AFTER POSTING THIS EMPLOYEES OF THIS SALON HAVE BEEN HARASSING ME THROUGH THIS APP LOL DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. I walked into Salon Glam for the first time 2 weeks ago to set up an appointment for a brown to blonde balayage. When I came to set up the appointment I had blue/green tips from semi-permanent box dye and asked the stylist that would be doing my hair if I should get color remover but I was told it would be fine. Well it wasn't. And this is sadly just the beginning. I was very adamant about not wanting visible length cut off. Not only did the stylish chop my hair off she cut it while facing me AWAY from the mirror and my ends are a completely straight line they look absolutely ridiculous. And then toward the end of the process the stylist tells me that I'll have to come back in a month to pay for the process all over again if I want to achieve my desired look. Why wasn't I told this at the consult? My stylist didn't even speak to me the entire time I was in her chair, it was so awkward. The only thing that was said was me BEING VERY ADAMANT about not wanting length cut off and if she had to trim it then an invisible trim only. I've had my hair processed in a professional salon and went from brown to blonde in one sitting and I left this salon with a chop job and orange untoned balayage and I still have blue in my hair but the salon was very good at making sure it wasn't pictured in their before and after. They took a picture of my hair with a bright white light making it look completely different from what it looks like in person. I felt very awkward so I calmly paid (which was $70 more expensive than I was quoted) I even tipped the stylist who didn't listen to anything I wanted and just did what she thought was best. And I called when I got home after crying about my hair. I never treat myself and I don't think it's right I had to leave feeling horrible about my appearance and I emailed back and forth with the salon owner and her daughter who both aren't very helpful. I asked for a refund for half of what I paid for and nothing. I see that they have a lot of great reviews but when I was sitting in the salon I realized it was from a lot of older clients that have been probably going there for years or the 5 star reviews are plain fake because I cannot understand the lack of consideration, lack of customer service, and lack of communication this establishment has shown me. I'm very upset about spending money on something I didn't want. I essentially paid close to $200 to feel like crap about my appearance and I had so been looking forward to the confidence boost and got just the opposite. read more

Got a simple wash, cut, and blow dry by Joanna. She did a great job. Super personable, easy to talk to, and made me feel comfortable. Was very responsive to what I asked for and also asked questions along the way. I would go back to her in a heartbeat. The shop itself was clean, packed with customers, and had a good vibe. Not that it means anything, but there were lot of older women there (and knowing how my grandmother is with her salon)--that's always a tell-tale sign that the business is good. I've been to this salon twice now, and I won't be going back. The first time I scheduled an appointment, I spoke directly with the owner. She assessed my hair and we agreed on a price for a full foil. Because I was a first time customer, I was able to get a free haircut during my appointment. Everything came out great and I was happy with the color, happy with the cut, and happy with the price that I was quoted. Upon checkout however, the owner was no longer in the salon, and the receptionist charged me an additional $15 for a toner. (This additional cost was not discussed during my appointment whatsoever). Although the price was not what I was quoted, I paid the higher price and kept my mouth shut. My second appointment was scheduled over the phone, but this time I opted not to have a toner OR a haircut. Considering I had less done on the second appointment, you would think that my price would be less. Logically thinking, this would make sense. It would make even more sense considering that on my second visit I also had a coupon for 20% off. Instead of paying less on my second visit, the price was exactly the same as my first appointment. Please tell me how you get less things done AND you have a coupon and yet the price is identical to the first visit. When I expressed my frustration to the owner's daughter (the owner was on vacation) she gave me nothing but attitude and excuses. Her first excuse was that my hair is long. Admittedly, my hair does reach halfway down my back, but my it's the same length as it was 2 months ago. Then she tells me that she charged me an additional $10 to blow dry my hair? First of all, the hairdresser knew I was upset about the pricing BEFORE she dried my hair, so if she knew it was going to cost an extra $10, she should have mentioned that. Second of all, my hair was blow dried the first time and there was no extra charge then. My problem with this salon is that 2 out of 2 visits, I have left feeling disappointed when it came time to pay. I imagine they never heard the saying that "the customer is always right." Rather than listening to my frustrations and understanding that the prices made no sense, the daughter sat there rolling her eyes while other girls started chiming in and backing her up. I flat out told them how horrible their customer service was and rather than saying anything at all, she shrugged and ran my card. I used to be a hairdresser, so all of this I could understand if it were handled better. The hidden costs should have been mentioned up front. The prices should have been consistent. The customer interaction should have been a lot more sympathetic and understanding. The work that the girls do is good, but either way, I won't be going back. read more

Wow! I have been avoiding getting my haircut in Philadelphia for the 1.5 years I lived here and I finally gave Salon Glam a chance (versus waiting to go back home to my old stylist) and I AM GLAD THAT I DID. Upon first entering, I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The salon was bright, had a Keurig set up and wine offered. The ladies at the desk were super helpful and Nanci was willing to figure out a price point for me before I decided to add color to my cut (I did!) I really LOVED how Nanci and her staff were clearly dedicated to their practice and their customers. The salon was clean, busy (but not understaffed), and had a warm/welcoming environment. April cut and colored my hair, lightening up my previous ombre and adding more color to my hair. She was very friendly and it was easy to hold a conversation with her while she worked her magic. These ladies were able to lighten my black hair to the lightest I have ever seen it get and the ombre simply looked PHENOMENAL. April even styled it, even past the closing time of the salon. If the other employees weren't busy, they were chatting up customers, ensuring they had a magazine, or drink if need be. It seemed like a big family (and I love that kind of atmosphere). You could tell that ALL of them were working in their "dream job". Since I was the last customer, I really appreciated Nanci and April offering to walk me out towards Dupont St, since they were parked down that way, as well. That was really considerate. I told them I would definitely be dragging my (picky) boyfriend back for a haircut and coming for their services while I live in the Philadelphia area. FYI: Tips should be made in money, so stop by an ATM beforehand (though they were accommodating to me as a first timer) The only recommendation I would make to Nanci is to put some prices up on her website -- even though they were VERY willing to give me quotes over the phone. I will say that their prices were VERY FAIR considering the other prices I've seen around Manayunk/Roxborough, and for an EXCELLENT service and experience. read more

I really enjoy coming here! I met the ladies of Salon Glam when they sponsored an adoption event and fundraiser for PAWS (Philly Animal Welfare Society). Metered street parking is usually available. It's easy to park for free on side streets, too. I have thick curly hair a bit below my shoulders that I am growing out several more inches. I'm always nervous to get my my ends/long layers cleaned up, but I can trust Salon Glam to not hack off an inch of hair :-) I've been here twice to get cuts and they always end with a nice leave in conditioner or serum. I also get my eyebrows waxed here, too. I have sensitive skin and haven't had issues with excessive redness or over waxing. I don't use any other services like color or styling, but I'd imagine those are great. The prices are very reasonable. I think it's about $40 for me to get a cut and eyebrow wax (with tip). They also offer hot tea, water, and wine. Such a nice touch! I'm looking forward to my next visit in a couple weeks. read more

Moving to a new area requires a lot of changes and one of the most challenging can be finding a hair stylist. In my neighborhood of Roxborough, and particularly along the business corridor on Ridge Avenue, clients have many choices (I am guessing at least 6 or more in under a mile). While strolling the avenue one day after getting a bakery treat next door at Cafe Roma Bakery, I casually stopped in the Salon Glam. I had reconnected with an old friend who cut hair but unfortunately he worked at a high-end salon and the price tag for a haircut was twice what I was use to paying. I'm pretty sure it was the manager-owner who greeted me, advised of pricing for haircuts (and coloring too) and gave me the salon business card. I only stopped by to inquire and already I felt welcome. When it came time for my next cut, I called Salon Glam and schedule for both a cut and color. I was scheduled with April and on arrival, the same manager recognized me from several weeks prior making me feel extra welcome. There was no delay for my appointment time. April took time to learn about my needs for both styling and color. This was one of the best first-time experiences ever at a new salon. I am extremely happy with the entire process - cut and color. She was allowed to take the proper amount of time to cut my hair and do the coloring service without ever feeling rushed. The price was excellent (just $18 for a men's cut and shampoo, plus the color of course). As an added bonus, while waiting for the color treatment, the Salon offers complimentary beverages including coffee and more - so you can really feel like your indulging yourself. I will be back and would certainly recommend you give Salon Glam a try - if you're nervous about trying a new place, just ask for April. June Update - I've already been back, just a few days ago and this time for a regular haircut again with April. And once again I am very happy with the cut and style! I'm posting a profile picture here of him with his beard and mustache and the brown hair, which was supposed to be salt and pepper like his mustache. The last thing my boyfriend wanted to be was an experiment - and that is exactly what he was. Some people should never color hair and only cut it. We had to consult a real color specialists to figure out what she did wrong and try to correct it the best we could. My boyfriend and I were there yesterday to have his white hair dyed to salt and pepper, like his mustache. We were very clear about wanting salt & pepper, by putting some dark color back into his hair and matching his mustache, which we pointed out was still salt and pepper, with white and grey and very dark brown. The stylist, Jackie, dyed it to a medium brown using a 5N permanent color. She combed it through his entire head. He ended up with a muddy, medium brown, fully dyed hair color. The real professional we consulted with afterwards stated this was not only the wrong shade to achieve salt and pepper, but also the wrong method, since she didn't protect any of his hair. Not to mention, she left him with a large patch of greyish/white hair in the back of his head the size of a baseball and all the underlying 1/2" roots were mostly grey/white as well below the brown. They stated it couldn't be corrected and wouldn't give me the money back. Didn't apologize or admit to destroying his hair color. And the owner looked directly at the back of his dried hair yesterday after the horrible dye job and didn't say a word to at least correct the patch in the back and and actually said it looked good. She was also completely rude and ignorant when trying to get the money back. It's not about the money all together - you don't ruin someone's hair and then not even apologize and act ignorant as if you some how came close to what was requested in great detail. I'll be filing in small claims court, as well with the Better Business Bureau and repeating this review all over the internet to assist other people in avoiding this nightmare place - or at least the the owner, her daughter and Jackie. All ignorant and apparently need to go back to school to learn what "salt and pepper" means because it doesn't mean medium, muddy brown. read more

For years I was rolling the dice with the chain store hair cut places, frequently once you liked somebody there they would move on, and you would be with the next new graduate. Splitendz is not any more expensive and you get a friendly consistent staff, who do a good job. Plus its great atmosphere. I have been going there and bringing kids there for hair cuts. My wife was paying a lot more to have hair cut / colored on main street, on whim decided to have hair done there last, by Christie, and now is also a convert. By far the best salon in Roxborough and Manayunk... Upscale cuts and colors for regular prices.. When my hairdresser retired back in September i panicked big time .... I have been going to her since the 80's so i really had only one hairdresser my whole life and when she retired i was thinking that i will never be able to find anyone as awesome as her.... Well i was wrong...Through Friends i heard about Salon Glam i knew the owner from another salon that i went to and they talked me into giving them a try... I really didnt think they would be able to achieve the color and the cut that i wanted but i gave them a shot...Well Miss Nancy (the owner) is a color genius... not only did she get the exact color i wanted but she made it pop. The cut and color was absolutely gorgeous... I had the total salon experience ... the chatting with the girls.. the glass of wine... the beautiful hairdo and also got my eyebrows and lip waxed. I have made a new hairdresser for life... Not to mention that they just did a new remodel of the salon and it lives up to its name Salon Glam...It was so comfortable i felt like i was at home...Nancy and the girls do a wonderful job i would highly recommend this salon to anyone... and just a note before i end ... they do the best fixes ever... i was in there and a girl came in with hair that was so damaged from color and the color was so off and i seen them take her and make her hair look brilliant...
