Writing this review for Allison, the nail tech at La Dolce Belladonna. I had previously given up on getting my nails done because they always chipped within days of getting them done, but have recently discovered gel. I've been getting gel pedicures by Allison for 4 months now. I also bring my 5 year old daughter for Mommy & Me dates. My daughter gets an inexpensive polish change. Allison's got a great selection of colors, both traditional and gel. She also has lots of fun extras, like stamps, gems, foil, sparkle, etc. I prefer going to Allison over one of the big multiple seat nail salons where you get a different tech each time and you never know if they're going to be good or not. I make a monthly appointment with Allison and my gel pedicure lasts beautifully for four weeks. She does a great job and is very reasonably priced. I found La Dolce Belladonna Salon due to a great special they were running. I chose my hairdresser because of her Master status. I got really lucky as she and the salon are the best. The salon has ample parking, is squeaky clean, nicely decorated, comfortable and has a welcoming ambiance. Every time I've been there I've been pampered and have left feeling relaxed and pretty. My hairdresser, Danielle Harris, is truly a master. She is an excellent listener who clearly aims to please. She has repeatedly done exactly what I want done with my hair. She has never tried to push me into something different, and I truly appreciate that particular quality. I have no doubt, though, that if I asked her for advice on a new look she'd be right there to assist me in my search. Further, she educates me about the products she uses and how to style my hair so I can reproduce what she has done. I'm a happy customer to say the least!! She used to do my hair years ago and I am so picky and she always got me to a perfect platinum and cut. My hair is very fine and will show any mistake. Just recently I went back to San Diego and hunted her down after years of not seeing her, I found her and was desperate for a color revive and a cut because I had royally damaged my hair. I recently needed 'rescuing' from my hair! I have colored my own hair for years, and as a result my hair was getting darker, and darker even though I was using the same box color. I know hairdressers do not like it when you color your own hair, so I was pleasantly surprised as Colleen (my stylist at La Dolce Belladonna) listen carefully to my concerns and didn't berate me for my D.I.Y efforts! Colleen did an amazing job. I knew changing from black to any color was a long and complicated process, and I was worried I would spend a few weeks with orange hair before our next appointment. But I didn't need to worry. Colleen managed to get my hair to a lovely rich brown, with light brown highlights. Don't get me wrong, this took a few hours! But I was very impressed by her professionalism and skill. The hours skipped past too, as Colleen is very chatty and personable. Went to see Megan with some trepidation as I am fussy about who does my hair. The Groupon offer was enough to bring me some courage and I was very pleased at the results. Megan is caring and talented. She "got me" even though I was dressed in a manner than really didn't reflect my lifestyle and my hair was a disaster after having just received a massage (big Valentine's day splurge). Anyway, she was very attentive and although the salon isn't fancy, it was comfortable and the service was excellent. She did a great cut, the highlights are well done and subtle (not those easy skunk chunks that some stylists like to get away with) and the conditioner left my hair in great shape. I've had the worst luck with this place. I first called because of the Groupon offered but I was looking for a regular place I could feel confident going to regularly. I have two little girls I love to spoil and wanted to have their hair highlighted pink and purple and have my whole head red. Lady on the phone said not to purchase the Groupon that she would honor it when I paid. I asked for full color and a hair cut. When I get there my hairdresser says that she refused to go all red cause of the potential damage to my hair and she wanted to do big highlights and over some appointments get it all red. We went ahead and did it buy she had no time to cut my hair. My eldest daughters hair came out ok but faded completely in a few days and cost the most and had the least coverage. They then refused to honor my groupon. So I make another appointment a few weeks later to get my daughters hair right and get more coverage on mine. First this new hairdresser tells me we could have gone all red and it's more damaging doing partial cause they have to rebleach the already red again causing damage to it instead of doing it all at once requiring no rebleaching, just touch ups. She gets me all excited then after prepping everything tells me she doesn't have enough color and she was told that I was only doing my highlights and remembers me from last time. As an apology she offers to touch up the highlights without covering almost 2 inches of roots for free as an apology for being unprepared. I accept and think to myself I'll leave her a fat tip for being nice. Then I figured we can still cut my hair and my time won't be wasted and I had let the receptionist know I wanted one anyway. After applying the dye she says she is going to require a tip to cover the costs of the dye. Then when I tell her about the cut I want she informs me she doesn't have the right scissors. Then half way threw my head she runs out of dye. We had scheduled another appointment to have everything done right. Then she tryed to trim my hair so basically charging me twice once today and again sat for hair cuts. I asked her to stop. At the end she got really pushy about the tip, actually chased me around and kept asking me for it. When I got upset and refused she said well I have to charge you for what I used, even though she offered it as an apology to begin with. I was going to tip her but I just wanted to pay everything at once once my daughter was done. The aproach she took annoyed the crap out of me and she even went up to the other lady to see what she was charging me for my kid just so she can charge me, get her tip and get out of there. I cant even tell you how uncomfortable I was with her constantly apologizing offering to "fix" it then slowly changing everything she could do for me. It really was the most uncomfortable hair experience of my life. To top it off when she would ask me questions making small talk it was super obvious she wasn't listening to me cause she would be like that's so cute after I said something awful like yeah we got divorced. I would have been fine staring off into space, you dont have to pretend to be interested in me. Its not like i was trying to take advantage of her either, she offered me starbucks and i refused cause i knew the tip in my head was getting smaller with each turn of events and im not a dick. Cherry on the cake was when I said no to paying her cause I didn't like her being so pushy she started crying. Then because all that was happening I walked away paying full price again even though on the phone I was told they would go over the last situation with me. Anyway, I have half pinkish/red hair with long roots but my daughter was happy so that hairdresser got a $20 tip and my kid had a smile. That lady was awesome. Worst experience ever! I'm going to start looking for better places to take my business. Update: girl that was mentioned in this review was named Hanna.. just got a cancelation email for tomorrow's appointment to fix all my complaints... worst customer service ever.. read more

I got my hair done earlier today and am so unhappy. I showed my artist 2 pics one I wanted and the other was because I have dark hair so I wanted to make sure the color didn't turn out funny. Basically my hair didn't turn out right and when I called she sounded quite defensive and said in order to fix it I would need to pay more. After paying over $150 I was shocked and frustrated to hear that i was expected to pay more. I was in tears at this point and had to hang up so I wouldn't say something I regretted when she asked if I wanted to reschedule. I am not going back and am actually going to Paul Mitchell school because I know for a fact they can do what I want, even as students! Very disappointed and very unprofessional. read more

Angela had the PERFECT solution for me...Shellac! I had never heard about it before but absolutely love that there was no dry time, and that the polish stays on for weeks without chipping! Over the last few weeks I had some meetings with Lovanne. I should preface this by saying I did a horrid dye job on myself. It was green/ash/brown/everything, plus so tacky that it was ripping out. Most important to me was that I was embarrassed for having done such a horrible job, but she made me feel comfortable right away. I went to this salon for the first time today. I saw Candace for a haircut and styling. She did a great job on my hair and I am very pleased. She listened to me and also gave me some tips. She was very friendly and I will be coming back to her in the future. I would recommend her to others as well. The salon was clean and well laid out from what I saw. The only tip I would have is for the desk and waiting area. It seemed as if the receptionist could have used a bigger desk. There was someone at the computer when I arrived and when I was paying. Ugh! Worst color I've ever had. Adrianna managed to turn my head pink, purple and greenish when it should have been brown with blond highlights and red low lights. My roots were still showing and the very few blond pieces that didn't turn pink, were brassy. The underneath, which should have been brown was black!!
