You don't have to endure the grueling heat and pulling of the blow dryer combing through your hair. My hair is thin. I can't comfortably sit through the constant heat of the blow dryer combing. Since my hair is thin, she pin curled it so the curls wouldn't fall in the intense heat. What a unique experience for women and girls of color. My favorite part is the shampoo stations, they are so comfortable! I could fall asleep in them (at my old salons it would be so uncomfortable, my neck would hurt, and water would run down my back) My stylist was Natalie Nguyen and I'm so happy I found her after such a long time searching for the "one" I enjoyed our pleasant conversations, her humor, her professionalism, and her talent is top tier. They also did not communicate properly with me at all. I was never asked what kind of haircut I wanted--no one asked if I wanted a V-cut or any other style. I came in wanting a perm, but they refused without fully listening to me. They assumed I wanted a curly perm, even though I never said that. No one asked if I wanted a straight perm, which is what I actually wanted. I feel like my opinions weren't taken seriously because of my age. Everyone deserves to be listened to and treated with respect, especially kids. Better communication and respect for clients would really improve this salon.

I'm looking for a talented stylist w/great customer service and the stylist are into hair care which means they carefully handle you & your hair. I need a salon that promotes healthy hair. I went on a Fri. night be and lurked around. A friendly stylists greeted me answering all my questions about my hair which I wore in it's natural state so they'd know what they were working with. No one tried to charge me extra for natural hair. I observed an up-to-date, clean salon. The stylist all had healthy hair which is important to me. The all had good color jobs, clean ends, and healthy hair. I found no smokey hair dryers w/clients sliding into their seats because their scalp was being burned. Reputable products were being used. All clients had great edges & no broken fly aways. Most of all the customers seemed happy and everyone had healthy bouncy hair. I showed up the next day with my hair pre-poo'd with my oil mix and my bag of goodies. I pulled out my shampoo, beer rinse & homemade conditioner & no one flinched. LILY washed my hair and gave me the best head massage. She respectfully followed all my directions, carefully distributing all my products from root to tip with great care. She also carefully detangled my hair. Ok wash went well. Now my roller set & styling... MORENA moved through my natural roots with no problem & set my hair so my roots were laying flat. She was genuinely concerned w/what I wanted so when I explained I wanted the blow dryer set on low w/a light pass over my roots she happily obliged. She even ran dryer on cool which gives your hair more elasticity. Ladies when I tell you this was best Dominican experience ever!!! Not once did I hear my hair snap due to aggressive combing, nor did I ever feel heat on my scalp. She never tried to force me into something that was convenient for her. She trimmed my hair and was clear on how much i wanted off before she started. She massaged my scalp prior to styling so my head was loving me for finding this place. All the other customers left w/smiles and good color jobs, varying cuts like bobs, layers etc... But everyone had movement and swang. They seemed to have very good relationships with their clients, great people skills, and magic hands & technique. Thank you LILY & MORENA. Final price was the usual $35 plus $10 for my trim. Hopefully this was thorough enough...

No one does hair like the Dominicans. I just love the products they use. Half of the establishment is a salon and the other half is a barbershop. Nothing fancy just very basic but you'll get your hair hooked up. It will look and feel shiny and silky. With all the Yankees moving down to Georgia, this place gets very busy, but hey, I guess we know what we like. They accept walk-ins but I recommend making an appointment.
