I had tried many salons in the area…read more I stumbled upon James at this Salon I arranged to come in and meet with him. He was so cordial and professional on the phone. I decided to return today to Villa Di Roma after many years. The original owner ,an Elvis enthusiast , is not there anymore but still owns it. The owner being an Elvis impersonator ,really drew me to the salon over the years. James however , is a terrific stylist, cutter and professional hair professional. There are two other girls in the Salon that do a terrific job as well as that I could clearly see from the haircut styles / cuts that were done when I was there . I had my hair styled and trimmed and it looks beautiful. I will return in a few weeks for color. Note: I had some split ends and James noticed this immediately and he recommended that I have them cut off. I thought that I was allergic to a hair dying product that another salon told me that I was allergic to. My hair had turned orange on top and I got little pimples on my scalp. I explained to James that I may be allergic to a Hair dying product used at a salon I visited a few weeks ago. James immediately tested me and I found out I am not allergic to the hair dye(s) used in their salon. I will return to the salon in a few weeks and I will decide on the color . I will of course consult with James first as to his thoughts on what the best color would be for my skin tone and overall looks. He advised me NOT to do highlights since I have very thin and brittle hair, He advised me that once the highlights grow out, , a gray tone will appear on my roots and near my scalp. He advised me that I will then frequently need a touchup of the roots, which is very costly and is not good for the hair. he advised me instead to do a base color that would fit my skin tone and looks. James has owned and worked in many salons in the Westchester County area and in the Queens area as well. He is highly professional experienced and very pleasant. I give this Salon a Five star "Plus " rating and review., "When you have tried all the rest now try the best " The Salon caters to all men, women, and children of all ages. Signed , a very happy customer.

She is THE BEST hairdresser I've ever gone to and I've been to so many. As a blonde, it's really hard to find someone that knows what they're doing and will not damage your processed hair. She really knows what she's doing with color and styling and most of the time you don't come across someone that can do both. They gave her one price(135$) for the service and it turned out to be $65 dollars more. i Never heard of a salon that asks you for a $50 deposit before your appointment. Then charges for the service plus the use of the product depending on how long your hair is. ( my daughter'a hair is just below the shoulders)she decided not to do the blow dry because it was an extra $50. Ended up paying $195 for partial highlights and went home with wet hair. They totally took advantage of her because she has a disability and is easily manipulated. did not give her a price upfront before starting the service.. definitely not transparent! Shame on you.

Realizing that it was going to be a solid 6 weeks until I could get another hair cut, I consulted the Yelps and they led me to Shine. Let me tell you how awesome this place is. Every facet of my experience with Shine was, in a word, perfection. From my phone call, begging for an appointment (which they took cheerfully and got me in to see Ariel right away) to my arrival at the salon, to the shampoo, to my cut, there wasn't a detail that was overlooked and not a moment that I wasn't made to feel special. First off, the space is just beautiful. Housed in a storefront in downtown Ossining, it's an open, airy place with lots of wood and exposed brick; gorgeous. I was given a bottle of spa water (which they make there) with watermelon and mint (delightful on a hot August day) that I could sip while I waited ... which wasn't more than about 45 seconds. Ariel greeted me and took lots of time talking to me about what I liked, what I didn't, taking note of my hair and how it grows, etc. I got shampooed (which included a super-relaxing scalp massage--OMGSONICE) and Ariel got started. She is a MASTER of precision and saw to things with the most exacting detail. My cut is FAN-TASTIC. I love it love it love it. There wasn't a single thing about my experience with Shine that I could make better.

I made an appointment for 10:00 AM and didn't even get started until 10:30. I left at 12:50 PM after only getting a simple powder dip manicure with tips. Almost 3 hours for a basic service is ridiculous. The nail techs clearly have no idea what they're doing. They cut my cuticles and the sides of my fingers badly enough that I was BLEEDING. The glue and products they used made my nails and fingertips burn unlike anything I've ever experienced before. My fingers were sore for DAYS afterward. To make things worse, the woman doing my nails didn't even know what an almond shape was and had to GOOGLE IT. I also overheard the workers speaking Spanish asking each other if they were doing the steps correctly. If you are not properly trained, you should not be working on paying customers without supervision. They also dipped my nails into the WRONG COLOR because the salon had colors mislabeled. I walked out with a completely different color than what I asked for. After spending that much money and sitting there for hours, I left completely unsatisfied. The final result looks terrible -- lumpy, patchy, uneven, and inconsistent. Some nails are glossy while others are matte. It looks messy and unprofessional. This salon should seriously reconsider who they hire because this was unacceptable. Save your money, save your time, and honestly for your own safety DO NOT GO HERE.

The owners have zero sense of professionalism. Frankly, it's a miracle they're still in business. No warning, no notice. When we called, we discovered the reason: the manager simply forgot our appointments and never showed up--appointments they knew were for a wedding! I have never witnessed such a blatant display of incompetence from any so-called professional. Do yourself a favor: NEVER come here. Avoid at all costs. Due to a miracle we were able to book appointments somewhere else last minute. You live and you learn.
