I recently went to Christy for cut and color and I am so happy that I did it. The cut she gave me makes my thin hair look thicker. The color she gave me compliments my skin tone very well. I can't remember liking my hair this much in a while. The salon is in a part of orcutt that isn't too busy. It's easy to find parking. I like that Christy's space is in the back of the salon and it makes it very quiet and relaxing. After letting my layers grow out for 2 years to get a traditional Bob cut. Since I was a hairstylist for over 40 years I sought a "seasoned" stylist who was also doing hair when Bobs were, (& still are) a classic haircut. I scheduled an appointment with Christy Hord. I shared I was a licensed stylist as well. I printed out and took 4 photos of varied Bobs, including what I did NOT want; as a former stylist & salon owner, I found it helpful to visually see what a client wanted & did not want. When I arrived she stated "she screwed up" and could I wait 35 minutes or reschedule. Knowing what it is like to run behind, I said "no problem"; I should have run out the door right then, but I was very excited about my new look. After a limp shampoo in which my nape never even got lifted off the bowl, let alone wet. We had a lengthy chat & settled on one of the Bob cut photos so I could either blow dry it or use my mild natural wave as I have carpel tunnel. Without a doubt, I KNOW how bob is cut and my heart sank when she began holding my layers straight up & cutting-this means layers. withheld commenting out of respect as a stylist, but when she began scrunching my hair dry, not using a round brush to smooth into a bob, I began to panic. I was in such shock when my entire head was layered & barely reached the bottom of my ears! All I could do was hand her cash & run out before I fell apart. I had a short pixie cut; longer by 3/4 of an inch on one side and extremely layered-Nothing resembling a classic bob. I took a photo, tears & all & included it with a letter asking why, if she did not know how to cut a Bob, didn't she just tell me? I asked her " where did the communication breakdown" because as a professional myself, that is the key to any great cut. Christy did not even give me the professional courtesy of apologizing nor give me ANY explanation whatsoever. I did ask for a refund but she wanted me to come back to the salon to get it. NO Way. She finally mailed it. I regret having to say this, as I truly respected & loved my career, but I would never refer anyone to Christy Hord. If nothing else, maybe Christy could find humility in this situation. IN the meantime I wear hats a lot & will have to wait 2 more years for a Bob cut that even the most inexperienced stylists know how to cut. Very sad & not an experience I would wish on anyone. read more
