"Everything old is new again!" --song lyric The old Hairem II Salon in Williamsburg Downs is now the Salon on Central with new owners, Matt & Bodi! The old gal is getting a make-over: her walls are being painted, pedicure chairs have come out of back rooms and into the nail salon area, and a welcoming new coffee/lounge area has been added to the front of the shop. Out of the 50s and into the second decade of the "new millennium." Yay!!! I've always liked this laid-back neighborhood salon and its friendly cast of characters. And now, I like it even more. Chief among my favorites is Eileen, the Perfectionist Nail Tech. Not only will she do a great job on your nails, but she's full of ideas and suggestions, even took time to experiment with a couple of different shades of polish to see which one was most flattering to my skin tone. My French mani lasted an extra day; my French pedi lasted nearly four weeks! Amy, another nail tech, is said to give fabulous facials and of course you can still get a great haircut & style etc., from Matt & Co.! Salon on Central is still a work in progress, but so far, so good! read more

Another great experience at Salon On Central. The salon is very clean and the service is great and it's very affordable. It is in Williamsburg Plaza and is toward the right side as you face the entire plaza. Joe was very nice and did a great job in cutting my hair. Would recommend this to family and friends! read more

Amy did a terrible job on my nails. I had to remove all of the acrylics a week later because moisture was trapped underneath & green discoloration started appearing. I had my nails done here once before & they were excellent, though not with Amy. I also had a haircut here & it was great. Too bad I'll probably never return. read more

I gave this place several tries and it's just not gonna work for me. The first stylist I got was totally unfriendly. I'm not looking for chit chat but I'm also not really keen on getting a death glare the whole time you're cutting my hair. So I tired someone else. Got a few bang trims. Should've known better when she missed a spot one time and I had to fix it myself. Tried a whole haircut. Showed a picture. Just wanted to go from all one length to layers. Layers were basically invisible. So much so that when I went back to try again, she was like, "oh, you want it all one length again?" So I said one more shot and scheduled a cut and blow dry (admittedly, I'm typically too cheap for the blow out. I have a blow dryer at home). I show up and the receptionist looks at me and is like , "Oh, I thought you had short hair." Nope. Turns out, my stylist can't blow dry long hair. Which I was not told on the phone. I was apparently just supposed to know this. So I said fine, we'll skip the blow out. Told her, MORE LAYERS. Got one more layer. Totally done. It is cheap though so if you just want the most basic haircut imaginable you're probably good to go. read more

We came here from the Rosen Shingle Creek resort because they had no appointments available in their spa. This salon was close, affordable, quick, and very friendly. Nails, shampoo and blow dry were like visiting your neighborhood salon. Highly recommended for visitors who don't want to deal with resort spa availability or prices. Thank you! read more

I have been trying to find a good stylist around the orlando area for about a year now and after viewing the positive yelp reviews I gave salon on central a try. I hate to give them such a negative review because overall the staff was very friendly and the prices were more affordable than most. I visited the salon looking for highlights and a cut. I have naturally blonde hair so usually its hard to mess up highlights in my hair because they look natural no matter what you do to do it. I have never had to go back into a salon to get my hair fixed until now. The haircut was average I asked for about two inches off and matt, my stylist took about three and a half, which is fine because it needed a good chop anyways but the highlights were atrocious. I left the salon not being the type to complain, thinking after I washed an styled it myself it would fall into place but I was wrong. The highlights were set about an inch away from my roots and under the top layer they were angled a strange way and no where close to my roots. It was as if I let my hair grow out for about a month or so. I called and they offered for me to come in the next day to fix it at no cost which I really appreciated. I went back and showed matt what I was unhappy with and he tried to explain that he angles the highlights for a reason, but I didn't pay the amount of money I did for my roots to not be touched up and have a strange unnatural gradient. He put more foils in closer to my roots and it's blonder now but definitely does not look better. There is still a lot of noticeable space between the highlight and root and now the highlights are extremely uneaven on the underside of my hair. Needless to say I will not be returning to salon on central. read more

It was my second visit yesterday. I went there just for highlights 2 months ago I had one girl Jennifer do my hair, she was very nice and did a good job. This is why I went back. I really think she is wasting her time working in this salon. Yesterday I had same job done with different person, because stylist Jennifer wasn't there. One of the owners charged me 20% more, just touchup, partial highlights for exactly same job! At first I wasn't happy with the job. All roots are still there and second I think a good salon wants to keep customers happy and to come back. I was there one and half hour yesterday, there were a couple of retired customers, and nobody in the salon to offer them even water. If they charge prices like Dr.Phillips they should provide service too. I will not be returning to Salon on Central. read more

I would not recommend Nail Salon at Williamsburg Plaza at Central Florida Pkwy. They did a terrible job on my nails. She cut my skin close to the nail,when she was using the machine to make even up the gel I was screaming more than one time I felt like she was cutting my nails to the skin and burning my skin around the nail, after that my nails looked totally damage. She had to redo more than one time her work, at the end was not looking professional very messy like something I can do at home, I had nail polish around my nails. the nails were not smooth, she left threats of cotton. After calling a couple of beauty parlors to make sure they did hairdos because I was in a wedding party, and I am from out of town, I ended up in this salon. Huge mistake!! The hairdo was a simple braid tide on the back of the hair with the rest of the hair in loose curls (Half a pony tail style) I finished up with the most ridiculous hairdo, (unfortunately I was so upset that I didn't take pictures , and I needed to get to the wedding). I kept on letting the hairdresser (Tina or Tresha was her name) that what she was doing had nothing to do with the picture I brought and she kept arguing with me that it was going to work out just like the picture which by the way did not even come close. Meanwhile the owner Matthew which was there standing by, listening and being aware of my distress did not even move a finger to come close to see what he could do. (At the time I didn't know, he was the owner), and I was crunched for time to go somewhere else. So to make a long story short, they charge me more than what I was quoted over the phone (which I would have paid happily if they would have done an even decent job), they burned my extensions that by the way were very expensive and I came out with dreads and the most awful hairdo which I had to fix somehow because It was ridiculous and the wedding was 30 minutes away. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture because I was besides myself and I was running late (I told her specifically at what time I needed to leave and yes I got to the appointment on time). So do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!! Save yourself the money and most of all the aggravation. PS: Today I called the owner Matthew which at the time I didn't know was the owner until today and instead of owning to the disaster, he decided to argue with me, and to say that I said that the hairdo was perfect and no, I wasn't asking for a refund I just wanted to make the owners aware of what had happened. read more

For those who need a stylist for any occasion to a date or just for you he is your guy. I highly recommend him and the other stylists that work in salon on central. If there 're zero star we gonna give to your business....My husband went there on Wednesday Dec 21,2016 to do the hair cut with Joe but he 's not there and they said pls.come back on Saturday ,Joe 'll free on that day no appointment... So today my husband went there again ....but the lady ( at the counter) said Joe is busy all day no time to cut your hair...... She's very mean ,no service mind at all ...she 's only say no...no...no. no recommendation how he gonna do ...we came in to give you the money not hair cut for free how she acted like that ...We think if she still work here it's not more longer for this business ...good luck for the owner ...you have the best receptionist in the world read more
