I told the gentleman manning the booth I was curious what he was offering and he provided me a quick overview and the availability to sample some of the greens. I circled the market and made my way back to pick up a container of yummy sorrel micro greens. I also stopped at the fish truck and ordered the lobster roll. Surprisingly I've never had a lobster roll prior to today. The lobster was good and the roll it came on was fantastic. Although, I enjoyed my sandwich I can't justify a $17 sandwich for lunch on a routine basis. There were plenty of food options but not enough farmers selling fresh produce. I counted only two farm stands, not including the micro greens guy. Parking was plenty and there was even live entertainment and covered seating provided. I would definitely recommend dropping by if you work in the area. Next time, I plan to pick up some of the unique popcorn that I noticed with interesting flavors.

They are located at 935 Prose Street, next to Bark Central. There was quite a variety of vendors here for opening day. Not a lot of produce stands, but other things to enjoy such as Greek specialties from Mathias (now located off Twinbrook Pkwy) and Metro Microgreens selling a large variety of organic microgreens at reasonable prices. I bought a clamshell container of sunflower. About 4oz for $10. They come rooted in coco coir mats that are compostable. There is a parking garage the other side of Bark that is pretty vacant in the Market morning hours and of course free for two hours. The market is also very dog friendly and no masks are required anymore.

A pretty solid farmers market. Especially if you're looking for produce. I think I counted three or…read morefour produce stands at the market. I ended up going with the one that I saw a line at while I was purchasing from the bakery stand. The tomatoes I purchased from that stand were top notch! Would definitely go there again. I have to say... I was a little disappointed with my breads from that bakery stand I went to in particular. It's name is something like "Farmers Market Bakery" or "Farm Market Breads." Something like that... very literal. The woman there was super helpful and ran down the line of breads (which they have a pretty solid selection of). I ended up getting a loaf of the rosemary and citrus sourdough, pumpernickel, a scone, and a loaf of challah for mom. I didn't LOVE the rosemary citrus or the pumpernickel. I thought the breads were a bit too dense and dry. The scone also wasn't the best scone I've ever had. I'd likely hold off on this stand next time. They do have DMV empanadas there which I love! That was lunch that day. I got a shrimp, spinach and cheese, and spicy pork empanada. All of them were delicious with a special shout out to the spinach and cheese and shrimp ones. On the way out of the market, I noticed this large smoker set up next to a pop up tent that I couldn't believe I missed on the way in. I picked up some brisket and smoked chicken from that stand. The brisket was a little dry, but the chicken was everything I wanted it to be. Deep smoky flavor that did not disappoint. The gentleman running that stand was nice enough to throw in a brioche bun so I could make a brisket sandwich when I got home. I toasted the bun, and accidentally burnt the heck out of it. It was so disappointing. Note: Brioche does not need to be toasted for long at all. SO much butter in the bread. But yeah, overall a cute little farmers market that has a decent selection of produce and local vendors. Miscellaneous Distillery sets up there to sell liquor produced in Mt. Airy. There is also a local seafood vendor, cheese vendor, coffee and more. You must wear a mask while in the market, and maintain social distancing. Some stands have signs pointing out that you should purchase what you touch. Exceedingly difficult with produce... but I tried my best.

I've been eating fish in DC since I was a little kid, but this was my first time ask Yelp to direct me to a spot in my hood. OCS was the closest place with the best reviews, so with my mom's advice to "make sure the place doesn't smell fishy, I headed right on over. First of all, no fishy smell and clean clean. Secondly, Nicholas helps you select the fish, so no strange outside hands on the fish. Great selections, great prices, and they had EVERYTHING I needed, right on down to the fish heads. They made sure everything was skinned and filleted and I was out of there fast fast. Nicholas is charming and his staff is efficient. Next time I need a bunch of fish, I'm definitely coming here!

The parking is mostly in the adjacent lot and ... let's just say this is a bit of uneven terrain and therefore not so accessible to everyone ... so that can be a disappointment if someone with mobility issues comes unprepared (such as not knowing or without a mobility device). There are also some interesting hummuses available -- such as one with artichoke, and they do give samples! It is small but (can be) great for its size, depending on one's needs, wants, and timing!

Part of the allure of this market is that you can enjoy the 10-12 vendors and then mosey your way through downtown for antique shops, coffee, a park, pastries and more. During our brief visit, we picked up a vegan curry chickpea salad, chai tea, empanadas, and fresh juice. The Latin baked goods stand (which seemed to be a mix of Brazilian, Mexican, etc), was the star of the show at the market with by far the longest lines. The market also featured a cheese stand, produce, compost business and plant stand. The vibe was super low key- don't expect a bunch of extras like music, entertainment, etc.

But my brain and that parking lot are fighting for our lives every time I try to get in and out. Whenever I'm in Olney taking care of my mom, Curbside Crabs is my stop. I ordered large crabs, but they were noticeably smaller and much lighter than what I normally receive from them. I understand that size and weight can sometimes vary, but the quality was definitely not what I've come to expect, especially for what I paid. Before leaving a review, I reached out to the business directly by text to explain my concerns. I even told them I planned to order again and simply asked if they could offer a discount or some type of consideration because of my last order. Unfortunately, I never received a response at all. That was probably the most disappointing part. As a loyal customer, I would have appreciated at least an acknowledgment of my concern. Good customer service isn't just about taking orders, it's also about how you handle a customer when something isn't right. I really enjoyed ordering from this business in the past, but being ignored after bringing up a legitimate concern has definitely changed how I feel about continuing to spend my money here.

My hubby and I caught the tail-end of the market and bought some treats to take home! Veg Heaven - Scrumptious vegan pastries particularly the moist and fluffy blueberry muffin! The banana muffin and apple turnovers are tasty too. While the bbq fried chicken sandwich was fun to try, it was dense and messy. The chocolate eclairs that I got from the Capital Harvest on the Plaza farmers market in DC was divine. The pastries rotate around different farmers markets, will have to check out their Tyson's location! Twin Valley Distilleries - The whiskey and flavored rum tasting was too tempting to pass up a bottle! The sweetness of the fresh juices perfectly masked the rum, cutting the alcohol content to 15% ABV. Refreshing and perfect for a warm summer day with a nice kick! We bought all 3 flavored rums at $25/each - Hibiscus Sorrel, Fruit Punch, and Pineapple. Potomac Sweets - The croissants and decadent pastries looked scrumptious! Although the pastries are stored in a glass display case, they are still baking under the sun and are dry and stale. The brownie was alright. Recommend grabbing a pastry here bright and early when the market opens. Senzu Juice - Refreshing cold-pressed juices. The "Refresh" Watermelon Mint juice is my favorite. Liberty Delight Farms - All sorts of dog goodies from raw bones to chunky pieces of dried beef heart and chicken/beef liver. Treat your dog at the market!
