The tall brunette charged me $70 (+$15 tip) to wreck my hair! I returned so she could fix the clumpy spots, and when I arrived home, I noticed that she purposely cut one side a lot shorter than the other. Some people are just plain nasty!!! read more

I was looking a place to do my nails and possibly become a long time customer. I walked in and the receptionist never acknowledge me, she was talking to another customer but I allowed about 5 minutes to go by. Another employee doing nails did ask me if I had an appt and I indicated that i did not, she then directed me to the receptionist. At which point she still did not acknowledge me. I allowed another few more minutes to go by and I informed the nail lady that I guess they can't service me and do not want my money. And I walked out I don't know why they did not wanted to take my money, maybe they don't really like brown skin....regardless it's sad that I was not even a knowledged. read more

First thing to note: I've been a customer for about 12 years. The hair stylists have all been wonderful, and I hate to leave a bad review because they all deserve good business. It's sad that I'm seeing the same comment pop up on other reviews of this page but at least it gives me solace that this is a reoccurring problem: The receptionist. I don't know how she's still there. She's rude, makes wildly inappropriate comments and if I were a new customer, I would have turned away and cancelled my appointment after dealing with a single conversation with her. She's also rather LGBT-unfriendly, for anyone else who needs to know that. I'm writing this review in hopes that someone higher up the ladder sees and finally gives this lady a seminar in human communication. read more

I got my hair cut my Jen. I asked for 3 simple things, cut off two inches, one inch layer, and a rounded cut. No dyes or chemicals or any styling! But unfortunately even as a stylist of 8 years she was only able to do 2 of the 3 SIMPLE things I requested. I paid $55 for the hair cut. Really disappointed. I have had the great fortune of having April as my hair stylist for over 15 years! She is an extremely talented stylist. I constantly receive compliments on my hairstyle and color, even up until my next appointments. When it comes to booking appointments, she always fits me in. Upon entering the salon, you will find a cheerful and welcoming atmosphere. There is coffee if you happen to be tired and in need of some perking up. (I don't like coffee so I never drank any). I always go to Renee because she is very good and knows how to cut my hair well. I would always show her hairstyles I find in magazines and ask her if she could do my hair like them and yup, yessirree~! She gets it down and fitting to my face perfectly. :D Whenever I have any questions on how to tease my hair or what kind of product to use, she would recommend to me what she personally enjoys using and what works well. I enjoy my haircuts and hair colouring here because my hair ends up feeling so pampered. I am always happy with the results. :D read more

I love this place. I never let anyone else cut my hair but Kim. She is my absolute favorite and I have known her my whole life. This is not just your basic Super cuts. This place is quality with personality. You really get to know your hair dresser here and have a conversation with them. This was my first time here and OMG, this salon is great. Very welcoming as soon as you walk in. They offer you coffee, pink lemonade, water, pastries as you wait. The waterfall was beautiful and created a tranquil environment in the middle of the salon. Dolores cut and highlighted my hair. She was so nice, sweet, and funny. We got along great. She did an amazing job...I think. The price was great! For as long as I was there and for what she did, I thought it was pretty cheap, especially being my first time highlighting so she had to bleach my hair. I have been going to Salon D'Tangles for over 15 yrs. Kim is one of the sweetest and most professional stylist I have ever come across. She cateres to my personality... one time long ago I asked her to tell me when it's time to "change" my hair do (yep I'm a Mom).... she immediately said "right NOW"!! That's how honest and caring she is about catering to my best interest! Everyone at the Salon is super friendly and treats you like a BFF from the moment you walk thru the door. This review is actually long overdue. If you are looking for a new stylist- look no further, Christine is your girl. Christine is a sweet heart. Such a beautiful person, inside and out. She genuinely cares about her customers and treats you like a family member. She is Godly and has such a caring soul. She is an outstanding mother, a great listener. I like to keep my hair simple. Dark brown with low lights to give a little bit of dimension. She completely understood me and what I wanted and always delivered stellar results. She is very conservative when giving haircuts and will ask multiple times how short you are willing to go. read more

Do not go to Tammy for hair. I went in to have her touch up my blonde highlights which were in healthy condition. I saw her put bleach over existing blonde and she damaged my hair and over-lightened it. She also gave me a horrible hair cut. I asked her to trim two inches off the length of my hair which was past my shoulders. She cut two inches off the length and made a weird under cut near my neck and now it looks like I'm growing out a bob. Her technique is out of date. I asked her to do balayage and she refused saying it wouldn't look good on me. I had streaks in my hair that was a look from the 1980's. When I tried to collaborate on her changing the base color, it was a heated debate. Either she didn't know how to mix formula, didn't want to or was just rude. Either of which I was not interested in going back to see her. read more

I made an appointment a few days in advance, but when I showed up I was told that my appointment hadn't been scheduled. I was told I could be squeezed in, and the hairdresser did see me, but she had to work on three people at once, and what would've been at most a five hour visit ended up taking 8 hours. I discovered this salon here on Yelp. I think I may have been aware of Salon D'Tangles for a while; I used to go to the Merle Norman that was next door. I'm having surgery soon and expect to be in the hospital for a few days, and I wanted to get a perm so I don't have to fuss with my hair too much. I've been growing out a super-short pixie for about three years and the longer my hair got, the more unmanageable it became. Curly in some spots, wavy in others, and straight in other spots. I'd even go get blowouts just to deal with my crazy hair. It was getting expensive, and even though I'd try to deal with whatever curl I had, it wasn't enough. I was looking to enhance my curl by getting a perm. The salon owner, Dianne, did my hair yesterday. She took her time assessing my hair since I was a first-time client and gave me a perm. My hair ended up EXTREMELY curly, much curlier then expected! Dianne then shaped my collarbone-length hair, and I was overall very pleased with the results. We did a "2-hour" perm where I left the salon to let my hair "air oxidize" and then returned to finish the process. Dianne called me that night to give me advice on caring for my new perm, especially since I'm going out with some girlfriends on Saturday to celebrate a birthday. How many hairstylists actually call their clients after a visit to discuss hair care? She also asked me to pop in next week so she can examine how my hair is settling in. I thought that was so nice of her to call me. Dianne, if you're reading this, I absolutely love my hair! It's very 80s, but in a really awesome, cool way! Thank you! read more

This salon is great. I've been a customer there for over 2 yrs. I get my hair done there about every 2 months or so, and I am always very pleased with the results. Dolores cuts and colors/highlights my hair. She's super sweet and fun. She does a phenominal job. I always get compliments on my hair color. All the staff at this salon are friendly and accomodating. The prices for their services are pretty reasonable. I used to pay more for about the same quailty of service. I don't live in Whittier anymore but I don't mind driving a little farther. Making an appointment was extremely easy. I love the environment and friendliness of the salon. This was my second time visiting - both with Jenna Weiland. The first visit I wanted to get rid of the blonde under my hair and dye all of it dark brown to match my natural color with a clean cut and she did a wonderful job at an amazing price. This time I had the blonde back and needed a root touch up and some serious toning. Jenna did an incredible job as usual. My hair is naturally quite dark and bleaching at other salons always turns out orange or honey blonde but she gave me a beautiful ash-blonde that I'm in love with.
