I am VERY particular about my hair and have been reluctant to try a different stylist from my one at home in California. I booked an appointment a week out for a partial foil and a haircut with Salon Modello's stylist Sarah. Sunday the 23rd I receive a text to confirm my appt for Tuesday 25th @1pm which I confirmed & received a thank you text for doing so. On the morning of my appt at 10:07 a.m., I receive an appt. reminder with a "see you soon" ending. After all that I receive a call that my appt is now scratched last minute after a week's wait & several appt confirmations & reminders, so Sarah can "accommodate her current clientele!" This is beyond unprofessional! I should be getting in my car to head to my appt but instead am here writing a negative review. Sarah & management, you/she should not be on the online appointment schedule if you're not taking clients in order to accommodate your current books. You should not send multiple appointment confirmations and reminders, including the day of if you have no professional intentions of keeping your appointments. Sarah is unprofessional and I would advise against seeking out any service she provides. 0 stars for Sarah & Salon Modello. It's such a shame as I just moved to Atlanta and was looking for a new hairstylist. I guess I'd give the one star to the polite receptionist that has the unfortunate task of letting Sarah's appt's know she's a flake. I just moved to Atlanta and desperately needed to get my roots touched up before I started working my first real, adult job. I got my hair highlighted a couple months ago at an Ulta Salon, and boy was that a disaster! So I scheduled an appointment with Jessica in hope that she could fix my dry, damaged, root-showing mop. I trusted her knowing she has 10+ years of experience! Jessica did a full highlight on my hair with foils, used a glaze to tone down the yellowness, and a cut to turn my "Mom hair" into a cute lob! I was there about 3 hours, which is usually how long it takes for a highlight and cut. My hair looks so much better and healthier now! She added some texture to the ends so they don't feel as dry and heavy. My roots are gone now and my color overall looks more blonde and beautiful. Parking wasn't an issue - I parked across the streets and there were several spots at 9 AM. I was treated to a complementary glass of lemon infused water, which was a nice touch. All in all, I had a great experience getting my hair cut and highlighted by Jessica and would recommend her and Salon Modello to anyone! read more

They do not have an online portal to report a problem so here I am at Yelp. I have never missed an appointment with them, I started going there in August/Sept 2018. Never been there before that. I usually get a reminder text or call from them ON MY CURRENT NUMBER. Today I find a random charge for 105 dollars from them on my card, so I call to inquire about this. They tell me my appointment was scheduled for today and not April 12th as I had requested( this was confirmed while I was standing there at the end of my last appointment that indeed my appointment was April 12). I have no problem with no show fee and like that it can reduce flakiness. But we are talking about getting no reminder calls, texts or emails and then being told that the number on file is wrong when I​ informed the person that has not been my number in 4 years, I am being told well that's what we have. I have only started going to this salon in 2018 so lets not even talk about how ridiculously creepy it is that they have decided to dig out a number that I used 4 years ago to put on my profile, I sure as hell didn't give them my old number from 4 years ago and how in the world was I getting reminder texts till last month and all of a sudden my number is changed on my profile? They inform me that unless I have written proof from them that my appointment was for 12th they wouldn't take the charge off, so what about you guys fucking up stealing data from an outdated source, overriding my current number? How about some accountability. if you value 100 bucks ONE TIME income over a continued financial relationship where I have spent upwards of 200-300 dollars + tip every 4-6 weeks then it really shows the level of intellect that goes into running a business into the ground. What they did is clearly fraud and I will be filing a report with my credit card company, I will not pay for Salon Modello being stupid enough to steal outdated data of their customers. I realized I totally forgot to give this place and my stylist, Leah, an amazing review!!! I came here a couple months ago to get a full balayage. I had virgin hair and wanted to try something completely different so I booked with Leah to get my hair colored a bit lighter. They were welcoming and gave me drink options as I got settled in. I waited about 10-15 mins before she started working on me. I love that Leah took her time to discuss with me about what I wanted to do, how it's done, and walking me through the process. The whole process took about 2.5 hrs which is long but she was so gentle and caring with my hair that I wanted to take a nap! Here's my review for my first haircut with Leah at Salon Modello from their other site. I really appreciate the time Leah took on my hair! She cut my hair the way I would cut my hair if I knew wtf I was doing. She was meticulous and I feel like she had a great eye for what would work with my hair texture and face shape. I went from long hair to a bob right above my shoulder and it's perfect. No flippy parts and it falls just right without a ton of product or styling. This is my first haircut in a long time where I left feeling 100% happy and not scared of what it'd look like after I washed out the professional styling products... I feel like I got a great deal for the price and will absolutely be back. Thanks, Leah! :) I feel the same way after my second visit! Leah takes her time and made sure I was happy with everything before I left. I asked for some product recommendations and I appreciated that she had some without seeming pushy or preachy about my use of cheap shampoo! I really wanted to find my new hair stylist love when I made my appointment with Aaron. I really did. I loved my cut walking out of the salon. However, the true test is always whether or not I can recreate that look. So for anyone considering Salon Modello this is everything you need to know: (and check the HIDDEN Yelp reviews!) Parking (Friday at 5pm) - There is a tiny lot on the right side of the building that was full, but there is also free parking on the street to the left side. WIN! As soon as I walked in the receptionist ask for me by name, so that was some what reassuring. She quickly asked if she could get my coat out of the way and offered me a drink. I noticed other customers had wine and coffee. I was boring and stuck to water. I didn't keep a close watch on the time, but I'm fairly certain I was asked back by Aaron's assistant a little after my appointment time. That was quickly made up for by the head, neck, and shoulder massage Katie gave me. Not a single complaint there. After the massage, I had to wait for Aaron to get to a stopping place with his previous appointment. What I disliked most about Aaron was that he seems to overlap his appointments. If I'm paying that much for a cut I expect my stylist's full attention. In that respect I've had better experiences at GreatClips. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for some, but it bothered me a lot. When he finally came over, Aaron definitely went thru all the motions previously described by all the other lovely Yelp reviews that landed me in his chair. I told him that I was happy with the cut I had, and I just needed it trimmed up. I explained to him how easy it was to style and how little work I had to do after blow drying. He made one suggestions, which I was willing to give shot. He connected the two layers I had to supposedly make my hair look better when curly/wavy. It made sense, so I agreed to it. :-/ Shampoo was great, and Katie was super nice to talk to. Aaron was great to talk to as well. The wet cut experience was nothing less that what I had come to expect. Aaron actually went a bit above what I was use to in a stylist. He explained what he was doing, and I at least found it somewhat comforting. The blow out....well...Aaron started and then had to move to his next appointment. However, he did give me several tips for styling that I appreciated. Then he left me with Katie to keep things moving. She was super sweet, but just not very comfortable with what she was doing. Aaron came back over and finished the blow out. After my hair was dry he started to finish up the cut. Other than minor adjustments, I have never experienced this before. I'm not sure what he was using, but I found it to be the equivalent of nails on the chalkboard for my hair. Razor cut maybe? I've got nothing, but I let him do his thing. I have personally never been unhappy with a haircut...ever! I wish I had told him just to keep the style the same, but I'm honestly afraid to go back give him a second chance. I can't even muster up enough courage to go back to ask him to fix it. It is so short that I don't know that it can be fixed. It actually looks worse than my previous cut when curly, and styling it is more work that I wanted. They do have a referral program, so that you get a discount off of your cut if you send friends. They also invited me to their anniversary party in a few weeks. Bad haircut aside - The experience for the most part was good, but if they made a few changes it could have been exceptional. So we arrived early, had some pastries at highland bakery, and I walked in for my appt. I definitely emailed back and forth with the receptionist setting up my appt., but alas, when I arrived it was missing? I even showed them my phone and the conversation history BC they were literally freaking. First they tried to palm me off on some random hairstylist I didn't want touching my hair. I had an iffy feeling but who can turn down free? So I came back and met the famous Aaron. Ok originally 2 stars for the diva attitudes but he's actually a good hairstylist so I don't fault the increased prices with the inflating economy and such ( oops I didn't pay but I did notice the price points had gone up a bit to be competitive). My hair was pretty long so we hacked it off for Locks of Love as I was going for a long bob. I was served some wine or champagne and that probably made me obnoxious and weird as a I don't really drink and he wasn't having it. I told him my hair used to be so strong I could floss with it and I just don't think we ever clicked. I honestly think if he could just have a love affair with hair and not deal with people and their bullshit it'd be fine. He did let me know that he favored razoring, while I told him NOOOO and he respected. Just be specific. Maybe I'm reading far too much into every little nuance but I really got bad vibes. I have followed Aaron ever since I met him 9 years ago. I lived in Atlanta from 2004 - 2012, and we moved to Seattle in Sep 2012, had a couple of cuts there but no one could get long layers right, so I let my hair grow out like a hippie. I was tempted to fly back to Atlanta to get my cuts but we have moved back to Atlanta, yesterday....Thank the Lord!!! Aaron was one of the reasons we moved back, silly I know, but he is that good! No joke... :-) I am SUPER particular about my cuts. I get irritated with stylist who blame the lighting or whatever when one side of my layers is not laying/cut right, which would be the signs of a substandard stylist, like GreatClips. The experience at his salon is amazing as you will see over and over and OVER again in all these reviews. Aaron is a great stylist and knows what he is doing; he does coloring too but doesn't practice it. If I could I would give him infinite amount of stars. Aaron is VERY GOOD about interpreting what you want so long as you're detailed and descriptive about what you want, like with any stylist. Communication like with anything, is key...and Aaron is very good at understand what you want. Aaron does get busy...hence the great work he does and the amazing reputation he has built for himself, so the overlapping of appointments does occur from time to time, but who cares! He starts and ends the appointment with you and gives you a FABULOUS AND GREAT QUALITY CUT AND STYLE....no shoddy work like GreatClips (REALLY?!...that was just an inappropriate comparison and he has worked very hard to build a high quality reputation). Keep reading, yelpers. I have a very important public announcement to make. First off, I am a salon wh*re. Second off, no one can satisfy me when it comes to hair. With that said, I can confidently say that this salon is simply perfect! My go to stylist is Marie at Dada, but she is usually booked about 8 weeks out. I had Japanese thermal straightening done recently and it left my ends a bit crispy. I needed to find a great salon fast and I started digging all across the internet. Salon Modello had a 5 star average on yelp and I could clearly see that Aaron, the owner, had an army of loyal clients that would follow him to the end of the world. I called in to make an appointment. Luckily, Aaron had an opening the next morning. This salon is located in a very hip part of town so be sure to be prepared for street parking. Once I entered the salon, I was greeted by every member of Aaron's staff with a huge smile. I was asked if I'd like a drink three different times and that is always a good sign of wonderful service. They were all engaged to give me a warm reception. Katie, the cute apprentice, started me off by giving me a brief massage followed by a relaxing wash. Then Aaron greeted me and that was the beginning of the most incredible experience I've ever had at a hair salon. He studied my hair for a good three minutes or so and asked me a bunch of questions as far as what I wanted out of this appointment. I told him I wanted to keep the length, but add some defined and textured layers throughout. Though the salon seemed super busy(even on this gloomy rainy day), Aaron took his time and I felt like I was the only one in the salon because of all the attention I got from him. This artist is truly gifted in his trade. It took him about an hour to finish cutting and styling my hair. Here comes the best part: THE BLOWOUT. He used three different products and gave me a blowout as if I had come in for one. The level of service he and his team provide is out of this world. Throughout the service, he couldn't help but share with me tons of tips and styling points which most hair stylist do without. His passion for hair and providing a top notch service radiated from him and that was so very wonderful to witness. I have been to so many different salons all over the state, but this salon is hands down the best. Not to mention, he keeps the staff up to date by providing educational classes every month! She took in my hair history without judgement and together we planned a future based on my hairs attributes and my lifestyle. Because my hair was not long enough for the style I wanted we found a look that will be the "transition cut", this would also be the shortest style I've ever had so I was a bit nervous. Everything about my experience with Salon Modello was amazing. This was my first time dyeing my hair ever, and I was really nervous. Especially because it was a really drastic change---from virgin black hair (I'm Chinese) to platinum blonde. Reese was really thoughtful and answered my questions every step of the way. (I also appreciated that he wasn't super chatty, though that depends on your personal preference of course). In one session, he lifted my hair from raven black to a beautiful ashy-gray blonde, which was amazing. He is obviously very knowledgeable and his expertise made my experience really comfortable. The bleach they use barely burns at all, unlike some of the chemical-blister horror stories you read about online. Can't wait to go back in a couple weeks to get it lightened one more time to that true platinum white! read more

My Grandfather was a beautician, he used to own a beauty shop called Princess Pat's (named for my Grandmother), and I have wavy red hair. I am very persnickety about who styles my hair. The stylist needs to be able to know how to cut different types of hair (curly, wavy, stick straight, etc.), but also needs to listen to their client and understand their personal style. In conjunction with listening to their clients, they then have to have the confidence to style the hair to it's best design. Essentially, listen and then run with their ideas. I have tried to find such a stylist in several cities, and many have fallen just a little short. When I entered Salon Modello I was taken in by the decor and the fact that they offered me a selection of drink options including wine and beer (who doesn't love that?). I met my stylist Aaron and he listened to everything I said about my hair; the density, the waviness, blah blah blah and he listened very intently to what I was saying. Then he made educated suggestions about what to do with my hair. Then he informed me about everything he was doing. It was great! The first time around with a new stylist I never do anything too drastic, and it had been a loooooong time since my last cut, so it was basically just a clean up job. Nevertheless, Alana gave me a truly great cut. She was also a wealth of information on how to style my crazy thick, straight hair that doesn't hold style ever. New trick: curl it with a straight iron...it stayed all night - go figure! The salon itself had a chill atmosphere, which I love. I actually felt comfortable there, unlike most salons I've visited in the past. Now, I'm a notorious serial dater when it comes to salons and stylists...I just can't seem to commit haha. I have to start by saying that I'm very particular with my hair. I been to a few hair salons in atl and I have to say that Aaron from salon modello is the best at what he does. I booked an appointment there and the guy that I spoke to on the phone specifically said that Aaron would be the one that I should see because I really wanted someone who knows how to work with someone with thin hair. Not everyone can cut thin hair! So that being said I made an appointment with Aaron and I'm really happy with the result. When I came in for my haircut they immediately greeted me when I came in and they already knew who I was even though it was my first time. So I sat in Aaron chair and he first gave me some info about my hair and what was the best style for it. Which I did appreciate alot! He also gave me an amazing head massage even before my shampoo! I left there very pleased and found out things about my hair that I never knew. And also a plus is that he showed me how to style it myself. Thanks Aaron!!! Your the best! I would of gave five stars but the last person that I saw that shampoo and styled my hair didn't really know what he was doing. Its not his fault just that he doesn't know how to deal with someone of my hair type. So next time I just make sure I specifically ask for Aaron! The salon is very urban feel which I love! They play great music and offer you drinks. One thing that's inconvenient would be parking. If you go on the weekend it would probably be a hassle to find parking. So again I definitely make an appointment on a weekday so I can prevent that issue. So if you have thin hair like me or just need a great hair cut then go see Aaron. I am so incredibly happy with my experience at Salon Modello. I was scheduled with Jacky and she was very friendly. I told her exactly what I wanted and she delivered. I have always been wanting a bangs, and have been telling every stylist for years that is what I wanted. However, all other stylist said because my "cow lick" that I would be unable to have that look. She worked my hair and cut it and kept working at it until I got what I wanted! It looks beautiful. She also did a beautiful warm blonde/red color. It made my skin look warmer and y blue eyes pop out. The staff was also very friendly. I was promptly seen by the receptionist who was very friendly. Throughout my appointment I was offered beverages and asked if I needed anything. Already scheduled my next appointment and am so excited! Plus Jacky said I can stop by any time for free bang trims or if I have difficulty styling she will be happy to help me out. read more
