If I could give them 0 stars I would. To start off I scheduled an appointment the day before for…read more9:30am. I got to the salon right at 9:30 and no one was there. I had to wait 10 minutes for the owner to come and she was rude when she saw me there. I told her I had an appointment and she reluctantly said ok. I had on dip nails from a previous appointment i wanted to take off. I asked for a simple manicure which was posted as $20. I have been going to get my nails done for years, and I know the price of nails. You never pay to get them to taken off. So i say i want a manicure and she's like gel? I said no just simple nail polish. And she's like ok it's gonna be the same price as gel then. I asked why because her price was posted as $20 for a normal manicure and a gel manicure was $35. She then proceeded to say ok fine. So we continued with the manicure. She did an okay job, but my nails were unevenly shaped. Then before she painted my nails with regular nail polish she goes, can you pay before i finish??? I'm very confused because i have never seen this etiquete before. I have no nail polish on at this point and i say okay, how much. And she goes $35 and i respond, i thought we talked and it was only $20 since that's the price posted??? She said no i already did a manicure and took off your nail polish so it's $35, and she starts another lady's pedicure. I told her i do not want her to paint my nails and i want to leave. She said it will be $25 then. I have never been to a place where they charge you to take off your DIP nails. I will never ever ever go back here and I already told all of my friends to never go here as it was the worst nail experience i have ever been to and it was absolutely disgustingly dirty. Terrible place.

I LOVE Robin. I'm writing this review months (like thanksgiving) later (oops) but Robin took me in…read moreand explained everything to me and worked with me. I told her I wanted it natural enough to grow out and not need touch ups but light enough to complement my eyes and try something new. Robin is funny, inspiring, and has such a big heart. LOVE.

Dear ANYONE, but also BIRACIAL/OTHER ETHNICITIES--ASK FOR SHAYLA R!!!!! Good value, good service,…read moreexpertise, close attention. Ok. So--you know how you just have an epiphany bc you wake up tired of so much hair, or you see a recent pic of yourself and are horrified. Anything would be better than dragging that has been style around any longer. I looked up 5 West Hair Salon after trying and trying and trying Laehn's. No answer. I wanted answers. I called 5 West and said I really needed a hair cut. It was 11:16. I said I needed to be at an important lunch with a dear friend by 1:30. Could they fit me in anytime in that window?? "Could you come at 12?" they inquired. (Man--I thought--now THAT'S accomodating!) I get there all frazzled bc I got lost, drove right past it because it looks tiny and you can miss it. But don't be misled. I was treated better at this small salon than at some of the most prestigious salons on the East and West Coast I've visited. They do some elegant out of this world style, that you get to rock for one day or until you wash your hair, then you're on your own to take ownership of that blank canvas all over again, without the knowlege or tools. (And if they sold you a cream in a buy one get one half off gig, great, so you have ANOTHER overpriced hair cream you just can't seem to duplicate your desired effects with.) Not here!!!!! You come in. Very friendly, SO VERYYY KNOWLEDGEABLE, VERYY PROFESSIONAL. Not selfish with the knowledge of how to work YOUR hair. My stylist admitted to being an artist, but wanted the results to be something I loved, and could ALSO do on my own. My style and cut was not just her work. She did it, but then slowly handed the reigns to me by asking if I wanted a lttle more thinning out here, or some more texture there, when I didn't know the difference of any of those effects, she explained. After the cut, she added some curls with a flat iron. I was embarrarassed bc I own a flat iron but have NEVER been able to use it correctly to curl. She showed me time and time again. I asked if I could use the one in her hand and she could show me by me doing. "Sure!!" she answered. So she gives me her tool and lets me take my time trying as much of my hair as I wanted to to see if I could match her effect. As I start out wrong, she stood at a respectable distance, never hovering, and talked me through how to undo my potential mistake, only reaching in to reset the orientation of my hand when I showed sadness at my ineptness. This girl is young! I asked for her card, It states Shayna R. on it, but I promised I wouldn't put her full last name for privacy. I was also MOST impressed bc my hair is no ordinary set of tresses. It is long, thick, honestly comparable in texture to horse hair, unmanageable, kinky, frizzy, bipolar, etc. I told Shayla and I'll tell you-my hair is NOT my friend. Shayla said she had some years in Seattle where she worked with EVERY kind of hair, she talked the talk and when she had me leaving loving MY HAIR--she walked the walk right then too!!!!!
