I am currently growing out my hair to eventually donate, and I knew I needed to find someone to help me maintain it while it is in its awkward phase. Having recently moved, I was worried it would take me a few tries to find a place I would be happy with. Luckily, I found out about Salon Time. I easily made an appointment with Tami on the website, received a confirmation, and was set to go. I have been to Salon Time twice now. The first time I went, I was with my girlfriend who also had an appointment. Tami greeted us and was very pleasant, offering us water and chatting with us for a bit. The building itself has a lot of wood and natural lighting, which makes the experience very relaxing. Overall, the atmosphere is very welcoming. Since I never really had long hair before, I didn't know how I wanted to maintain it. Tami listened carefully to what I was going for, and offered great suggestions in areas I was unsure. She skillfully cut my hair, knowing that my intention is to grow it out, and asked for preferences along the way to make sure I was happy with the end result. My girlfriend was also happy with her haircut, and we both left very satisfied. I came back last weekend for a touch-up and the experience was just as good as the first time. She remembered my girlfriend and me and welcomed us back. She gave me another great cut, and also gave us some suggestions for places to check out in the area. This salon is relaxing and professional. I was planning a trip to Puerto Rico and was concerned about how my already frizzy/wavy hair would fare in the humidity there. Christine suggested a keratin smoothing treatment. It honestly changed my hair and made caring for my hair a breeze. Christine is an excellent stylist and is very knowledgeable about hair care. I completely trust her with my hair. She does highlights and haircuts for me too, and I couldn't be happier. I have to give a shout-out to Tami as well because I recently began getting eyelash extensions applied by Tami. If you are tired of applying mascara, only to have it end up all under your eyes like a sad raccoon, eyelash extensions may be right for you. It takes about an hour and is completely painless. They last longer if you can sleep on your back. I tend to sleep in a free-fall position so I usually have mine done every two weeks. I had a lot of trouble finding a stylist who could highlight my blonde hair (to my standard) when I moved to Connecticut. I am originally from California. I was referred to Tami by a friend. She was so sweet and nice! Not only were my highlights gorgeous, but the haircut was amazing too! It is NOT easy to find someone who can do amazing color and is also gifted in haircutting. Not all stylists are created equal, ladies! I have been getting my hair done by Tami and Tami alone for 4 years now. Salon Time is her salon and it is beautiful, clean and welcoming. If you are still not sure if you should get your hair done by her... I will also mention that her salon is located an HOUR from my house. Yes, I drive a total of 2 hours each time I see her (which is about every 8 weeks). She is THAT GOOD! Very professional, no false pretenses, gentle (no hair pulling, scalp scraping, forcing a comb through a snarl) quality cutting, honest opinions and ideas for your hair type. Long hair can be tricky to handle, and she handles it with ease. You know how when you watch someone do their work, no matter what that work might be, and it just seems to flow from them like it's an innate part of them? That's Tami. Tami owns this beautiful, new salon in Newington. From the moment you walk in, you feel relaxed and at ease. The salon itself is very clean, neat, and has a rustic feel. They offer you tea or something to drink, making you feel right at home. Tami has been cutting my hair for almost a year now and I am so happy I found her! I won't go anywhere else. She is very sweet, caring, and easy to talk to while she does your hair. I've been going to get my hair done by Tami for years now and I've now followed her to this new location. Tami is fantastic. She's not only sweet but a phenomenal stylist. She has never tried to sell me or pressure me into doing something with my hair. She always listens to what I want and makes sure I'm happy with the results. I've donated my hair about two or three times with her and even when chopping off more than 10 inches, she always makes my hair look fabulous and its never a scary experience to chop it all off. Tami Le is amazing at the DevaCurl cut! I donated 8" of hair a few months ago and now I love having short, curly hair. She knows what she's doing to provide these kind of results with my thick, difficult hair! She educates you on how to care for your hair and the products she carries but in no way pressures you to buy anything. As someone who used to be ok with getting trims at those cheap chain places, I now won't go anywhere else. In addition to Tami Le's lovely personality, the ambiance is relaxing and rustic, you'd never know the turnpike was out there, but it makes it easy to get to! I can not rave enough about Tami and Salon Time. The first time I visited Salon Time was for my cousin's wedding. Tami and her team did all our hair for the wedding and they all came out beautiful. Without a doubt, this is the BEST salon I've ever been to. My mane has broken countless brushes and even a hair straightener - no professionals have ever known what to do with it. Ten minutes into meeting Tami, I knew she'd be different. Salon time is different then most of the salons I've been to. It feels like a little cottage and isn't to crowded like most salons are with the stations all to close together so you don't feel overwhelmed by the other people in the salon, which is nice. I got my hair dyed from blonde to a fire color and it came out seriously amazing and i was so happy how it came out!!!
