I've brought my niece here twice and I received services for the first time this week. Walking into the salon, a flight of stairs greet you. They are narrow but once you get up them, you are greeted by friendly faces. You will be asked to wash your hands first and have a seat. The wait can vary. I waited for about 15 minutes and then my stylist, Jo, began to wash my hair. She was very detailed and knowledgeable about my hair. She also informed me that they did every style I could think of at the salon. Once my hair was washed, I received a hot oil treatment. Once the treatment was completed, my hair was soft and felt super healthy. Jo moisturized my hair and braided it. My hair was done in under two hours and as a black woman who has been in MANY salons on a regular basis, that is a short amount of time. Jo also did my niece's hair as well and it took an hour and a half. The first time my niece was serviced here, she was served my Rochelle and her hair came out nicely and she was out in 90 minutes as well. Go see Jo and Rochelle!

For those who don't know how to find her (I got lost and asked for directions from a stranger I ran into- apparently many people have issues finding the salon), she is located in the "Salon Plaza". Use the elevator in building 2970 (LA fitness/Chelsea school building) to get to the elevator. Go to the 2nd floor, come out, make a left, and go down the long hallway until you get to the parking garage. Then walk around to your right (you should pass the up hill garage entrance) and you'll see the entrance to Salon Plaza. Andrea was so attentive and nice. She has a room to herself where she provides her hair services. It was peaceful, I felt like my hair was given the attention it needed, and I left with a beautiful sew-in. She is fantastic!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience…read more I actually went to Andrea years ago and stopped using her because of her poor customer service. I decided to give her another chance, hoping things had improved. Unfortunately, they had not. I paid for a sew-in installation and within a two days noticed that the top was very bumpy, uneven, and not laying flat. The issue was obvious in photos and noticeable enough that others commented on it. I reached out promptly, sent pictures, and politely asked if she could fix it. Rather than taking accountability or offering a solution, she acknowledged the issue by telling me the wefts were thick. As the professional, if the hair was going to create a bulky or uneven result, that should have been communicated before completing the service. At no point was I advised that the finished product would look the way it did. When I asked if it could be fixed, I was ignored. After following up, I was met with a dismissive response about not discussing work on her days off and was told she would revisit the issue the next day. She never followed up, never offered a correction, and never attempted to make the situation right. The most disappointing part wasn't even the hair--it was the customer service. Mistakes happen, but professionalism is demonstrated by how you handle them. Instead of addressing a legitimate concern from a paying customer, I was left feeling dismissed and ignored. Because the issue was never resolved, I had to pay an additional $190 to another stylist to remove and redo the installation (@sheweaves). She installed the exact same hair and my install is SUPER flat. I gave this business a second chance despite my previous concerns about customer service, and unfortunately the experience confirmed why I stopped going in the first place. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this stylist and will be filing complaints with the appropriate consumer protection agencies regarding the handling of this matter.

The first time I booked was ok, I had to wait 25 minutes for the stylist but she did a decent braid down (that's the only reason they are getting 2 stars). The second time I booked for 8am another client came in and stated "I am a faithful client I come biweekly this time for 10 years". Mind you she didn't book an appointment. The stylist told me to wait and she would be quick. I waited about 20 minutes and she was only finished washing her hair. I realized how ridiculous that was and left, haven't been back since. Stop telling people to book online if you won't honor it.

The…read morefirst thing that I loved even before walking in the salon was that she was excellent with communication and super friendly. When I came to the salon it felt like being at home; the music was relaxing, the ambiance was great, and the salon was super clean and up kept. As for the hair styling process, I came by for a press and curl and like the previous reviewer, I'm from California as well and I was kinda scared about getting my hair pressed being natural. However, Ngozi walked me through the whole process and assured me what products she would be using and how they would affect my hair. In no way whatsoever was she pushy like some other stylists can be when giving suggestions and she really made me feel comfortable with all the options she provided. Overall, I would say that if you want a real professional stylist and place that feels comfortable and feels just like home I definitely recommend Studio de Beaute. Also if you're a natural, this is THE spot to come to for all natural products and a great press and curl.

I walked in to check out their services. Melanie, a very professional and friendly stylist greeted me and offered to see me same-day for a blowout. I have natural hair and have been struggling to figure out what to do with it. I sit on the fence about wearing it out naturally versus doing a blowout because I simply don't know how to style it naturally and it takes too long for me to blow out my hair. During the appointment, Melanie educated me on styling products for my hair type and style type (natural with curls out, twists, blown-out, sew-in, protective styles). As someone who is not well-versed in natural hair care, it was a breath of fresh air to learn so much in a short period of time. The wash/deep conditioning/blow-dry/styling took just a little over an hour and change--I couldn't believe it--I have never been able to do my hair in under 2 hours! I'm already scheduled for a follow-up appointment. My appointment was actually over a week ago and my hair is still soft, straight and neither feels oily nor dry. I'm excited about my next appointment and about learning how to care for my hair. I highly recommend this salon especially for anyone in the DC/PG County/Northern VA area.
