I requested to leave enough hair for a ponytail, just wanted my ends trimmed but was left with barely shoulder length hair and choppy uneven layers. I had hair to my shoulder blades before. The stylist wanted to thin my thick hair with special shears and I said no but she did it anyway. Color was excellent but I am horrified and embarrassed by my cut. I have ethnic (Greek) hair, but I've always longed for caramel/darker blonde highlights. A difficult feat for someone with super dark hair. I had my hair done by Alexis years ago, but lost touch after a few moves and life events. When I found out she has been at Eikon in Wexford, I immediately booked her. The salon itself is beautiful, and everyone (from the receptionist to each stylist) is so kind. One thing I noticed was that every single person who left looked genuinely happy with their hair. I showed Alexis the picture I pulled up on Pinterest and she made my hair look exactly. like. the. picture. Caramel highlights without damaging my hair. In fact, after a tiny trim, my hair was actually healthier when I left her chair. Cannot say enough good about Alexis and the entire salon.

Before we get into it, there are two things you need to know: First, I actually went to Eikon over…read morethe summer, but based on the fact that I'm still suffering from the experience I had there, I decided I should share. Second, I have had my hair bleached ombre before and although there was a little damage, it was nothing even close to this experience I've had this time around. I went in to see Heather. She cut my hair which turned out nicely and a week later I went back for colour. I wanted that lavender/grey ombre look that was pretty big over the summer. I will say that she did an excellent job PLACING the bleach - it fades really well and so if you are going for a mild bleach job, then maybe this is the place for you. However, I have medium brown hair and to achieve a pastel color, you need to bleach your hair to a platinum white blonde which is a part of the problem. Since my appointment there, I learned through online research and asking other stylists that you shouldn't bleach for longer than about 45 minutes in one sitting. If you bleach for 45 minutes and the color still isn't lifted enough, you're supposed to send the client home and have them return in two weeks so their hair can recover a bit. Not with Heather. Oh no, she had me in that chair for a full hour and when it still wasn't light enough, she reapplied the bleach for ANOTHER HOUR. She bleached my hair for two hours straight. And it still wasn't totally platinum! I know brown hair is hard to bleach to platinum, but I have spent the past several months wracking my brain to figure out why she didn't take any measures to preserve the health of my hair as much as possible? Why didn't she send me home? Or maybe suggest a deep condition before bleaching again? How was I to know 2 hours is a long time to bleach? Other hairdressers have been known to flat out refuse to continue, because the damage is not always worth the look. I trust the hairdresser to be educated enough to make such a judgement, but she made no judgement. When she finished she gave it a cute blowout so I was happy, but after my first shower, my hair wasn't just dry. It was ELASTIC. It stretched about an inch and was impossible to run a comb through for months. Immediately after the bleaching I had a rat tail from hair that just burned right off. The rat tail is now significantly bigger - pretty much it's own short layer now because the hair is so dry it knots up and rips out no matter how much I condition it. My hair is a frizzy, dry, miserable mess and I now have to cut it off. It took 5 months just for the stretching to stop. It still falls out in chunks. I want to cry every time I look at the ends because it used to be so long and wavy and beautiful and now I look like a tortured barbie doll. I know I was asking for an edgy color job, but I just don't know how it could get this bad. So that's my story: after 4 hours in the chair and a whopping $240 after tip, my long, beautiful wavy hair has been turned into a frizzy, stretchy, tangly nightmare and now I have to cut it all off. After months of conditioning and babying, I just can't stand it anymore. As I said before, I know bleach causes damage and I don't want to be unrealistic, but I have seen others with darker hair than even mine succeed at the color I wanted. I put my trust in Heather as the "expert" and that was clearly a mistake that I'm still paying for.

The cuts were okay. After finally getting a raise at work and not having gotten my hair done in months due to Covid 19 shutting down all salons, I was desperate to get my hair done. I've been a platinum blond for over 20 years and had no intentions of not being one anymore. I ended up making an appointment with Brittany who could fit me in sooner than owner Jimmy. The girl who made the appointment said Brittany was good with blonds and recommended her. Having walked in with platinum hair, but large roots, I made it VERY clear that I wanted a very light blond color. Bright, light blond. I said no yellow and no orange. After getting home, taking my mask off and getting a good look in my bathroom mirror I was beyond shocked. I wasn't blond at all!! My hair was brown. And an ugly brown at that. I called immediately and asked the girl to please have Jimmy call me as soon as he could. I was in tears when I told the receptionist that my hair wasn't blond at all and looked brown. The owner Jimmy called back hours later and had a nasty attitude from the start. He refused to fix it or even let me come in so he could look at it. I was speechless. Then he told me to find another salon. He added that he saw it while I was there and it looked 'damn blond' to him. He then proceeded to tell me that it was my fault because my roots were huge (All salons were shut down for months due to Covid 19, so that was certainly out of my control). Then he told me to wash it a bunch of times over the next week and it would lighten up. Jimmy even said that I 'always had a problem' and complained about his coloring of my hair in the past. That was a complete lie. I never complained to him about a service. I had ALWAYS been super nice and cool when I had gone there and always tipped 30%. I even bought products there instead of going 100 feet up the street to Ulta and using a coupon for the same stuff. Jimmy had every excuse in the book to avoid accepting responsibility for what his stylist did. He even went as far to say that he and Brittany were the two best stylists in the city and Headspace was the best salon in the city. I took pictures of the mess Brittany created and sent them to the owner of another salon I know. Unfortunately, her salon was still closed or else I would have gone to her from the start. She agreed that my hair was not blond at all. She called it bronze. She advised me to file a dispute with my credit card since he refused to fix it. I filed the dispute and lost because the charge was found to be valid and PNC is powerless to continue to fight the salon because it's a 'quality' of service issue. They advised to file against the salon in small claims court. So the salon gets to keep $300 for a sloppy cut and orange brown color. Stay away from this salon. Any owner that is so cocky to talk to a client like they're garbage and refuse to fix a clients hair is not worth people's hard earned money. He can keep the $300. He obviously needs it more than I do. If you're looking for a great salon with a talented stylist, go to Lavish and ask for Amanda. She is the owner and fixed my hair the best she could do with out causing more damage to my hair. She said getting me back to platinum will take time to protect the integrity of my hair which I understand and appreciate She was incredibly cool and understanding and did a beautiful job. Update - It's a waste of my time to respond to the litany of excuses posted by owner. The pictures speak for themselves. Save your money an go elsewhere.
