At her old work place, I once went there and she was on vacation in Vietnam and I made the mistake of not waiting for her!!! Some other lady messed up my hair so bad. Anyway my point is she will do what you want and she will remember you! I've been going to her for years and it's always nice seeing her time and time again. Even though I don't cut my hair much. This is my 200th review, and my favorite barber shop hands down takes the cake! I actually thought I might be the first to share the love but it looks like other people know this secret too. I've been to the old school, dusty red and white striped barber shops with dusty tootsie rolls. I've been to the 6 dollar Chinese barber shops with fish tanks and oranges. I've also been to the ass-expensive, individual tv-screen, complimentary beer, essence-of-bees-and-fairies face wash, tattooed hipster barbershops. In the end, this is the only place that I look forward to coming to, that I will drive 20 minutes from Irvine to go to just for a 15 minute haircut. It's located in a plaza with a variety of Vietnamese and middle eastern food stores. There are plastic chairs outside for various smokers and haircutters to hang out and a simple store with a full force of female Vietnamese barbers. There are a couple of guys here too, and apparently John is great at cutting girl's hair. Most of the girls here are amazing at their job and unless you have some crazy froufrou hair that needs moose gel to hold it in place they'll cut your hair just fine. I don't speak a lick of Vietnamese other than "pho bac" but I usually get by with hand motions and broken English. For $10, they will give you a fantastic haircut, wash your hair before and afterward and give you a great head massage as well. Sometimes the head massage turns into a neck and shoulder massage and one time that turned into a 5 minute full blown back massage. But that's a whole 'nother story. Every time I come here I get so relaxed I just want to take a nap. And the icing on the cake? This is right across the street from Brodard's where I unfailingly always end up at. read more

It took me a while to grow out my hair and by the end of the night I could of just spiked up my hair like those high school days... I showed the lady how I wanted my haircut and when she kept nodding "yah yah yah" I was thinking ok cool, she understands but during my haircut I asked her how her day was, and she nodded "yah yah yah" again, I was like damn, I am freaking screwed! She listens and does what you want and I appreciate that because most stylists don't listen and I hate that. Amazing place - and very, very affordable! I have been coming here for years (since I was a teenager) with my family and have never had a bad experience. They've cut my long hair, my mom's shoulder length, my dad's short hair, and my brother's surfer hair fantastically so you know all the stylists have good range. Full Vietnamese staff who speak Vietnamese with each other, but we've never felt unwelcome or awkward. My dad is Chinese and my mom white, thus my brother and I are mixed. As I said, they are really friendly and professional to everyone and have great styling range (from straight, shiny, thin hair to thick, curly, frizzy hair). For a woman with long hair you will get a wash, scalp massage, hair cut of your choice, blow-dry and style for about $25!!! Amazing and just give them a nice tip for the excellent work they do. The only thing you will NOT get is a bad haircut, complimentary drink, and frou frou decor - who cares! I'd rather keep my money and save it for other things than pay for the "pampering" of pricier joints. If you get thirsty you can go next door and buy a drink for 75 cents. I've never had to wait more than 15 mins to get my hair done while simply walking in. Never made an appointment here in my life. Neither has my family. If you are picky about your stylist you can always call ahead, but I don't mind waiting a bit. They have so many people working that you'll likely get seated the moment you walk through the door. I have also had my hair highlighted here and they do an amazing job for a really great price. They have a booklet you can choose colors from. In addition, I've also gotten my hair chemically straightened to perfection, as well as deep conditioned. Each time the results were great! If I had to give tips to newcomers I'd say just bring in a photo for reference - if you are new the linguistic gap might make problems for trickier cuts - and request a bit less off than you really want (so if you want to trim an inch, ask for a half inch instead) since some can be a bit scissor happy. Don't be afraid to tell them how you want it done - they just want you to be happy with the results. My stylist Nhi is amazing; you'll recognize her from her long, straight black hair. I came here for 3 reason: 1) price 2) so close to home 3) reviews My hair often gets really thick so I would have to thin them out very frequently. I found this place from yelp so decided to give it a try I came at 10am, just right when they open- got seated by MY and she thoroughly washed my hair with a great massage! Haircut- thinned out how I like it! She doesn't judge like other places who can't believe how much I'm thinning out my hair. It's my hair, trust me I know how unmanageable it gets! My- she is very friendly, listens to what you want, tells you what she will do next to see if you are okay with it and very sociable! The only thing about her is that, she wants everyone seated so they don't leave. She kept going back and forth.. But I mean as a stylist, she is great. Her use of scissor seems good as well. TIP- go early in the morning right when they open to avoid any conflict appointments or busy hour of people coming in. Co My and Chu Dung are super nice and do an amazing job together! I came in looking to get my tips dyed a burgundy-brown shade, showing Co My pictures of the kind of style I wanted. She talked to me about how she could make it better by incorporating an ombre and it ended up looking even better than I expected! I got my hair trimmed (2 inches), bleached, dyed, and curled, which took about 3 hours. We went an hour after closing time and I felt guilty, so I offered to do the styling at home the next morning (I had a photoshoot at school). But Co My and Chu Dung were still willing to finish what they started and the finished product was outstanding! They charge $120-140 for the whole process, which is really cheap! I know prices hit $200 and above at other places, so this was a steal. The quality and the care that Co My and Chu Dung have for their customers are extraordinary. I've been with Co My for 7 years and have always come back to get my hair cut and styled. They're awesome, but just make sure you make an appointment if you're going for more than a cut/trim to ensure enough time. read more

My experience with My Le has always been great. She does my hair exactly the way I want it and at such a good price. I pay $12-$15 and have waist length hair! That includes the wash/shampoo and cut! These prices cannot be beat. My is always willing to do whatever it takes to make her clients happy. She is very kind and I love requesting her! Go to Salon One and request her or her husband! So the place has changed hands and I got my hair cut by Myle after reading all the good reviews. My hair looks okay--maybe a little bit TOO texturized, but otherwise it's hair and it'll grow back. I didn't appreciate the service on a Saturday morning. I had an appointment, but Myle was running late, which was understandable to a certain degree. What was unprofessional was the fact that she would have other stylist shampoo her clients and seat them so that nobody could get away. So..Myle went back and forth from person to person to cut and color hair, etc.. It was a very strange assembly line and I did not leave my seat till 1.5 hours after sitting down. Most the sitting was WAITING; so I probably had 20 minutes of service on my hair...just for a haircut. I will probably go back for the other stylists who used to work with Holly. As for Myle, she and her husband seem nice, but maybe they are new to this salon ownership and need to learn how to run a business better--AKA: not overbooking themselves! read more

I went in here a couple of weeks ago after reading good reviews here, and was very happy. All Vietnamese staff and it appeared that all customers were also Vietnamese. I came without an appointment but was taken in immediately even though they were very busy. Very friendly people there and I did not feel awkward even though I was the only non-asian person in the place. My stylist took her time with me and did a great job. My did a great job with my one year old. I love how she cut his hair with scissors n not just with the shreader (which causes quick split ends). She evened out the back with abuzzer and is a true professional. I can tell by her technique that she's a pro. I'm very happy with her and plan on my son being a regular.
