I went (excitedly so) to my first ever pointe fitting at another store in San Francisco (won't drop any names). I got home and thought...you know...not once in my whole appointment did I ever get over the box. I get that I'm new to pointe but...is that normal? I also was given toe pads, a big toe cap, and toe spacers. And told because my feet are 2 slightly different sizes I'd probably need to buy 2 pairs of shoes (I did not). All this to say I tried on my shoes at home, filmed myself...and cried. THE FIT WAS AWFUL. I called Bourree and explained the entire scenario - asking if I could come in and show the shoe I'd been sold elsewhere. If they agreed with the shoe - great! I'd pay a fitting fee. If we could find something better - even better! I get new shoes. Staff spent over an hour with me going shoe by shoe. It was amazingly thorough, and SO personal. They really made me feel like a valid dancer with valid concerns and a future on pointe - rather than adult student. I probably tried 10+ shoes and NONE were a similar shape...or size...to what I'd been sold elsewhere. We also reduced my padding ...and I somehow felt MORE comfortable! I started with Nikolay nova flex in size 5 XXXX. I walked out of Bourree with Bloch Euro Stretch size 6.5 X. Talk about a difference. I immediately got over the box. No sickling, no wobbly ankles, just confidence and reassurance that IM not the problem - a "bad" fitting was. Pointe is expensive but I do appreciate the loyalty program the store has! You're getting the best bang for your buck you're ever going to get with pointe shoes. From the bottom of my heart thank you to Bourree for making me feel like a ballerina.

And when I asked for a size smaller, a bit harder, any minor adjustment, no problem they had it in stock. In the end I was indecisive not because I didn't like any of them but because I liked all three final contenders! Amazing deals too: elastics come with purchase of shoes not separate purchase, 6th pair (or maybe after 6) is a free one. If only I had come here for my very first pair, I'd be getting a free one now haha Staff were also kind and helpful. The week before I brought in my Gaynor's with sinking issues and told them all the different solutions I had tried that failed. They were knowledgeable and let me try a sole liner which up til now works. And since they were out of stock they let us have their sample free of charge! And this week when I was trying shoes they had some comments about how certain shoes fit, but weren't pushy at all about which one I should buy. Elseana was very friendly and welcoming when we first arrived. She took her time to examine the fit of different pointe shoes on my daughter's foot to make sure it was comfortable. She also took her time to explain how to maintain the pointe shoe, how to use the extra inserts/covers needed to protect her toes, when it would be time to replace them, etc. They also sell the sewing kit and straps for the pointe shoe. They also sell stockings and regular ballet shoes. Thanks Elseana for a wonderful experience for my daughter's first Pointe shoe fitting! Tip: Set aside extra time to find parking because it's only street parking available.

My daughter joined SFB this summer so drove from LA and were excited to visit this fitting session which we had it scheduled ahead via online from their website (we were still thrilled knowing ahead that Josephine wasn't going to be at the shop) A young lady opened the door with no expression on her face (why am I here on Sunday..kind of expression)and said name isn't on the list and had a big sigh that we were even standing at the door. She said she doesn't have to let us in but she has only 10 min until the next client. Of course she was so so not helpful. Never experience this kind of rudeness from fitting shop. (Why did I not ask her name!!) This lady was very unprofessional and rude all through 10 minutes. Shop didn't have inventory of what we were looking for and she didn't even try to offer us the different style like all the other proper fitting shop and kept creating the most unwelcoming aura which we could not bother her anymore. Another client arrived, this rude lady opened the door didn't say any greeting to her either and and said it will be a short to have her in and didn't let young client inside the shop and let this teen girl stayed outside on windy SF day even though there was an empty seat available inside the store. We didn't want to do anything with this business esp. with her anymore. (W/O doing anything, she charged me 40 dollars of fitting fee!) I really wonder what she has done except throwing the shoes from the ladder never getting down from it. We didn't even expect her to get down and try even ONE squeeze on the ankle area. Nothing!! I hold my breath down because I did not want to ruin my daughter's first day at SFB. I was surprised when she told us the total. Our usual store has higher prices. Even though this store is further from home for us, my daughter & I decided this is our new dance store.
