Bad hair days are a real thing. Bad haircuts can be traumatic. That's because our tresses/manes say a lot about us. (If my hair's in a ponytail, you know that's the best I could do today.) I have been going to SDC for years and years. (And years.) I have occasionally taken a break, like when my longtime stylist moved away. I've tried those walk-in places and other salons. I come back here because the quality and service is always good. I'm done straying. The stylists have regular training on different products and techniques. They have different levels of stylists; prices increase with stylist experience. Yet prices are still comparable to similar salons. I love the gentle head massage that is included with the shampoo. Today, my stylist, Paige, spent extra time with me discussing color and style options as I was considering a change. She is great to work with. The first floor has a spa where they do manicures, facials, etc. I had a facials once years ago. I don't know what they do now. The second floor is where the hair salon is. The only thing I don't care for is that when it's really busy, it can get pretty noisy. The vaulted ceilings, piped-in music, hair dryers, and lots of people talking results in a cacophony that makes conversation with your own stylist difficult. This has been the most beautiful that I can imagine, I had to have my color removed and done in stages from a dark color to blonde and it has turned into the most beautiful color that I could have imagined, and we are still working with it. SALON DE CHRISTIE' WEST CLAY OWNERS BELIEVES IT IS ACCEPTABLE TO BAIT AND SWITCH THEIR CLIENTS AND PRICE GOUGE THEM!!!!!!! Went to Salon De Christe' for a full foil hair color. Before booking my appointment I went in for a consultation to make sure the price as my hair is long and really thick. The stylist they selected for me was Amanda. During the consultation she told me the cost would be $225 plus I would have to purchase extra color since my hair was so long. I specifically asked if blow dry and style was included in the price because I was going to go out to dinner with my husband that evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I was told this service is provided for no additional fee. I agreed to the cost and booked my appointment. On 9/21/2022 I came in for my appointment. I arrived at 9 am and my time allotted was until 1 pm. The foil took 1 hour to complete. I remember looking at my watch to see just how long it took to apply all the foils During foiling she stated I will need to charge you $30 for each extra color that we use. She stated we were on bowl 3 and would most likely use 4 bowls of the color. My hair processed and then she used 1 container of toner for my hair. When she finally got all the product removed and washed my hair we go to her station and she says, "Are you going to rock your curls today? " I looked at her and asked, "Do you not have time to blow dry it?" She stated, "Well no not really since it took me 2 hours to do your foils." This was not what she had stated before at the consultation. She did dry my hair so that I could see the color but did not style it at all. I had to go home and straight iron it myself. To add insult to injury imagine my surprise when I went to check out and my TOTAL was $613.78. For a full foil, hair cut, and product. I paid the bill but as soon as I got into my car and was driving away I called the Salon to inquire as to what my charges were for since I did not receive a itemized receipt. The sales woman told me the product total was $136. I asked could this be returned and she agreed. I called back again to question how many bowls of color came with my service because what Amanda wrote on the pricing ticket was $250 - consultation fee $180 - 6 bowls of color When I spoke to Amanda she informed me that the $225 price she quoted me was just a starting point and that was her consultation fee to do the color. I asked her how many bowls of color came with the fee of $225 and she told me that did not include color. This was not communicated to me during the consultation appointment. I then said, "You mean to tell me that I paid you $100/hr to color my hair? That is the fee you charge." She said yes. I told her that I am an RN and I don't even make that kind of money and had she told me that was her fee I would have never booked this appointment. I also told her that she did not explain that in the consultation to which she states, "I'm sorry I didn't explain it well." I called the management of this establishment and the owner was to be contacted. After speaking with the Supervisor Addie in the Salon she informed me that the owner Salon De Christie' would refund me for 3 bowls of color for this appointment. That is all $90... When I asked Addie if Salon De Christie really charges their clients that much to color their hair. Addie stated, "Well the stylist isn't making the $100/hr the salon gets part of that fee as well. So you didn't pay her that total amount. SALON DE CHRISTIE' BELIEVES IT IS AN ACCEPTABLE PRACTICE TO BAIT AND SWITCH THEIR CLIENTS AND PRICE GOUGE THEM!!! read more

My experience is 50-50. I got eyelashes done and I went twice. I liked them but wasn't fully happy with them either time. I was told that the lash pro needs multiple sessions to understand the lashes and the best look for you, but after the second time I wasn't willing to keep paying when I wasn't sure that I was going to love the outcome. The lashes were not lifted enough, so you could fully tell that I was wearing them. When I started the whole process I was told that the removal of them was free if I didn't like them. When I called back to get the last couple off, I was told that it's actually an appointment and it would be an additional $65. I have gotten my make up done by them and have had pretty good customer service from the manager Kat. They worked with my schedule to get the appointment booked outside of their normal hours. I got a special hair style from Brandy for my senior prom and I LOVED IT. I brought in a picture of what I was looking for, but told her that she could use her own judgement to make the style work for me since I have naturally wavy, thick, long hair that can be difficult to work with. She worked fast and gave me a great up-do that held from 10am to 2am the next morning. I even brought in a clip that she incorporated very nicely. A bit pricey, but absolutely worth it if you want to be sure that you'll get a good style. My friend also got her makeup done and it looked beautiful and lasted well. read more

I don't recommend this salon at all. I was cancelled on two hours prior to my appointment that I had waited over two weeks for. The reason was because the stylist I was referred to "fell asleep by the pool and had too bad of a sunburn." She then tried to reschedule me for another 10 days out so I called the salon to get the next available appointment with a different stylist. They got me in the next evening at 4:00 but I did not get called back until 4:25. The front desk staff wasn't friendly and didn't feel the need to tell me that my stylist was running almost 30 minutes late. After showing the stylist the color that I was going for with the balayage, she proceeded to tell me that she didn't like a lot of contrast and she knew the best way to keep my hair "low maintenance." This resulted in a 3 hour appointment where my hair looked basically the EXACT same at the end. $200 later, I feel like my money and time was wasted. It seems like they think their time is more important than their customers. I would steer clear of this salon. read more

Salon De Christie is a great spa! I always enjoy a deep tissue massage. Some of the things that separate Salon De Christie from all the rest include a private locker room and a relaxing fireplace lounge. I was able to arrive early, do any check in paperwork, then undress in the locker room and put on a robe and slippers even before my massage appointment. Once my masseuse was ready, we talked about how I like my massage, and quickly got started. At other spas, the masseuse would then leave the room for several minutes while I undress and get on the table. I like to get as much massage time as I can get and the private locker room helps. After my massage, I was able to relax by a fireplace in my robe in the lounge and drink all the water I wanted. I didn't have to get dressed in the massage room and then head directly up to the front desk to check out. With these two "difference makers", I have to also give kudos to the great staff at Salon De Christie, they are very friendly and the masseuses give a great massage. I highly recommend Salon De Christie for anyone getting a massage. read more

My wife and I go to a Spa every year at least once. I would like to go more but, story of every ones life is that we are way to busy and that is why we need a spa day. I usually get a deep tissue massage for an hour and she gets girlie stuff done that I really cannot remember. So we usually go somewhere else that we love but they were booked up, so we went here because they had an opening. I think I know why they had an opening. I didn't have a complaint about the massage therapist but the facility lacks allot. I felt like I was in a closet (already starting out creepy) and it sounded like I was on a boat, I guess the wind was picking up and the whole room was creaking and moaning. I though I was supposed to do that. I really could not knock out and totally relax because of the noise and I definitely could hear people walking around above me. I did like the fireplace but I think it was to over done. I felt like I was in some overly done Christmas card and wanted out rather than relax. All in all I enjoyed the massage just less thoroughly than I have at the other place. read more

I have gone to the spa at Salon De Christe 1 other time but had a great experience so I returned this time for a spa day with the girls. It was a surprise 'mom to be' spa day for my best friend that is expecting her first child. I wanted the day to be as carefree and relaxing as possible. It was just that! I have worked at a spa in the past and therefore knew exactly how I wanted our experience to be. First, you change into robes and such needed for the services you scheduled. The therapist will inform you and show you where to go. The area where the manicures and pedicures are is more quiet than a salon or most nail salons but separate from the area where facials and massages take place. In that area it is quiet and cellphones are kindly asked to stay put away. There is a fire place and plenty of comfy seating. The woman that did my facial was very informative, knowledgeable, and left my skin feeling amazing. Next, I had a massage. It was one for the books done by an awesome therapist by the name of Becca. She too was very knowledgeable, professional, and informed me of helpful things to do daily to help with issues I have delt with for 12 years. Her background and years of practice is what makes her phenomenal and separates her from most massage therapists. I have gone to chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapist, and athletic trainers within those 12 years. Becca was able to alleviate a bunch of what I felt that day and left me feeling better for days. I plan to continue to work with her. My 2 friends that had the other therapist were equally relieved and satisfied with their massage. They are dental hygienist and they learned many helpful stretches and exercises to continue. The mom to be loved her prenatal massage and felt relaxed and relief in areas that had been bothering her as she gets closer to her due date. Be sure where ever you go for an expecting mother, that they have a prenatal massage available and therapist that knows how to properly perform that type of massage safely. The only constructive criticism I would give would be for the receptionist. It was awkward that the therapist had to name call and go up to each customer asking "are you Elise?" They could let therapists know where each customer is sitting and wearing to help with this. FYI: Since they are a great salon and spa, I would suggest booking at least a month in advance depending on if it is just yourself or more. I have previously been to this salon before, but it had been about 2 years since I had gone and today I went again and I'm very pleased with my results. I didn't have a stylist, so they put me with Ashley, and she was great. She really took the time to figure out the color and look I was going for. She took her time and was very attentive to me throughout the whole process. Some salons and stylists don't even style your hair when the cut and color is done, but she even gave me beautiful waves so my hair will look great for the next couple days as well. All the massage therapists we have tried are kind, respectful, and talented. I like the location on West Clay better than the MidRivers location. I visited this salon/spa in 2009 while I was in town visiting for a baby shower. This was my first experience, and will most likely be my last. I received a one hour massage and a mani/pedi. The massage therapist seemed more like a massage student. She did not have good technique and basically poured way too much oil on so there was no deep pressure in stressed areas on my back. I had even asked her to not use very much oil as I do not like it. Afterwards I had a manicure and pedicure, and while the service was acceptable, the attitude of the employee was not. She was not professional, she spent most of the 90 minutes chatting away with another employee and the topic of their discussion was inappropriate for the workplace. She went on and on about a party she was at the weekend before and all of the drinking and drunkedness present. I had never met this woman and was a new client and she went on and on about how drunk she was and didn't try to make polite conversation with me as we went along. I wrote a letter to the manager/owner describing my visit and did not receive any kind of apology from him/her. Let's just say, I won't be going back! read more

Not super happy about how my experience here was. I arrived early to decompress and requested that since they have a spa waiting area. The girl sat me in the hair area to do my paperwork and I had to ask to go back to the spa area early. Weird changing area with old robes and old socks? I kept my own on thanks.. Asked for a heated pillow and a cup of tea, the girl told me they only had this "gross aveda tea", um.. bring it anyway? Unprofessional attitude from the massage therapist who didn't listen to my requests of areas to be worked. The room was very small and cramped and you could hear people above you talking and walking.
