First of all I was overcharged on several things. Product, coloring ! Not just a haircut! Why would I need an expert hairdresser to trim my bangs ? You have different prices for different stylists correct? So trimming bangs takes an expert status in your salon? When calling to check on prices why was I told 10.00? Why was I told you would call me on Tuesday and resolve this and now it's Saturday ? So, you are still making things up as you go? Fantastic Sam's sounds better and better these days due to greed of these smaller places , am I right? I had an 80.00 credit which was paid in cash but I can not get any of it back because Oopsie your policies changed? That's called theft when you never inform the client until they make another appt! not policy change! I called other places in the area guess what your prices are not comparable! Such a nice place..Bruce checked me in, made my coffee and made me feel welcome. Hannah did a wonderful job listening and asking questions before ever touching my hair. Wow. Michelle is the best stylist in town. My wife has been seeing her stylist for over 20 years till we moved to Prescott and she had to find a new one. Being Japanese, she is very picky about who works on her hair. She interviewed several stylists before settling on Michelle. Perfect choice! Michelle is easy going and listens intently to everything before beginning and also approaches your first cut conservatively so as not to over cut or cut too short. In a nutshell, my wife is ecstatic with Michelle and her cut! Can't recommend Michelle highly enough. read more

Worst haircut ever in my life :( and the stylist knew it. Tried to play it off but it is HORRIBLE! I'll never ever return. Asked for a simple curtain bang and long layers, brought in 3 photos to show as a guide, she barely glanced at them. I now have uneven bangs and layered hair. I literally could have cut my hair better than The stylist, Hannah Elizabeth. She had no idea what she was doing. I get that stylus can make mistakes, but in that case, at least own up to your error and try to make it right instead of pretending like everything is cool. read more

I had really high hopes for this salon because my favorite salon back home was an Aveda place. But Salon St Martin severely missed the mark. At least in the world of manicures. I paid $22 for a manicure that was no better than something I could have done myself. There was paint all over my cuticles and the sides of my fingers...I couldn't believe when the girl said she was done. I went straight home and took it all off. This was my birthday manicure and it was AWFUL. I can't believe I actually PAID for her to make a mess on my hands. I will never be returning to this salon. read more

Tara, a stylist at this salon was recommended by a friend. I asked Tara specifically to follow the cut of my current style at the beginning of our consultation. I love my current style and wanted to keep it. My objective was to find a local stylist. She proceeded to cut and point out the "deficiencies" of the cut from my last stylist (who I've had for 12 years). When she was done cutting, she styled my hair. I made mention of the under curl that I was now left with and she stated that she wouldn't be able to style in the same direction that I had walked in with and that I would be able to style it the same as I had been used to...???? What? My hair is layered and flips up away from my face, not under toward my face. Needless to say, I called the owner a week later after I wasn't able to style my hair any way that looked good. She made an appointment so that she and Tara, the stylist could be there. The owner was late for the appointment and all Tara could say while waiting for the owner was that she went online to "see how to correct the cut". At this point, I looked to the owner to save the situation...all she could say was "I told her not to say that to you". Yeah, no kidding. Let's tell the freaked out client that we went on line to correct a problem that we should have learned at beauty school or how about learned through years of haircutting experience. This is THE salon to go to in Prescott. Michelle was absolutely amazing! She literally worked a miracle on my hair. She really listened to what I wanted and had the patience and expertise to make my vision a reality, truly blowing my expectations out of the water. And Michelle is just precious to boot. I went to Salon St. Martin last year for my wedding and was incredibly disappointed in every service that I received. Also, I was amazed at the lack of professionalism overall. Hair updo- I did not have a picture of the very simple hairstyle I wanted for my wedding. Despite repeatedly explaining my vision and two practice runs, I never saw what I had envisioned. It was as though the stylist couldn't hear me anymore after she had decided what she was going to do. In some of my wedding photos you can see that I have some strange bumps. I can only assume that she did not bother to fix the bumps because she was in a hurry to get to a coworker's wedding on that same day. My sister had a different stylist for her updo and the stylist told her she wasn't good at updos. Nails: When I called to schedule my services I asked, "Do you do Shellac?" I was told that they did not do Shellac but they did gel overlays, "which is pretty much the same thing," they said. So, the day before my wedding I go in and discover that the "good" gel person is not there because she is getting married the next day. I got a regular pedicure and had to frantically find a place to get the Shellac nails done. I wish they had just told me that they could not do the thing I was asking for when I made the appointments since it was for my wedding- kind of a big deal! Make-up: The person who did my make-up was really sweet but I feel like I could've done a similar look myself. It was not wedding-day worthy. Unprofessionalism: While I was in the salon for one of my many disastrous appointments I overheard a gentleman who had scheduled a massage and the employee just wasn't there to do it. Also, during my hair appointment my stylist was discussing the sensitive topic of abortion with me, which made me very uncomfortable. Overall I was really sorry that I had chosen this salon for any of my services. read more

I really like this salon. I was very pleased with my haircut and overall experience. All of the staff that I have dealt with have been friendly and helpful. They were out of a conditioner that I buy and the manager offered to go over to a different location and pick it up for me while I waited. I made an appointment and told them over the phone that I wanted to go blonde and wanted a good hairstyle/cut. Tara talked me out of "blonde all over" and said she "did not like" to do blonde from the scalp, or all over and preferred to do a weave and blonde up gradually here and there. It cost 98.00 (I paid for a haircut too but did not really get one). I ended up with ORANGE HAIR and if any hair was cut at all (it was "mimicked" but really, I could not tell any was actually cut. I guess that is better than a bad chop job. It looked just the same, except orange. NEVER will I return. About 6 weeks later, after I saved up, I went to a sister salon (LaLa's) and left VERY PLEASED. I will review La La's in just a few minutes. read more

I have had both Joey and Jamie cut my hair. I wanted to go short, and I LOVED the cut Joey originally gave me, and how Jamie maintained it as I wanted to grow it back out. Everyone complimented me. I'm also very sensitive to the smells and noises at most salons. Because this salon uses Aveda products, it smells nice and natural - not like chemicals. They offer you tea when you arrive. They are very prompt about keeping appointments - I'm usually in and out in less than an hour. It's about $40 for a cut. To me, that's pricey, but a good haircut is important, and these are the best stylists I've had in my life! read more

In the end she said that the color wouldn't turn out the way I wanted because of the shade my hair was before. Every experience at this salon is a wonderful one. Laura, the owner, is warm and inviting, bringing you a hot cup of tea to sip while you enjoy your salon service. Erin cuts/colors my hair, and I'm afraid of the day I leave Northern Arizona because I don't know what I'm going to do without her!! She understands my "vision" every time I go in there, and I get CRAZY amounts of compliments on my hair thanks to her. Erin is funny and has a effervescent personality, she's lovely to be around. My boyfriend also goes to Erin exclusively for not only her amazing haircutting skills, but her heavenly scalp/neck massage as she shampoos. :) Andrea is the massage therapist at Salon St. Martin, and I've been to her more times than I can count. She is a superb masseuse and does incredible energy work, reflexology and reiki. As a massage therapist, she is very multifaceted; and kindred spirit would be a perfect way to define her as a person. Salon St. Martin is over a 30 minute drive for me, but it's totally worth it. [Also- I think it's worth mentioning that they donated hair clippings to the Gulf Relief Efforts (hair absorbs the oil after the BP spill), and I love that they're not only a salon that offers the highest quality services, but also a caring, charitable establishment. read more

I went to Salon St. Marin recently for a mani/pedi for my mom and I. It was a late Mother's Day gift. The pedicure chair was old and uncomfortable and the manicure table just had a small uncomfortable bench to sit at. The girls were super nice who did our mani/pedis but were a little unprofessional. They talked to each other the entire time so I was not able to chat with my mom which is want I wanted to do. They were also dressed in tank tops with their bras hanging out. They turned the country radio station on fairly loudly as well. Not exactly relaxing spa-type music. Both my mom and I's nail paint dried with tons of air bubbles and some smudges. I was already unsatisfied with my experience and the worse part is when I went to pay I was charged way more than I was planning. After tip it cost me $140 which is more than I have paid down in the Phoenix area at an upscale salon. I will definitely not be going back! read more
