I've been to this salon twice for walk in haircuts, once in 2018 and again just a few weeks ago. My first haircut here was perfect, I got exactly what I wanted for a good price and it looked great. However, my second haircut was probably the worst haircut I've ever had. I do feel bad saying that, since I was a walk in and the staff were very nice and fit me in during a busy day as a walk in. However my hair just looks awful. I asked for a shaggy pixie cut, I showed a photo of exactly the kind of shaggy pixie cut I wanted, and left with some sort of stringy Bob with bangs that makes me look like a medieval friar boy, and my bangs shorter than when I came in after I said I wanted them longer. I did call and left a voicemail asking if I could get it fixed and if I would have to pay more to do so, but didn't get a response back. I've had to find a way to fix my hair on my own. I appreciated their patience getting me in their schedule for a quick haircut, but if they weren't able to do so I would have been okay getting an appointment a few days later for a good result... Update - it appears that no highlights were put in my hair - just a warm gold color. This confirms my belief that this salon has someone on the floor with no training to do highlights, doing highlights. Do not go here. Clearly Natalie has no formal training. I showed her a picture of my own hair asking for a partial at the roots to match my BRIGHT BLONDE. She asked if I wanted golden blonde and I said "no." So after she was 25 minutes late to our appointment, she underdeveloped my hair although my foils were on for 40 minutes (25 max is what it takes to develop a bright blonde) and put in a dark gold toner - exactly what I said I did NOT want - that made all of my hair darker. All of this, for a few partial foils, including the time I waited for her, took almost three hours and made me late for an important event. Great place to get your eyebrows done (threading). The ambience is very soothing, with jazz music playing and relaxing decorative art. When waiting in the lobby, they have water, crackers, mints, coffee, etc. for you to have. The last two times that I've gone to get my eyebrows done, I was taken on time and the whole session was ~ 15 minutes. They do a good job of making sure there are no stray hairs and checking in on what eyebrow shape you want. The threading is as painless as can be and I am always happy with the shape of my eyebrows afterwards. They also ask if you want aloe gel on your eyebrows which always soothes any redness or puffiness after threading. Eyebrow threading is pretty reasonably priced at $12, considering its location and quality of work. My friend has also gone here for blow outs and said it is great! However, if you ask for an apprentice, be ready to carve out an hour or so of time because they tend to take a long time to do your hair. I went to Salon Druknya for the first time last month and I will definitely be returning for my next haircut. Here's my breakdown: Haircut - Upon reading the other reviews, I made an appointment for a haircut with Pakmo and I do not regret it! Pakmo first won me over while she was washing my hair. Oftentimes, stylists rush through this and can be rather rough. Packmo, on the other hand, took her time and gave an excellent scalp massage! As for the haircut, I told her I just wanted a trim and she did a great job, giving me a very clean and even cut. Ambiance - The other reviews are right in that the decor is definitely lacking (lots of cheap decorations) and that the stylists are relatively quiet. I actually don't particularly enjoy talking during my haircut so this worked out well for me! Price - I paid $35 dollars for a great cut and I'm used to playing $65+ for mediocre cuts. 'Nuff said. I've tried a few other hair salons in Charlottesville, and Salon Druknya is the first one for which I will be making a return visit. read more

Lindsey is happy to work with her clients, and takes care in ensuring that her work meets client's expectations. She is also very flexible - I've had two very difficult-to-cut styles while Lindsey's client. She's always cut my hair exactly to my specifications. I love this place and have gotten 4 or 5 amazing cuts. I will say that you should be wary of the young lady who is currently apprenticing. We agreed on a certain length before she started and at one point when I looked up, I realized that my hair was going to be a good three inches shorter than what I'd asked for. I was upset about it--my hair is now wider than it is long and it looks ridiculous and frumpy on me. Thank god for bobby pins! That haircut was free, however, because the hairdresser was still learning, so I can't complain too much. I will definitely be back because the more experienced stylists give excellent cuts at reasonable rates in a beautiful atmosphere. It will just be a while before I need another trim. read more

NEVER AGAIN! I went to Salon Druknya after reading all of the stellar reviews on Yelp. I wanted to get long bangs and a long-layered look--a change from my long, wavy hair. I brought in pictures, I was very specific with what I wanted--and yet, I walked out with an uneven haircut. My bangs were super short and the sides were uneven and chunky!!! I didn't even get the layers I'd asked for. She also cut my bangs starting from the crown of my head. I've had bangs twice before, and that's never happened--it looked terrible. Thankfully, i was able to (somewhat) fix it at the Aveda in Roanoke today. Anyway, biggest mistake and biggest waste of $40.00. At least the salon had a nice soothing atmosphere. Moved to Charlottesville in August, and have seen Laurel twice for my cuts and blonde highlights--she does such a great job (almost too good, because they grow out so well that I can spend longer in between visits!)!!!. With all the other bothersome things one has to do when settling into a new city, it's been so nice to have found a great stylist right away! The atmosphere is very relaxed and pretty quiet, even when there are lots of patrons. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE THERE. First, they have no experience when it comes to any kind of hair that is not straight. So curly, coily ? Forget it. Secondly, they don't know what they're doing. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and asked for a balayage dye job and the stylist said "What you want is not a balayage that is different so I'm gonna do this other thing thats gonna cost you an extra $15". I trusted her judgment and WRONG. I ended up with a terrible ombré that did NOT have a smooth transition between colors. So I paid extra for something I did not even want. Secondly, and most importantly, she left the dye on for too long in the front of my head so the hair in the front turned out to be a greenish color instead of blonde. There is only one section in the back of my head where the color turned out ok. Thirdly, I asked to have my eyebrows dyed to match my hair and it was absolutely useless. My eyebrow color did not change at all. And that was an extra $15. Finally, despite all these extra expenses that turned out to be a waste, I headed to the register to pay the full amount and the lady at the front asked me if I wished to tip my stylist and I kindly rejected it. She then proceeds to stare at me for a whole minute and refuses to hand me back my card until I tip the stylist. At that point, I tip her $5 and I'm on my way out with the ugliest dye job ever. Also, the whole time, I was letting them know I was not satisfied with the color and they kept replying that the color would change over time to my desired result. Needless to say, it never did. Just don't go there if you're looking for a complicated service because they will not tell you that they can't do it, they'll just go ahead and jack up your hair. Save yourself some money. read more

My third time getting my hair cut here and I don't think I'm going back...if i do definitely to another stylist. I went in for a trim (for my ends and side-swept bangs) and Shannon ended up cutting more bangs in which I did NOT ask for and she did NOT let me know what she was doing. My bangs sweep to my left ( as they have) but I now have an ear length chunk of hair on the right side of my head, framing my face. When I asked her why it was there she said "for symmetry" "so all the hair isn't on one side" I said that was what I wanted. that was how it was. i wanted my bangs all to one side. Tashi is amazing (hair stylist) and Sehrish does the best eyebrows in town (eyebrow threading). I actually like the fact that they are not unnecessarily chatty or nosey. I was in a hurry, had an unplanned professional event that had just presented itself, so I needed to look good. I was a walk-in, l had never been here before. Perhaps I just happened to be unlucky and got a clueless stylist. But DO NOT go here if you have curly hair. Stylist started by combing through my hair, dry, with a hairbrush. (Really?) I recoiled in the styling chair, and wanted to leave right then, asked her if she knew how to care for curly hair. She said she did, but it went downhill from there: $60 later, my layers are not looking good, I need to go somewhere else and get my hair fixed. I was in Charottsville for a vacation and wanted to have a fresh looking stylish haircut. Packmo was my stylist. She asked me how I want to have my haircut done. Well... I am sure she is a good stylist, but I really did not enjoy the whole process and the outcome much. In terms of the outcome, I think we both had a communication problem. I think she had a certain hairstyle in her mind, and I had a different one in my mind. And we both thought we understood each other, but apparently we were not! I always had a bob hairstyle, which has layered shorter back and rather lengthened/ textured/ angled side hair. When I say, "bob hairstyle" in any hair salons, I had no problems except the last few times in a foreign country. Packmo tried to give me a pageboy haircut I think. Not much texture, and the length between the back and side were the same. I asked her to texture the side hair more, and she tried, but instead of leaving the side angular end, --which is the most important part of the Bob haircut-- she sort of cut it off from the opposite direction! ... although it was right after she asked me if I want to have "angle" on my side-- whatever that meant... Well, I did not want her to continue layering since she seemed really worried about the whole style, and so was I. Beyond the outcome of the hairstyle, I would say this is not a friendly and comfortable hair salon. It is a very quiet place, and I felt very uncomfortable communicating with Packmo... She asked me how much I want to cut, and if I want the exact same style from the previous one or not, but I expected to have her suggestions and more discussions before making a decision. I think this ... weird... rather heavier atmosphere really didn't lead us to the road I envisioned. I felt a bit suffocated... there. not comfortable ... very worried. Shampoo and scalp massage did not meet my expectation either. I felt she just applied shampoo and rinsed off immediately without massaging my hair thoroughly because I said my neck is uncomfortable. I asked her to shampoo again and do what she normally has to do (massage), and she did it again, but it was again for an instant moment. Also, when she cuts hair, instead she moves her position, she moved my chair. so I was not able to see how my hair is being cut since the mirror was on the back of my head. This was important to me because I know what techniques are needed to achieve the style I like. I also felt she spent most of her time blow drying instead of cutting my hair...long long hot drying/styling. I normally wash my hair after haircut to restyle them. so... I did not appreciate how she allocated her time on my hair. Well, It seems like I am dissatisfied with everything here, but .... My dissatisfaction with the outcome is not entirely Packmo's fault. I made her to keep layering my side hair thinking magically she will read my mind, which made it worse. Afterall, it is not a bad haircut, it could be worse. And my hubby said I look cute with it. For years, between Cville and LA I've bounced around to different hairdressers. I always end up coming back to this place. I get consistently good haircuts here, something I can't say about any other salon. The atmosphere is great, they don't try to talk your ear off (thank god), and they do an amazing job. Will be coming back here as soon as I fly back to Cville after another expensive, disappointing salon experience elsewhere. UPDATE: They fixed the world's worst dye job, and did so amazingly well. This was my first visit and I'll be back again! Inside of the salon is beautifully decorated, exuding both warmth and fun. Loved the huge vintage brass mirrors on the walls. But enough about the decor - I received a stellar cut & style from Lindsey. I felt like she took the time to listen to what I wanted, gave a very relaxing scalp massage, maintained a professional yet relaxed vibe, and executed the cut perfectly! I went to this salon for a cut and color with two different people. The man who did my color was great. The woman who did my cut was a nightmare. Chastising me about the condition of my hair the entire time and completely disregarding the picture of the cut I wanted. She cut my hair so short it looks terrible, I have never left a salon feeling so disheartened about my appearance. During the course of the cut she informed me that she had just quit the local Hair Cuttery. If I had wanted a $10.00 cut I would have gone there to begin with. Lesson learned: Just because it is a nice salon doesn't mean that all of the personal are equally qualified. Request someone you trust. read more

I've had my face threaded by multiple people in multiple cities. By and far, Sehrish at Salon Druknya is the absolute best. She uses a thread that is a lighter weight (I think......) which makes the process less painful. Also she spends a good amount of time making sure every single hair is gone. I was excited to try Salon Druknya because of the location and the reasonable prices. I took a picture of my hair from a few years ago and asked for the same haircut. SHANNON cut my hair much much shorter. When I told her how I felt she said it would grow, and she was sorry. I don't think she cared at all. This was the first time I've ever not tipped a hair stylist. (I'm 30 years old.)
