I was very pleased with the haircut that I received at salon. Not only with the haircut with the service. Everything about my visit to volt was exceptional Pauline, my stylist, was very easy going. I showed her a picture of what I wanted immediately she was able to assess the picture and convince me that the style wood be a good choice for me. I was very happy when I left and I do intend to make her my permanent stylist. I like sticking with one person and I believe I have found her. As for the salon itself I have to say that it was clean and tidy. Comfortable. read more

I made a reservation here on a whim because I wanted a new balayage and this place was close enough and had the best reviews. Atmosphere: I really love their decor! it's cute and a little rustic but not too ~bougie~ like other salons. it seemed very lowkey for a Tuesday morning at 9 am but I guess everyone else was working their normal day job at the time. I was with Laura and I showed her a few pictures and she listened really well to what I wanted and consulted with me. I trusted her and i'm glad I did! Not only did she give me what i wanted, but made it a point to talk me through everything she was doing. My appointment did last close to 3 hours (which was to be expected) but time flew by! They were very accommodating (snacks and coffee for free), and always made sure I was comfortable. I really loved my experience at this salon! Not to mention, I was prepared to spend much more than I did (on the cheaper side-- at least for someone coming from Houston). I wish I was staying in SA longer to keep coming here, but I highly recommend Salon Volt for a first time hair color, cut, whatever you need! read more

Valerie is amazing! It had been over a year since my last haircut because of a bad experience (somewhere else) and she knocked it out of the park. Chelsea cut my daughter's hair today also. She was awesome - she was patient and kind to my very chatty 9 year old. read more

I got my haircut by Chelsea and she was great! She explained everything she was doing step by step which was great because I was a little nervous; my hair was below my waist and I wanted a long bob I did go back to get it a little more texturized because I had a lot of thick hair. She managed to remove the weight without changing the style I wanted. I will definitely go back. read more

Great salon and service! Jordan did a trial bridal updo for me and i was super impressed! She really focuses on her clients and what THEY want, even if that means changing some things to fit the client's style. Highly recommend and will be back! I have gone to the salon three times in a year to try different stylists. I'm looking for a new salon as the person who has cut my hair in the past has moved out of town. I got a decent cut, nothing special at salon Volt. I will not be going back. I don't like the last cut I got so. I am moving on. Oddly enough I have gotten better cuts at Great Clips, though it is hit or miss there too. But I pay less for a bad cut at Great Clips. read more

Awfulllllll!!! I asked for balayage with thicker highlight around the face and NO BLACK. And what did I get... a very uneven haircut, black hair with two uneven orange pieces in the front. Juliet Guerrero damaged my hair with one of their Brazilian Blowout sales, the damage isn't worth it, I essentially paid to have my hair heat damaged. Avoid booking with her, and just go with one of the more experienced stylists from the get-go, as you won't have hair that will need to be trimmed later. They did give me a Split end repair treatment to fix her mistake, but even then, my hair is still damaged. read more

(Review is based on customer service rather than Hair) I called three times to try and make an appointment, and I was put on hold each time (5-10m). I figured they must be too busy to answer the phone, so I drove there (10 minute drive). Nope, not busy at all. The receptionists (there were two) were messing around at the front desk instead of picking up the phone. I asked them if they accepted walk-ins and they said yes, but they were booked for the day. Wow! Wish I had known if they had bothered to answer the phone. I'm disappointed seeing as I can't even make an appointment with a Salon that supposedly has raving reviews. Customer service? I have been going to Salon Volt since Amber opened the shop. I've had my hair cut and styled by Ms. Amber the Lady herself, Laura, and Jordan. They've washed, cut, colored, and styled my hair. Important to note is that my hair is rather intense- it's ridiculously thick, and there is a ton of it- left to its own devices I look like a hungover banshee that just stuck a fork in a light socket! What I'm trying to get across is that my hair is difficult and that I trust these ladies entirely. The cuts are flawless, the color perfect, and the conversation unbeatable. These immensely talented women take my wild, frizzy, knotted mane and through an awe inspiring work of patience and determination transform it into a smooth, silky, waterfall of black curls. There is surely magic in their fingers. If- and that is a gargantuan if- in some incredibly unlikely scenario you find yourself less than incandescently happy at the end of your appointment, the ladies will bend over backwards to ensure that you leave their shop with a smile on your face. Going to Salon Volt is not just a great experience for my hair, but also for my spirit as well. I know it sounds sappy, but I always feel a thousand time better after spending time with these incredible ladies. They are my defacto therapists, my confessors, my life coaches, and personal comedians. As I always say- do not just listen to me. Go see why Salon Volt and her staff can inspire such a soliloquy- I only hope I did them and their work justice. read more

Salon Volt - Balayage by Valerie - Hair Salons Near Me - Port Lavaca, Texas

I wanted to like this place because my girlfriend recommended it and said it was amazing. I have been growing out a pixie cut for the last year and all you pixie girls know how hard that is! The first cut was average but not trendy. Not a bad but but not youthful or in style. It was more of a mom bob. I called to make the appointment for another try and said that I needed a very trendy blunt cut with a bit of an a line shape. I was told i would be set up with a stylist that knew how to do that kind of cut. I said I wanted a Lauren Conrad lob and the picture is what I got. She styled my hair big and poofy like a senators wife. No offense to the polished look girls but that is NOT the look I asked for. I had my little one with me and she had an appointment after so I clearly couldn't get it fixed. Hack job doesn't even begin to describe it. I wanted BLUNT and layers removed. What I got was blunt layers with extremely short( to my ears!!) layers, and uneven sides. So incredibly mad. It take forever to get length when it's this short just to have it chopped off!!! My baby is six months and I needed to feel pretty. Now I have jacked hair and I look exhausted all the time. Won't be going back. Edit: was contacted by Amber the owner and she was very professional and helpful. Going in tomorrow for a consultation about how to fix this mess. The stylist who cut it, Brittani, is no longer at the salon and actually cold texted me soliciting her new salon(eek). Thank goodness she isn't there. Amber profusely apologized and is looking forward to seeing what we can do about this hack. read more

I got the exact haircut I wanted and friendly service. I used to have long hair that was all one length. I asked for a "lob" with the longest layer at my collarbone and the shortest at my chin. Turned out great! I felt very comfortable in my stylist's hands and she gave me helpful product recommendations. I'm a student so I got a discount and I also had the $15 off coupon so my haircut in the end only cost $20. I don't see myself coming here again just for a trim since it's a little pricey and I'm living life on a budget, unless they come out with more coupons. But if you are making a major hair change I think this is a good place to splurge. read more

So I came here for the first time ever to have my hair transitioned from red to blonde. Now I know red is the hardest color to get out so I was okay with paying the money for sessions to get what I wanted. I made sure to get all the red I could out by washing it out and letting my roots grow as much as I could. So we were suppose to do 2 sessions but the lady I got wanted to do it all in one so I went in and she started bleaching my hair. She bleached it 3 times in one day, by the 3rd time she put foil in my hair with the bleach again and it started to sizzle by the time she got to the other half of my head the bleach was even burning my scalp so bad I thought my entire head was going to catch fire. After the 3rd time she decided she couldn't fix it and left my hair in such a horrible state. After everything I asked for a refund and all she told me is that she could give me some conditioners for my hair. Would not recommend to anyone and I never plan on coming back. read more

I do not recommend this salon if you are trying to make this your new place to go or want a consistent haircut or want easy appointment scheduling. I started going back to this Salon last year after leaving it for several years due to inconsistency in my haircuts. I could never have the same haircut for longer than a few months because my cut always came out different; one day I left with short hair with no intention of cutting my length. The hairdresser just kept cutting and cutting. I went back last year for highlights and decided to go to the owner, Amber, because I had always seen her clients with nice color. The owner did a great job with my highlights but 1)I had to miss hours from work because she only takes her "loyal" customers on Saturdays; 2) I would schedule using their online service and the salon would always call me back to tell me the time I chose wasn't going to work and I would have to push my Appointment out more;3) Amber, the owner, stopped doing roots and then said she wasn't doing any color at all. All this, again, with not enough time for me to reschedule with someone else. I refused to use the junior stylist because I let her do my roots and after two tries and 4 hours at the salon, I still had white roots. Just horrible. Amber, the owner acted like I was being difficult because I was upset. She said she would give me a spray to use on my roots until my next appointment 8 weeks later!!! WTH!! It was ridiculous. They really are overrated here. They are nice ladies but I just needed some good service. I'm done. I'm never going back. read more

I really wanted to like this place, especially after reading some of the reviews. This was my first time at Salon Volt with Valerie. I went in on Wednesday Dec 14th for a root touch up, cut and a conditioning treatment. I explained how my hair normally pulls red and how I was wanting to avoid that. When we washed my hair, I could tell immediately the roots were a reddish tones, which I did not want. Valerie trimmed my hair (which for $65 was not much of a hair cut) and did offer to re-do the color the next day. We did not have enough time to do the conditioning treatment, so I again went back on Saturday morning. During this visit, I did ask Valerie to cut my layers a bit more and asked for the "face layer" to be a bit shorter. What i got was a very uneven, choppy, mullet looking hair cut. I called the salon on Tuesday asking if I could speak to Amber (the owner) to have her fix my hair. I spoke with Alexander who stated that Amber was very busy with clients and couldn't come to the phone. I asked if anyone else could fix my hair for me, as the Christmas holiday was coming up and he stated, they would charge me to go to a new stylist, since that would be considered a new hair service. I asked if Valerie or Amber could fix my hair and if either could accommodate my work schedule, which would be about 4pm. I was told, they do not keep the salon open after hours. (I was looking for a 4 appt, they close at 7) After paying about $188 (color, trim, treatment) I never got a phone call back and no one made the effort to try and make things right by fixing my hair. read more

I honestly have never been so happy with my hair. I've been getting my hair bleached for years. I am a platinum blonde, and it's really hard to find someone who knows what they're doing when it comes to coloring blonde hair without ruining it. Since moving to San Antonio I've tried numerous salons and hairstylist. Today I found the only place I will ever go again. Guess I got stuck with a bad stylist! All the reviews scream 5 stars...but I left with a -2 star crooked and poorly done haircut. Won't be coming back and certainly telling everyone to run away. I guess if you get Amber you are in luck ? Anyone else and you may as well take kitchen shears to your hair. I am mad I even paid for my terrible/crooked cut and not what I wanted cut. But, even bad hairdressers gotta eat I guess. I went to a different salon on Sat who confirmed the overall lack of skill that went into the cut I received and fixed it for me for cheap(it was that tragic). The overall cut I got from volt was crooked, lazy, and unfinished. Nothing like I asked for. Thankfully, the girl who fixed it for me gave me exactly the cut I asked for...no excuses. It is too bad too, the shop is cute and close. I felt like there was a little deception on my stylists part, and although I asked for a difficult haircut, she should've admitted to not having ADEQUATE skills to do it prior to picking up the scissors. Too bad I won't be back am making sure all my friends stay away! read more

I love my hair cut! I love it more and more everyday! Laura Nicole is a gem! She looked at my pictures and listened well as she asked good questions for clarification. She is confident as well. I had a small waiting period, after my appointment began. The odd thing was, the floor was semi-empty. The stylist Amber, was very straight to the point- get in and get out, no conversation, or smile. She seemed very cold. I do not think that is appropriate, when your in customer service. The service she provided not to the standard of these reviews. None of my layers got blended, which in my opinion equals laziness! I had to wash my hair later that evening, because a gooey hair product was left in my hair, which made my scalp itch. I asked for an additional eyebrow service and was politely turned down. At least the price was fair, the salon was clean(except her chair had hair on it from a prior appointment), and the location was easy to find. I came here, because of the yelp reviews but i will not be back! read more

Nicolette did my hair and overcharged the fuck out of me to bleach my already bleached hair (and all I needed was a root touch up). I asked for some Olaplex and she decided to make like 5 bowls of bleach mix and put Olaplex in each one so she could charge me extra per "bowl". Let me just note my hair is fine and barely shoulder length. WHY she needed THAT much bleach when all I needed was my ROOTS bleached is BEYOND ME. This salon used to be good, in my opinion they're rushed and sloppy now. Also Pauline burned the shit out of my sister's hair. My sister had to cover their mistake and chop off a majority of her beautiful almost BUTT LENGTH HAIR. Thanks for that Pauline, you ruined it. read more

I've been in San Antonio for 9 months. Before I came here I used to go to Korean hair salon, same stylist, for more than 10 years in Atlanta. I was not worrying about having my hair cut that time because my stylist cuts mine right every time I go. I though my hair style was easy to cut, so when I moved to San Antonio I cut my hair at Great Clip where my husband goes. And I realize that you should be in good hands with a hair stylist. They just ruined my hair and I got frustrated until I met Brittini at Salon Volt. I found Salon Volt here at Yelp, and the reviews were great so I gave a shot. It was little more expensive than Korean Salon at Atlanta, but it was worth it. Brittini did a wonderful job, and I love my hair. Having a nice hair even boosts my confidence. Thank you Brittini!
