I've made the mistake of purchasing different meats from them multiple times at our local grocery store, and each time I've had to literally throw it away because it's that bad. I would either forget that this was the same company that I had that horrible experience with, or that this time with a different style meat they'll be better... And this time was the bresaola. They should be a ashamed of themselves even calling it that. Dry and disgusting flavor. I won't make this mistake again. In fact, I just picked up for less money from the same grocery store, 'Brooklyn Cured' bresaola, and it was out of this world delicious. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money on these amateur butchers who only know how to market, but not make their meats.

AND the Rosemary is not overpowering and the cayenne is pretty light too, imo. It's lamb, so it's rich, and not much is needed in whatever your cooking. Two sausages, for us, is four servings. The price is right! About $7 for a pack of four large sausages. Will try the other varieties at some point, but when our orzo pasta dish is on the menu, the lamb is so perfect. You can find the lamb and many of their other sausage varieties at Yes! Organic Market (at least at the Georgia Ave Petworth location).

I actually…read moredidn't know about the Farmers Market until I spotted one of my favorite dessert shops are vendors at this location. So what did I do, planned to go first thing Saturday morning! Located at the Crofton Library parking lot, parking for the Market is onsite - front and back parking lot options, street parking and the church across the street provides parking. Open at 8am - noon and food trucks until 2pm on Saturday's, I saw any and everything you could imagine. Farm fresh produce, pies, goats milk soap, freshly pressed juices, speciality cookies and cupcakes, and EMPANADAS! We were like kids in a candy store, so clearly everything I just listed, we purchased. All of the vendors we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The Farmers Market opens in May and closes for the season in November. My top 3 vendors, Sugar Butter Love, DMV Empanadas, and the Goats Milk Soap vendor - sorry can't remember their name. All had quality options to purchase. The Market has a website to check out the vendors that will be on display, as well as social media pages. I was impressed and will absolutely be back! Note to the wise, bring a reusable bag or two to collect your purchased items. I even brought an insulated bag for my hot/cold items.

A typical week includes two types of fruit, some sort of leafy green (salad greens in spring, kale and such later on), some sort of potatoes, an additional veggie (like peppers, onions, and/or eggplant), a loaf of bread and a dozen eggs. My girlfriend and I take one share, designed for a family of four, and we eat well all summer and fall and are able to save a significant amount for winter. They're usually open every Saturday with extra foods and meats for sale. Lastly, even though this is a family operation, they are always quick to credit their "workshares" - members who work picking and/or packing produce in exchange for reduced rates on their CSA. A local business worth supporting.

Some vendors I've found to be a little hit-or-miss, but in my short time staying in the area, I'm already a big fan of Cheverly Breadbasket and Heavenly Created Desserts. The former offers Firehook Bakery pastries and breads; I'm especially a huge fan of their blackberry danishes. The latter has pies, cupcakes, and other baked goods. They accommodated my request for a apple-cranberry pie, and I was really impressed that they remembered when I stopped by earlier today, 2 weeks afterwards. It's a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and there's a couple of fold-out tables and chairs for people to eat, chat, and observe. Worth checking out if you're in the area; the ridiculous Saturday traffic on Landover Road/Route 202 alone is worth avoiding to come here instead.
