Long overdue - Review of Beyond Wax Studio (2021 experience)…read more In April 2021, I scheduled a consultation with professional stylist Kandice Burley at Beyond Wax Studio. I explained I was interested in extensions for my upcoming wedding on April 24th. Because I had previously ordered clip-in extensions from BetterLength Hair with no issues, I specifically asked Kandice to review the company and give me her professional opinion on both the hair quality and which type of extension would be best for my hair type, since I wanted something more permanent this time. Kandice looked over my hair and the BetterLength website, told me the company was fine to order from, and advised that I could do either micro-beads or tape-ins. Based on her professional approval, I proceeded. Unfortunately, the hair from BetterLength was falsely advertised -- it was supposed to be 100% human hair, but it was not -- and micro-beads were not suitable for my hair type. The combination of poor hair quality and the wrong method caused so much damage that I had to cut off my hair following my wedding ceremony, before the reception. When I returned to the salon seeking some kind of resolution, the owner, Teneka, was dismissive, unempathetic, and unprofessional. She told me I should have had my hair done by an "ethnic stylist" (the stylist who worked on me was Caucasian, and I am mixed). At no point was this ever mentioned beforehand, and the comment was both inappropriate and offensive. She also spoke about her own employee, Kandice, in a very unprofessional manner rather than taking responsibility as the owner. She offered no accountability, refused to give me a refund, and when I said I would leave a review, she accused me of "threatening her" and even raised her voice at me. This experience was not only disappointing, it was exhausting and traumatic. I even contacted a lawyer given the severity of what happened, but was unable to receive help. What should have been a joyful preparation for my wedding became a painful and stressful ordeal. The lack of accountability, the refusal to refund, the offensive comment, the unprofessional way she spoke of her own employee, and the hostile response were unacceptable. For these reasons, I cannot recommend Beyond Wax Studio or doing business with Teneka.

Brittany and Carrie checked on us throughout our visit making sure we had everything we needed... At the end of our day we had been pampered head to toe (yes pun included) they truly made our day so special. April's massage was exactly the perfect mix of pressure and strength with relaxation that I needed for my muscles. She's the most calming and warm person I've ever met. 10/10 recommend her. My daughter had an incredible facial by Mary. She was wonderful and so knowledgeable about her hormonal skin. I can't wait to go back next year. They're all so nice and accommodating at Adiva's. I started with a mani/pedi by Tanya she did a fantastic job with the shellac. I think this is the first time I haven't had any smudges or rippling! Next was my full body wax by Rhonda and Nicole. These women worked tandem on me keeping light and enjoyable conversation. I really loved having them both work on me. It made the process go by so quick! They kept a close eye on what was waxed and added soothing creams as needed. I have to take a moment to speak on the stand out work of Rhonda's Brazilian wax she took time to work out ingrown hair and did so with deft hands. I highly recommend her for working on such a sensitive area. Your goods will be in good hands! Finally Nicole finished my day with a lux facial while Rhonda massaged my feet and hands. I have never had much experience with facials so this was an enjoyable experience! My face was left feeling firm and fresh. I love how healthy it looks and feels. I was also treated to snacks and a lunch which were HEAVENLY! I recommend this shop to anyone needing time to feel revitalized.
