I'm giving this one star only because it started out nice. Wendy is a very nice woman with a long history of haircutting. Which I suppose gave her authority that trumped my request. I had a challenge with extreme hair loss. My hair is so thin these days. I'm trying to keep most my length which was down past my boobs. I asked Wendy to take off about 2 inches "maximum"just to neaten it up. But I wanted to keep the length. It's always such a violating and heartbreaking feeling when a hairdresser does what they want despite what you ask. My hair is now shoulderlength. She tried to express she only took off 2 inches! From where I started to where my hair is now, there's a solid 6 inches span. I have a before and after picture but I'm not going to post it. That's a substantial change. Wendy also decided that a blunt straight cut was what was needed to make it look thicker. Clearly my voice didn't matter. I'll get over this eventually but I'm certainly not gonna say nice things about what was done. Being respectful of someones clear request might be first and foremost! First salon appointment I've had in 8 years. It's pricey but i rather pay more for a great cut than less for something I'm not happy with. Dax "got me" and gave me exactly what I wanted! I never had a chance to review, but I had my hair done at this salon last year by Christina. I walked in with VERY healthy hair and brought in a clear photo of what I wanted. (By the way, the owner, Mark, had later commented on how healthy my hair was when I came in). Christina did interesting colors with my hair but THREE times she redid it and never got it anywhere close to what I wanted. My hair was SHOT after that! The worse part is Mark took no responsibility and offered NO financial recourse. he said since she was an independent contractor, it was between she and I. I should have reviewed long ago, but since I am left with the damage still, a year later, I am NOW. Just understand 2 things: there are very unprofessional stylists at this salon and 2.( if they mess up your hair, you're pretty much S.O.L. This is a great salon! I highly recommend it, especially if you ask for Lyndy. She is THE BEST! She did my hair and makeup for my wedding day, and she made me look and feel so beautiful (which is rare for me). I met with Lyndy four times. Once for a makeup trial, once for a hair trial, once for an eyebrow and facial wax, and then of course on my wedding day for my hair and makeup. I truly don't know where to begin. Not only was this the best haircut of my life, but it was a relaxing and wonderful experience. Dax is an artist. I have LONG hair and I have felt in the past that some hairstylists see my hair as a burden to their day. Not Dax; he was a meticulous perfectionist. I am getting married in less than a week so I was nervous about getting my haircut so soon before the wedding, but I told Dax what I had in mind, and he did exactly what I wanted even though I'm sure my explanation wasn't fantastic. The appointment started with an explanation of what he was going to do, after hearing what I was thinking, and then a wonderful wash with a head massage that almost put me to sleep it was so relaxing. Afterward he meticulously cut my hair. It was like watching a sculptor work, it was really just wonderful. Afterward he began to blowout my hair. I will tell you, at this point of my haircuts, I'm usually worried, because again, I have a lot of hair and it's very long, but he did it PERFECTLY! No frizz, no tangles, just smooth silky, beautiful hair. This haircut and blowout was worth every penny. I highly recommend Dax. He is a professional who sees his trade as art. I cannot really say enough about how truly great this salon is. I just moved to AZ and Salpon Virtu was recommended to me by my realtor. Knowing no one else to ask, I just went with it. I read all the reviews first though and settled on Dax to cut my hair and Candy to color it and I really think I aced it. Getting a good outcome when bleaching and coloring my hair is rare, but Candy took it all in, said it was NO problem getting me to where I wanted to be and gave me the best color I have ever had. Additionally, she did it in about half the time my stylist in CA used to take. Bonus! Dax did my cut and he was super friendly, a great resource for all interesting things in Sedona and gave me a terrific cut. Everyone here is super friendly and super talented. This is a late review. I got my hair done by a dark long haired older lady there named mindy? Or I could be wrong about the name. It was my first time there since I moved back to Sedona. I wanted my hair shorter like shoulder length, and showed her a few pictures about the ideas. She started trimming and She kept on asking me how short and if the length is ok do I want shorter? I mean for a hair dress I expect her to be more knowledgeable about the trend the styles and maybe give some suggestions. She was able to do some layers on my hair, I have thick dark hair. We were talking while getting my hair done she knows I was checking on my young daughter then she said don't worry I will be quick. I wasn't happy about what she said. I DO NOT WANT MY HAIR DRESSER TO HURRY! my daughter was with grandma she's fine. So I told her it's fine don't need to hurry. I wish mark( I think that's the owners name) could teach or train their employees about their knowledge on the latest trends and keep everyone updated. Overall I wasn't happy about the cut I got from her and it wasn't worth $80(with tip). WOULD NOT GO BACK THERE AGAIN. read more
