired most of the time so getting two dogs out for breaks down three flights of stairs was a challenge. Mosquitoes were heavy and hungry..they sprayed the complex toward the end of our week long stay. We stayed in 338 great view from the patio. Kinda limited on storage space. Booked #310 on Air B&B through "host" Christina Strommen. This so called "host" is literally the worst person I have ever dealt with. She is abusive, bullying, combative, threatening, rude and hateful. She is the definition of an "ANTI-HOSTESS." After literally begging for check in documents (which I never received, yet I received all of her other condescending and insulting emails), I left for my vacation not knowing whether I would even be able to enter the confo I had paid for). She FINALLY sent the check in documents 6 hours before check in. When we arrived at the condo, the refrigerator door wouldn't close completely, and showed a temperature of 51 degrees, rendering it useless. Additionally, the toilet ran virtually continuously, shutting on and off every 30 seconds or so. I contacted her and she said she would send someone at 10 the next morning. I called Air B&B the next morning to request some sort of credit, since we had lost about $25 in food that we had brought. Next thing I knew, Christina Strommen was screaming at me over the phone, threatening to "ruin" my reputation with Air B&B. At that point I lost it. I had taken all the abuse I was going to take from this human garbage. I hung up on her (which I have never done to anyone in my 50+ years). Shortly thereafter, I received a call from Air B&B who told me that she was very abusive toward their staff, that they were refunding my entire payment (not just the $25 I had requested), and that we (my elderly mother and I) should leave immediately. One last bit of information: when we took our trash to the dumpster, it was literally overflowing with bags spilling onto the ground. It was disgusting. This was one of the most bizarre encounters I have had. Stay away from this place, and if you do decide to stay here, DO NOT book with Christina Strommen, but go through the complex directly. Please also note that she is a realtor in Galveston. I cannot imagine working with this person in any capacity, let alone in a real estate capacity. read more

I fell in love with this place! My boyfriend and I absolutely loved the accommodations. Even though it was only 2 of us, our condo could sleep up to 10. The decor was beautiful, and the condo smelled so clean and fresh. We loved the patios and sat out there the 2 nights we had it drinking wine and enjoying listening to the ocean. Plenty of parking space and close to a few great restaurants. We walked right across the street to the ocean and really enjoyed the view. If you want a relaxing weekend with lovely accommodations, I would check this place out. Be sure to research the realtors for the condos first. While ours was great (Christina something... sorry, my boyfriend booked the place so I don't know her last name), I read some nightmarish reviews on other people. The linen in both queen beds had hair(not changed in who knows when), a nasty stain on the bed spread they tried to hide with throw pillows. The floors were so dirty you had to wear shoes. I'm saddened to see that some people have poor reviews based on certain owners. These are owned by individuals and often managed by management companies. I appreciate that i pay 100$ for cleaning and starter supplies AND an accidental damage policy vs 70-80$ no supplies and a 300$ deposit you pray you get back. It's just a non stressor. These are great condos on the West End of the island. They are all privately owned and most are rentals. The grounds has three pools, one being the largest pool in Galveston and a hot tub. It has beautiful views of the ocean on either side. Staying in a condo, the experience will be different as each condo is decorated and up kept by the individual owners. Some will be nicer than others and the amenities will be different as well. Give it a try. You'll definitely want to come back. read more

Unit #351 through VRBO/TurnKey Unfortunately, this vacation rental did not live up to its expectations. Immediately upon our arrival, we noticed caution tape and construction workers all over. The construction took place everyday during the week between 7am and 4/5pm. Aside from the normal construction jack hammering, drilling and dust, we were also graced with the lovely site of construction workers having their daily picnic right outside of the side pool. None of this was told to me prior to my arrival. There was a huge dumpster right out back of our condo which contained all of their construction equipment. There was also a lovely porta potty next to that for our viewing pleasure. When we arrived at our room, the first appearance was just as the photos. Aside from now not being able to use the balcony, which was the MAIN reason we selected this room and the 3D glasses not working, everything looked good. As the days went on we noticed several issues. The vents were completely covered in dust. They looked as though they had never been cleaned. My one son has severe allergies, so I spent the first part of my vacation cleaning. We will now move onto the bathrooms, both have mold in and on the shower walls, floors and doors. Another allergy concern. The bedrooms were good, minus the vents. The washer is filled with mold as well. How am I supposed to clean clothes if the machine isn't even clean? The last piece of the disgust was in the kitchen. Two nights in a row we noticed bugs. We could not figure out where they were coming from. In between the stove and the sink, there is a slim board. This board is removable (not sure if it's supposed to be). Well low and behold, there was the motherload! Completely disgusted!! Why did I have to pay a cleaning fee? The room clearly has not been cleaned well for a very long time. The front/desk receptionist is of no help. They will not do anything for you since each condo is privately owned. So why are they there? It must me to collect the $20 parking fee. Just to come back and not be able to park in the lot. Due to the construction and all the other vehicles without the pass. We should have just saved our $20. They also closed every evening at 6pm. So, if you wanted to play cornhole/bags or utilize the information center, you couldn't. I notified them twice of families coming from outside of the resort, hosting parties and taking over the entire outdoor area. At one point there were 12 people in the hot tub. It was a huge drunk fest. The Next two mornings maintenance had to walk around and clean up after them. They also took and hid one of the cornhole/bags boxes. They also wanted to charge us to use the gazebo? What?? How ridiculous! They sat empty the entire week we were there. The side pool was closed for 2 days. No notification, they just slapped a chain on the gates. Then upon it being reopened, the filter was not working. The pool was cluttered with debris from the construction as well as the tree branches and leaves. The area by the hot tub was falling apart. There were paint chips from the deck all over the place and in the hot tub. The waterfall, or at least I think that's what it is, looks like it had not been used in years. It has become a collection ground for debris and garbage. I do have pictures of all the claims I am making. If you need them, I will have no problem submitting them. I also was thinking of contacting the Texas building inspectors. If you make a claim that a balcony is not structurally safe, that would also mean that the building is not structurally safe. I would hope that Turnkey, the owners and VRBO would make good on this ridiculous excuse for a rental property! read more

We stayed here a few years prior to renting Condo 122 on this property. The owner was very responsive and when we needed something, she replied right away. and the condo was cute and clean. The patio needed some work. There was some pieces of carpet bunched together and the outside furniture was in disarray. Our main problem is the "parking fee". My wife went go down on Monday and I had to work, so I couldn't go down on Tuesday. You would think that the owner would have one spot because they "own" a condo and then if you needed a second spot you would pay a nominal fee for it, but no...they charge for both spots. He started with $30.00, but since we had 2 vehicles went down to $20.00 per spot. This seems outrageous to me being you are renting there. The front receptionist desk closes at 6:00PM, so if you come later, you can't even get the parking pass they are charging so heavily for. You worry all night long that some tow company is going to take your vehicle. Then the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night for about an hour or so and periodically through the day. I took my sister and my kids plus my little cousin (6 ppl) on a quick spring break get away. This place was great. I wish we could've stayed longer. It had 2 full size king beds plus a bunk bed and a couch that 2 ppl could sleep on; 2 full bathroom and an updated kitchen. And the view was awesome. Very very clean. We will definitely be coming back. The only complaint is the elevator closest to the room wasn't working but I was made aware of this prior to booking. When you drive up the place looks like a dump, but unit 231 is gorgeous, a one bedroom two bunkbeds and a pull out sofa bed, have completely been redone and updated, very nicely decorated. The place has a Huge pool and a large balcony. I don't know about the other units but if you book, book unit 231. The management is not very good they gave us the wrong code for entry into the condo, but we had to call at 11 o'clock on a Friday night to get the correct code, Took about 15 minutes before someone called us back. But they also gave us the code for the pool but failed to tell you that you need to put a C in front of it, just very bizarre the lack of communication by management? The only reason I am giving this accommodation a 1 star is because I am forced to and to be honest, Maravilla Condominiums does not even deserve half a star. Where do I begin?! As we first arrived and started dragging our luggage to the unit, we noticed the deteriorated condition of the elevator. Despite that, I attempted to keep an open mind and thought to myself that perhaps the unit was much better. However, as we walked in, to my dismay, I was WRONG!!! The unit was abysmal. There were crumbs scattered all over the floor, rust on all the bathroom fixtures, the bathtub had a bath mat with mildew, the return air vent was filthy with dust, the bed sheets had clumps of hair contained within them and the beds had bedbugs that made us itch the entire night. To sum it all up, this complex is in dire need of a total makeover. We will not be returning. read more

These condos are all individually owned, so our experience could be totally different from the people in the condo next door. We were in unit 223. Overall, you can't beat the price and the condo met all our needs. However, we had several maintenance concerns. The shower had hair in it and the floors had not been cleaned. There were broken drawers and the toilets were wobbly and they had placed pennies under it trying to balance it out. The pool area was awesome though! Great place to hang out and it's gorgeous. Where is the 1/2 star rating? As a time share OWNER at Maravilla for more than 30 years I see a very unsettling issue of security for access to my condo. Upon entering the condo I was given an envelope with pool keys and wrist bands and written on envelope was the access door code. There are 2 time share units at Maravilla and inside the room was the key code for the other unit as well as mine just laying there on TV stand. Sure enough it opens my unit and the other unit as well. Where is the security, I ask management? Her outrage sparked my interest to attend the next owners meeting and see why the pass codes are not handled in a much more secure manner. After taking her verbal abuse over the phone and in person, the office assistant did finally come and change the pass code. I just pity the other unsuspecting guest here. BE AWARE. I ask about insurance coverage and she said she will check into it, not being able to or not wanting to give me an answer about loss protection at their neglect to make the rooms are secure for owners and guest. A sign should be displayed ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. I am writing this in hopes as an owner here at Maravilla management which is elected, will take more interest in security and management of the office. read more

1 star, because Yelp won't allow me to give less. BED BUG INFESTATION! Booked this through Travelocity (we'll never use them again after this) for our wedding in Galveston. Arrived at the AB Sea Sales & Rentals office to pick up the keys and was charged a never before mentioned $25 damage fee, as well as a $15 parking fee (even though Travelocity stated parking was free). Ok, no big deal. I guess they need that $40 more than I do. Initially the condo looked nice enough. The elevators were a little raggedy, and the luggage carts all had "Wal Mart Wheels" and didn't roll smoothly. No big deal. Then the nightmare begins. My fiance and I wake up the next day to red bumps on our bodies. We assumed it must be a rash from the heat, or the stress from the upcoming wedding. However, as the week goes on, it only gets worse. The red bumps are now on our bodies as well as faces. Luckily my fiance was able to hide the bumps with her makeup for the wedding photos on Saturday. I was not so lucky. Nice big red bumps on my forehead for the wedding photos. Thanks AB Sea Rentals! It was only 1 day before we were scheduled to check out that we learned what bed bugs were. So we purchased poison, sprayed all of our belongings, washed everything 3 times, checked out and went to Comfort Inn (which was much nicer, btw). Hopefully we didn't bring any home with us. I was told the manager would be calling me to discuss the situation... That was last Monday. Still no call. They obviously don't care about customer satisfaction. Avoid this place. I booked unit number 152 through VRBO for two weeks. It was EXACTLY as expected. The unit was clean, everything worked, and the decor was perfection. This unit has WiFi, two cable TVs, a king sized bed in the master bedroom, a sleeper sofa in the living room and twin sized bunk beds in a nook by the entrance. The closet in the master is spacious and kept my huge suitcases out of the way. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed to enjoy a vacation--including a blender and corkscrew...essential The bathroom was a good size, but the counter top was a little small. Sharing the bathroom sink/mirror on a girls weekend would have been a little difficult. The garden tub, on the other hand, was big enough for two. The balcony off the living room has two rocking chairs and beautiful views of one of the pools, the boulevard and the gulf. There are coin operated washers and dryers available on the property and I never had to wait to use them or encountered any problems. This would be a great unit for a couples getaway, a smaller family or a girls' vacation. I definitely recommend checking out this unit for your next Galveston vacation! read more

We arrived at Maravilla Condos 1 hr after the office closed and we sat in the parking lot for several hrs calling the number repededly on the door for late check in. No one ever answered or called back. We had to finally check in to another hotel. When we went to the office the next day to check in the Staff Lied to all of us saying that they tried to call us and refused to give us a Refund. We rented unit 204 thru Airbnb and managed by Turnkey. We were appalled at the dirt in this unit and the unkempt condition in general particularly since we were charged a $180.00 cleaning fee. If the owner knew how poorly Turnkey is managing their unit they'd fire them. The AC filter cover was rusted, the floors were so filthy you couldn't go without shoes. Unit 204 is beach front and traffic from Seawall Blvd. was loud and nonstop until after midnight so you couldn't enjoy the patio which was filthy as well. We had to clean everything before using it. The furniture hasn't been updated in years. The linens on the bed had hairs from the previous guest! The elevator closest to the unit has been out of service for over six months according to the front office so you had to walk the entire length of the building to get to the only working elevator. The working elevator has no inspection certificate so use at your own risk. Parking was a chore since most single spaces were marked off limits with caution tape due to repairs that were needed to the ceilings in the parking garage. I understand each unit is owned individually so this review is specific to unit 204. Be sure to read all reviews before booking a stay at Maravilla Condos. Sad state of affairs indeed. read more

My wife and son and I stayed at a condo at this resort and we really enjoyed ourselves. We were there over Christmas and were located by the heated pool and we had a great time. The units are small but very classy. They allow small pets for a minimal fee and we really appreciated that because we have a couple small Maltese dogs and we hate having to leave them behind. I would recommend this place to anyone or any family that is considering making a trip to Galveston and want a classy, affordable place to stay, I highly recommend it and look forward to going back myself. read more

What a scam. We are in the Travel business and were considering Buying a Condo at Maravilla. We would never stay here again or recommend Maravilla Condos to any of Our Clients, Family or Friends. We booked this place for a family reunion a couple months before we arrived. When we arrived at Maravilla to check inn no one was in the office and the door was locked so we called the number on the sign in the office window 9 times with 3 different phones over the next 3hrs. No one ever answered or returned our messages so we had to find another resort to stay at. The next day we went back and found someone at the office who was very rude and lied to us and said they supposedly answer the phone 24/7 and never received any of our 9 calls the previous day. We even showed them our call log from all 3 phones. They Refused to Refund our Money. read more

I was in Galveston for four days and nights. I stayed in a 1 BR 1Bath with my girlfriend. The first thing I noticed was the condo was spotless. We had everything we could ever need. Sheets, towels, pots, pans, glassware, television and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. We stayed in unit 351 and the room was clean, updated and fully equipped. Plenty of space for a family of 5 and small dog. Owner of the unit was a pleasure to deal with and responsive to our needs. Pool and surrounding areas are constantly being cleaned and upkeep by the grounds staff. A+ onsite office staff. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star is because of the security officer. I understand the need to monitor the grounds but this guy took it to a whole "Show me your papers" level. My family and I were sitting in the hot tub area and this guy comes by asking each one of us to hold up our arms so he can check our bands. All of our arm bands were clearly visible and I found holding up our arms extremely intrusive and rude. If this had been a one time occurrence I would not be mentioning this in the review but unfortunately it was not. We were there for four days and this happened every single day. My wife finally had enough and reminded the gentleman that he had already checked our bands and asked for him to please stop bothering us. The pool area was not crowed, we had the place to ourselves for the majority of the time. There is absolutely zero chance he didn't recognize us from the previous times he checked our bands. So if you want to be treated like spring break pool crashers even thou its not spring break and you paid $1,200 for the stay, this is the place for you. read more

We were lucky to have a well-maintained unit that had been totally updated. But, the condos complex as a whole leaves much to be desired. I was with a large group, and everyone else's unit was hit or miss. Some units were outdated, others were found dirty at check in. Overall, they were all small. The unit is across from the beach, so there is a lot of wear on the building that comes with...rusting metal on anything outdoors, bugs, etc. But, the elevators are hot, small, and do not work most of time. One of the three was out of order for the entire week we were there. The luggage carts are readily available, but drive like they have flat tires. Also, the dumpster seemed constantly overflowing. One morning, there was trash blowing around the parking lot too...lots of it! The pool looks much better in the pictures. We found that often dirty and needed a good chlorine shock. There were days that foam was floating on top...not sure where it came from, but grossed us out. My husband even spent one afternoon cleaning out the drains because they were so clogged with debris and junk. Not really how we wanted to spend vacation! But, for the price, it was good. Absolutely disgusting. I booked this on VRBO about a month ago and was really excited to get out of Austin and see the coast. The posted pics made this place look like fun family friendly condos with nice accommodations. Boy oh boy were those pictures a flat out lie!! The condos are undergoing a massive restoration so there has been construction going on the ENTIRE time we've been here. I wish the owners would have told me so i had the option to cancel (not very nice and forthcoming of them). The condo itself smells moldy and has zero hot water. We've seen condo residents doing questionable (read illegal) activities while here, we have construction workers leering at us, we have to make sure all valuables are out of sight and securely locked... Honestly, I can go on and on. I don't feel safe here at all! I am trying to make the best of it for my kiddos but I am furious that my weekend getaway has been ruined. It's too late to book anything else so we are stuck. For the money I paid we could be in a much nicer place. My only recourse is to warn others to stay far away from this place. read more

My family has stayed at this complex several times in the last few years. The grounds are very well kept & the pool areas are always nice & clean. This complex has definitely undergone a lot of changes (all good I might add) in recent years. The units are individually owned & we've done vrbo or rented through MygalvestonGetaway.Com. Unit 321 Stayed there for a Friday through Monday morning recently. Overall nice but there are some things that need attention. Pools and pool areas were great. Clean and well maintained. Items in Kitchen were great; plates, pots, pans, utensils, etc. Lots of towells and linens etc. Good WiFi Toilet need some attention and should have a door or curtain between the toilet and the shower/tub area. In the unit itself the A/C filter was caked with dust. Written annotation on the filter said it was from Feb. We called and they replaced it within a couple of hours; Thanks! Mold and moldy smell under sink from leaky disposal. Moldy shower curtain/liner. Four table lamps in the unit and two of them worked. Wall clock did not work; battery corroded and dead. The complex itself: Metal railings on stairs showed some serious rust in some places; rusted through in spots. Elevator was VERY noisy (and smelly) with no inspection certificate or "certificate on file at: xxx" markings. Supposedly there are two others elevators on property but they did not work. Parking was in issue on Saturday night party night. They have tandem parking for those with two cars for a given condo unit. On Saturday night with some pool partying going on, there were some two-car slots blocked by single cars and all but one of those did not have the parking passes in them. Office closes at 6. Security guard told us we could not park up front but offered no solution when informed all slots in garage were taken or blocked. Sunday morning office does not open until 10 so could not ask about the vehicle (without parking pass) that blocked us in. read more

Worst experience ever. The management (Eric) was the most unprofessional person I have ever meet. Eric was very confrontational as well as rude when we arrived. I will not bore you with all the details, I highly recommend you look elsewhere. read more
