Visiting this salon was a big mistake. Hello! I feel I should warn you about Connor Moore. I was lured in by his photos. I left the appointment wondering if I just paid him $1,500 to practice on my hair. The whole experience was unprofessional. 1. It took him nearly seven hours (and several more in two "fix it" appointments) to do what it takes other stylists 2.5 to 3 hours to do. 2. He didn't know how order enough extension hair. See photo. At the end of my appointment, I had to pay for more than he quoted me and come back for another appointment to add the rest. 3. The extensions started coming loose the next day. He tried to fix it. Then they came loose almost immediately again. He tried to fix it. Then again. You can see the sloppy work he did in the photo. 4. He left ugly strings in my hair. See photo. I asked him to cut them. He told me he couldn't because the whole weft would fall out. He tried telling me they blended perfectly! Later, at the hairstylist I went to to fix his mistakes, she cut them immediately. 5. Even though I'd asked him never to let assistants do his work (I'd had a bad experience before), he let two students color roots onto my extensions. Not only did he not respect my request, they colored many shades too dark, ruining my brand new, expensive extensions. 6. He tried twice to match my natural hair to my extensions as promised, but with no success. He finally did it on the third try, but when I got home, I noticed my hair was terribly damaged and fried. See photo. 7. The extension length of the shorter one is strange and noticeable. 8. I got an irritated bald spot. My new hairstylist told me he put too much weight on my fine hair in the corner. She fixed it to a hybrid method and it's much better. I paid Connor $1,500. After trying to let him fix things and him being unable to, I had to pay hundreds on top of that to a new hairstylist to fix his mistakes. The most disappointing part of the whole experience with Connor was how he handled my deserved refund request. I have never asked for a refund for a hair treatment in my life. When I wrote to Connor asking for one, he castigated me and then dismissed me. He said it was my fault. I've had extensions for years and know how to take care of them. This has never happened. And how can the frying my hair, having girls color my hair, not ordering enough hair, taking over double the time it takes other stylists, etc., be my fault? He wouldn't respond to that. The pictures speak for his work. I also wrote to Diane and Jeff, owners of Salon Platinum. I know they try to push off bad reviews and ask people to delete them and write them on the hairstylists' pages only, but as hairstylists are contractors hired by them, they have an accountability level. Connor represents their salon. If they care about their salon name and reputation, they need to know what's going on in their salon and do what they can to rectify any bad service. They should be more concerned with who they hire and the satisfaction of their clientele if they wish for their salon to have a good reputation. I wrote to them in the hopes they would, as players with a stake in this, guide Connor to make the right decision and offer a refund for services not rendered to salon standard, but they have not responded, so I must write here. I wish the experience didn't come to this, but I feel the need to give others a heads up. I hope this helps! read more

I cannot even begin to talk about the amazing experience I had at this salon and with Cristina Hilliard as my stylist! I noticed that there was a negative review regarding her services on here and I just couldn't believe it. It's ironic that the person posting did not include a picture of the supposed "botched" job, so I was more than happy to post my before and after pictures as proof of her amazing work! First, I'll review the salon. It is a huge open space with many stations, everything is so clean, and all the stylists I was able to speak with were so nice and welcoming. The bathrooms were clean, and I absolutely loved the glitter floors! Cristina offered me water, tea, or coffee while I waited for my hair to color which is always a nice gesture. Now on to Cristina. Not only is she gorgeous and sweet, she is amazing at cutting hair! I have curly hair, so I am VERY picky about who I go to and who cuts it. I cannot tell you the amount of times my hair has been cut too short because people simply don't understand how to cut curly hair. She gave me a quick consultation where we were able to talk about what I want from my hair and what is actually possible. We found a middle ground, and covered up my grey, then added a red tint during the washing process to achieve the look I wanted. She took the time to explain everything to me in detail so I knew exactly what she was doing and what the plan was. This honestly was the best hair cutting experience I've ever had and I could not believe how straight she was able to get my hair. Jeff Wacker is the most professional, hip, fun, and knowledgable artist of hair I've ever worked with. Very few stylists understand my hair. After bouncing around between a few hair dressers I found Jessi Guenther, who was a referral from my best friend. Like most girls, I had my hair ombre for over five years. For the last two years, Jessi had been maintaining the style and a basic cut (my hair was very long so all I ever really needed was a trim). This last summer, Jessi really showcased her talent on my locks. We cut 10" off. It was a bold move and I honestly can't believe I'm not missing my long hair AT ALL. I saw the reviews on Yelp and decided to give this place a call. I was referred to Jenn and given her number. I told her about my hair and she asked for pictures of my current hair and pictures of my goals. I knew that they might not be realistic, but I told her I was flexible and open to suggestions on tones and levels. She immediately stopped texting me back. That is such a horrible feeling. If you don't have the skill set to achieve something you should at the very least refer out to someone who does. If you do have the skill set, but do not think it is achievable, you should offer other suggestions on something that is more realistic. The job of a hairstylist is to literally communicate with the client and come up with a plan that both of you agree on. read more

I work in Aliso Viejo but live about an hour away so the only time I could come in was after work around 6:00PM on a Wednesday. Alexis was kind enough to accommodate me and was fantastic throughout the session. Her family's had the business for over 20 years so she really knows what she's talking about. First thing she'll ask is if you've colored your hair before, because it affects the strength of bleach she uses and she wants to make sure she keeps the integrity of your hair intact and avoid causing any damage to it. This was the first time I colored my hair purple so I asked her a ton of questions about color maintenance and hair care. She was friendly in answering everything and even gave me a mini science breakdown of the different dyes and what peroxide actually does to hair. My inner science nerd was totally geeking out over that. Overall Alexis was attentive, thorough, pleasant to talk to and she truly cares about the quality of her work. Coloring my hair took 3.5 hours to do so be prepared to shell out a few hundos but for the time and care Alexis puts in it's well worth the $$. She did a great job I love how my hair turned out.
