I was very excited to find an Aveda salon near me because I know their stylists are required to have special training from Aveda itself. I've had my hair cut there three times. the first time I had to go back because it was cut crooked. the second time was OK except the layers were done strangely so I always had a boufant on top and a flip at the end. the third and final time the stylist clearly didn't understand what I meant by blend all the layers and add face framing because I still had a boufant when she was done. I asked her to blend the layers and she chopped huge chunks of hair from one side of my head. well, I don't have a boufant anymore but the sides are once again uneven and my hair was so thinned it has no volume. I went from a boufant on top with flipped up ends to flat and uneven. I've never written a negative review before and hope I don't hurt anyone feelings, but I gave her three chances. I'm not going to bother going back to have it fixed because I'm afraid I'll leave with a pixie cut. I'll just find someone else to cut my hair. read more

I was extremely disappointed with my experience here. I wanted to treat myself and get my hair cut and colored, and I've never changed the color of all my hair at once before. My grandma was even partially funding it, so the expensive price was not EVEN an issue starting out. So I'm not very good at hair terminology, but I would assume any hair stylist should still be able to figure out what a client wants. I wanted an ombré/balayage, but mainly an ombré! I wanted warm blonde tips and a caramel brown mixed up top. I even showed a picture. (First picture below IS NOT MY HAIR; it's what I WANTED and DID NOT get.) I will just post the finished picture of my hair when I made it home after 6.5 hours that resulted in NOTHING. My hair was naturally more ombré than it ended up being after they were finished. And the finished hair they gave me, was only a little bit lighter than my natural hair. I was sooo devastated because I had this appointment for 3 weeks and I was so excited for a change. And it didn't look that different to me. If the employees had been nice to me after I told them I didn't really like it, I would give them 2 or 3 stars. But the reason I am taking the time to write this long review, is because they never apologized. They told me that my hair looked "pretty darn close" to the picture I showed them. (It looks even closer to the hair I walked in with) They questioned what I "thought that I saw" in the picture. Well, I saw blonde. And I said blonde. Rude, sassy, people. Also, yes, Lauren, I do know that bleach is supposed to take color out of hair. And OKAY Jaqui. Thanks for not charging me, but don't act like I was too "concerned about the money" like you all actually deserved it. Admit your mistakes and apologize next time, and then maybe you won't get a bad review. :p UPDATE: My previously soft and healthy hair is no more. It's been a couple days now, and after the first shower, I could tell. It is now, not only severely dried out, but hard, stringy, and straw-like. I'm sure you awful people are pleased to hear that. Whatever they used on my hair is not okay. Whether it was the bleach or color or whatever, you need to change it. I know they sprayed something on my hair "to help it DRY faster" while they overly and aggressively blow-dried it. You all should have given ME the $300 for 1) wasting my time, and 2) royally DESTROYING my hair. I'm literally gonna have to get it all chopped off now. This is not an "over-reaction", but if you have to tell yourself that to get through the day, keep on keeping on. Peace. read more

I paid about $170 (including tip) to get lowlights in my hair. The hair stylist seemed to do a good job and I left happy. after two washes with color safe shampoo, my hair had turned an ugly brassy color. I live several hours away, so going back to get it fixed is not an option. I wanted a refund because $170 on hair is a splurge for me and paying to get it redone AGAIN is a ton of money for a broke college student. Well, my options were to drive 3/4 hours each way to get it fixed, OR a store credit for 50% of what I spent. As if I would want them to EVER touch my hair again, much less give them more money. I'm devastated. Please beware letting these stylists touch your hair, you're better off risking a box dye. They ruined my hair. TERRIBLE. read more

I am very picky about my hair, so getting me to stop driving 400 miles was hard! I have naturally dark nearly black hair, and dye my hair bright red. That is something that is a challenge. I went in for a consultation and gave them a chance. I was very happy with my results... (See my photos) I have worked with 2 different stylists, Jacquie was who designed my color combination. It turned out great... My biggest issue is that it is quite costly, comparing to what I paid in Washington DC. For this area, I feel it is a bit high. But you also get what you pay for. read more

I got my haircut here a little while ago and the staff was very friendly but that doesn't matter so much when your hair is ruined after letting them cut it.. I asked for a trim and layers. My layers are choppy and terrible. Ive since let my hair grow out a little hoping that it would help but nope..I cant even wear my hair down without feel self-conscious about it. I will not be returning and wouldn't even let my dog get a haircut here. read more
